As they walked through the hallway, Bin in Alexcentâs arms, everyone couldnât help but stare. They whispered to each other about the Duke Skad and his little mini-me.
âHeâs already so handsome,â someone had whispered.
âTheyâre practically identical!â another said. âTheir hair and eyes are exactly the same.â
Someone chimed in, âDo you think they have the same personality?â
People shook their heads. âProbably not,â someone said. âAnyway, heâs going to congress already. Theyâre already preparing him to be a successor!â
âGosh,â another person murmured. âHe must be really talented.â
âWell, what else should we expect? He is a Skad.â
Alexcent paid no mind to what everyone else was saying, he simply flipped through all the proposals that were given to him. Even so, everyone was enthralled by Bin.
âWe need to develop the drainage basin!â a subordinate said. âTheyâre going to ruin the Empireâs economy.â
âNo,â Bin mumbled.
Alexcent looked at his son and leaned down. âYou donât like this?â
Bin tapped on the proposal Alexcent was holding and nodded. âI donât like it.â
Alexcent looked back up and smiled, throwing the document to the side. âRejected.â
The subordinate shook his head. âMy Lord!â he exclaimed. âThe drainage development is for droughts and floods. You canât just reject it.â
Alexcentâs eyes narrowed. He hummed. âThen why is it in the 4 River?â
âPardon?â the subordinate gulped.
âYou say itâs to prepare for drought and flood,â Alexcent scowled. âBut actually you just want your areas to be bought by the Empire and have them be developed.â
The subordinateâs eyes grew wide. âNo, thatâs not it!â he fumbled through his words.
âItâs a waste of money,â Alexcent said. âAlso, without proper investigation, itâs at risk of shoddy construction.â
âThen weâll improve the plans,â the subordinate said.
âNo.â
âBut why?â
âBecause Bin said no.â
âPardon me?â the subordinate exclaimed. Before he could even argue, he was escorted away as the next proposal was presented.
This time, Bin clapped and nodded.
âApproved,â Alexcent said, taking note of the proposal.
Bin lit up and his father couldnât help but mirror his joy.
The subordinate from earlier tried to argue his point once more, but Alexcent just shot him down with a look. The proposals were up to Bin. Yes or no. Just one word and it would be decided.

âMy Lord,â Karune, the Empressâs secretary, stood in front of Alexcent and bowed.
He nodded. âItâs been a while, Kal.â
âYes,â Karune said. âThe empress is looking for you.â
âMe?â
âWell, the young master to be precise.â
Bin looked up at Karune from his fatherâs arms. Belice had heard all the rumors about the father and son.
âHow is she feeling?â Alexcent asked as he held Bin close and followed as Karune led the way.
âBetter,â Karune said. âBut she still has trouble moving.â
When they arrived at the palace drawing room, Belice was there along with Duke Roden. Karune made his leave as they exchanged pleasantries.
âGreetings, Your Majesty,â Alexcent nodded.
Belice smiled. âWelcome, Sir Skad.â
As Belice tried to get up, both Duke Roden and Alexcent jumped up in panic. âYour Majesty, donât move!â Alexcent exclaimed.
âMy goodness,â Belice laughed. âYou would think Iâm dying.â
âHowâs your morning sickness?â Alexcent asked, worry written across his face.
âBetter,â Belice said.
âShe can barely finish a bowl of clear soup,â Duke Roden said.
Belice let out an awkward laugh.
âWe must change your chef then,â Alexcent frowned. âYou have to eat. Youâre getting thinner and thinner every day.â
âOh, the chef did nothing wrong,â Belice told him. âDonât do that.â
âThat might be a good idea, Sir Skad,â Duke Roden said, ignoring the Empressâs protests.
âNot you too, Michen!â she exclaimed. She gave the duke a pointed look then turned to Bin. âMy Binny! Did you miss me?â
Bin grinned. âAuntie Majesty!â
Belice clicked her tongue. âRemember what your mom said? Itâs just auntie.â
âOkay,â Bin giggled âAuntie!â
âYou are so cute!â Belice smiled. âSo unlike your dad. You got that from your mom. Donât ever be like your dad, okay?â
âBut I like dad,â Bin frowned.
Alexcentâs breath stilled when he heard his son say that.
âOh, you like dad?â Belice asked, glancing at Alexcent. âWhat about auntie?â
âI like auntie too!â
Alexcent put his son down and Bin wobbled over to Belice who hugged him tightly. She set him on the sofa beside her and Bin put his hands on her stomach. He felt something move.
âDoes your stomach hurt, auntie?â he asked.
âNo, itâs just because the baby is in there,â she said. âIt doesnât hurt.â
Bin looked up at her and smiled. âSo pretty.â
âWho? Me?â
The little boy nodded. âAnd the baby too.â
âYou can see the baby?â Belice laughed. âWhat does the baby look like?â
âA goddess,â Bin answered.
The adults in the room shared a look. âA goddess, really?â Belice asked, stroking the little boyâs hair.
Bin hummed. âJust like auntie and dad.â
âWill Bin love the baby?â Belice asked him.
âYes!â Bin answered happily. âIâll protect her like a knight!â He placed a gentle kiss on Beliceâs stomach, and he felt another kick, like the baby was responding.
Alexcent walked over to Sir Roden. He supposed that it was almost time, seeing the state of Beliceâs stomach. âYou have to be careful,â he whispered.
âAbout what?â Duke Roden asked.
Alexcent knew that Belice was no different from Amethyst and, judging by what he knew, she was no doubt stronger too. Thatâs why they got along so well.
He knew that once Belice went into labor, she would swear at Duke Roden and grab a hold of his hair. Just like Amethyst had done. Alexcent felt the need to be there for Duke Roden somehow, to give him encouragement.
He wouldnât understand it now, but two months and 15 days later, he definitely would.
