Alexcent did not hesitate in buying the necklace that held the jewel âEye of the Goddessâ. Dunph was surprised, shocked even, because Alexcent hadnât even asked for the price before he decided to buy it.
âIs something wrong?â asked Alexcent, noticing the dumbfounded expression of Dunph.
âNo, sire,â he stammered, âNothing at all.â
âBring this in, when you come,â said Alexcent indicating the necklace.
âUnderstood, sire,â he said.
Dunph had never, in his wildest dreams, thought that the Eye of the Goddess would be sold. He had thought it impossible because none had the wealth enough to buy it.
âLeave now,â said Alexcent, dismissing the shopkeeper.
âYes, sire,â he said bowing, âIt has been a pleasure to serve you. Thank you for honoring our shop.â
âWrap all the best things in your shop and bring it to wherever Pon will guide you,â instructed Alexcent as Dunph was leaving.
âAll⦠all of them?â asked Dunph, stunned.
âIs there a problem with it?â asked Alexcent.
âNo problem at all, sire!â said Dunph hurriedly, âI will do as commanded.â
Dunph was led by Pon to a reception room, while servants placed the jewel boxes on the table in the middle. He felt extremely blissful at having sold all his best and most precious jewels in a day!

âIs this for me?â asked Amethyst, holding the beautiful necklace in her hands like something delicate and fraglile.
âOf course, my ladyâ said Dunph, âThis particular jewel called the âEye of the Goddessâ hadnât found its owner yet. I am honored to have met you today.â Amethyst thought the name was most apt. The red jewel reminded her of Alexcentâs eyes.
âI have had the rest placed in your reception room,â he said.
âThe rest?!â asked Amethyst incredulously. She had wanted to shop for only a small accessory.
âThe good sir bought all of my best jewels,â he said.
âAll of them?â asked Amethyst, stunned.
Dunph nodded. Amethyst wondered how much it had cost Alexcent.
âIt is my honor to have met you today,â said Dunph, bowing, âI will leave you with your jewels.â Dunph said and left her gazing at the necklace.
âDo you want to try it on, my lady?â asked Lunia.
âLater,â she said and placed the necklace in the box. âI want to finish shopping first.â
Amethyst thought all of it was too much. She had been hoping for a small, nice accessory not the jewels of the earth that she couldnât carry. She needed a change of venue.
âWhere do you want to go next?â asked Lunia.
âThe weapon shop,â said Amethyst.
âWhy the weapon shop, my lady?â asked Lunia, surprised.
âI thought I could learn how to protect myself after what happened with Dajal,â said Amethyst, âAnd for that I need to learn to fight. I need a weapon to do so. I have already asked Pon to show me one.â
Amethyst could not tell Lunia the whole truth. She wouldnât be Alexcentâs wife after a year and would have no knights stationed to guard and protect her. She would have to do so herself. âOh, I will call the merchant, maâam,â said Lunia.
He entered at Luniaâs call. âThank you for having me, Maâam,â said the man, âI am Jerome, from Zest Weapon Shop.â The man looked more like a knight than merchant. Even with the monocle on his eyes, he looked like he belonged in a fight than a shop. âHow may I be of help?â
âI want to buy a sword that I can wield and a gun that I can possess,â said Amethyst. Jerome looked surprised.
âIs there a problem Jerome?â asked Amethyst.
âNo, Maâam,â he said, âJust a little rare. I have only ever sold weapons to women who mostly want to buy them as gifts for their husbands. Forgive me for saying so.â
âOh,â she said, âI need to have them so that I can defend myself.â
âUnfortunately, I donât have suitable weapons right now at my disposal made for your build,â said Jerome, âWould it be alright if you checked the items that you want so that I can have it customized for you?â
âOf course!â said Amethyst, âI didnât know you provided that.â
âThere are, even if rare, some ladies who approach my shop to buy a weapon for themselves,â said Jerome, âI have them customized to suit their build.â
âThat is indeed great,â said Amethyst.
âI will show you the swords first,â said Jerome and led her to the display. Lunia followed her a step behind.
âPerhaps, thisâ¦,â said Jerome, as he lifted out a sword and handed it to her.
Amethyst lifted the sword. It was a bit longer than she had expected and a bit heavy but she could lift it well.
âHow is it?â asked Jerome.
âIt is a bit heavy, but alright,â she said.
âI thought it might work,â said Jerome, âThis sword is used by the beginners in fighting.â
âI think I can swing it,â said Amethyst, excitedly. But Jerome stalled her hand.
âBe careful, Maâam,â he said, âYou might hurt your wrist the first time.â
âOh, sorry,â said Amethyst.
âI think we may have to reduce the weight a little to make it lighter to wield,â he said.
âBut wouldnât that make it less effective for a fight?â she asked.
âSword fighting is more about agility and skill than the weight of it, Maâam,â said Jerome, âBut if you feel hesitant, it wonât pose a problem if it is imbued with magic.â
âThat can be done?â she asked, curious.
âOf course,â said Jerome, âWe use powdered magic stones and mix it with the steel.â
âThat is fascinating!â said Amethyst.
