âANYA!â Jay tried to scream her awake as she slowly floated down from the yellow ring. If Anya died, Jay would surely die too after Sullivan found him; he knew his life was tied to her â for now at least.
Jay caught her and sat her down comfortably. Looking around, he made sure they werenât in any immediate danger.
âWe need to get out of hereâ he thought â but he reasoned that if he tried to leave, she may not be able to until she wakes up, and a bayring could stumble upon her â this was a risk he wasnât willing to take.
âWell, she has 4 HP, I think if I give her enough time, she will wake upâ Jay had an idea âBut I could try somethingâ¦â
Jay placed his hand over Anya.
âRestoreâ
Swirling green gas left Jayâs hand â yet as it came into contact with Anyaâs body, it disappeared.
âIt was worth a tryâ¦â Jay frowned. He still had his necrotic ring in itâs first form, it had automatically absorbed the bones from the dead feeble creatures. For protection, Jay decided to bring back the level 2 Don.
âRaiseâ
This time, the swirling, glowing green gas left Jayâs hand and mixed with a larger number of bones. The usual popping and snapping sounds happened as the level 2 Don was formed.
When it was fully constructed, it was taller than the other feeble creatures, coming up to Jayâs shoulder now. Itâs back was no longer hunched over and it stood proudly. Itâs skull was still a soap rat skull, perhaps because those were the only skulls Jay had; though the bone-horns were smaller now. Itâs hands still had claws at the end, but they were much thicker and shorter.
As it was raised, the level 2 Don was looking around, examining the environment as if it was now more intelligent. Suddenly, it grabbed a bone floating past it from Jayâs ring..
âWhat theâ¦â Curious, Jay allowed it as he raised an eyebrow âWhat is it doingâ¦â
Green gas emerged from the level 2 Donâs own hand as it engulfed the bone it grabbed. The bone began morphing and turned semi-liquid as Jayâs jaw dropped.
It wasnât long before the feeble creature was standing there with 2 curved daggers both made of bone.
An ecstatic smile appeared on Jayâs face as he had to try to stop himself from laughing maniacally. Immediately, he grabbed a dagger from his minion and analysed it.

An abomination, itâs existence spits in the face of life and death. Execute with extreme prejudice.
âIt has its own mana pool?!â Jay laughed, his voice echoing through the dungeon.
âWell, I canât let you have all the fun.â Jay grabbed a bone floating by him, attempting to copy his creatures ability.
âOk, a dagger. Simple enough. Iâll try copy the ones Don made.â
He channelled his mana and caused green gas to form around the bone, it began morphing and twisting â though it didnât seem to turn semi-liquid like the Donâs did.
âIâm missing something⦠hmm when blacksmiths make their weapons, they almost melt it before hammering it into shape.â
Jay imagined his green gas mixing with the bone, seeping into it and turning it into micro-fine particles. This seemed to work as the bone was now semi-liquid.
âOk now I form youâ Jay imagined the shape of a dagger, as the bone was squeezed. Some of the gas left it, while some remained and became part of it.
Before he knew it, he was finished crafting his first bone dagger.
[Skill Acquired: Scrimshaw level 1 â Can use bone to create basic objects]
âNot badâ he said to himself as he looked at it.
âWhat are you doing?â Anya was crouching down behind him.
âAH!â Jay dropped the bone dagger, jumping up and trying not to act scared as he turned around âIâm just practicing some stuffâ¦â he said, picking up the new bone dagger. ââ¦wait, werenât you nearly dead a moment ago?â
Anya smiled as she was satisfied with scaring the deadly necromancer. âPerks of being the guild masters daughterâ.
âWhat?â Jay still hadnât caught on âI thought you were just there because you had a unique class?â Suddenly, it all made sense to Jay â the subtle death threat about him protecting her with his life, Anyaâs casual attitude around the guild master, Anya getting a new crossbow overnight, as well as Anya being an acquaintance of the townâs soldiers.
âYep, Sullivanâs my father. Anyway, I wonât tell him I nearly died â I want to keep adventuring, and I wonât be locked up in the adventurer guild for the rest of my life.â She folded her arms.
âOh. Good. Thanks. Iâll try to protect you better next timeâ¦â Jay looked around âanyway, we made it into floor level 2 of Carterâs Demise. I just need to do a few things before we get moving or if you decide you want to leave. Just give me a minute ok?â
âSure, go aheadâ Anya said as she reloaded he crossbow, then began wiping traces of blood off her skin and armour.
âOk, where was I⦠oh yes, my prettyâ¦.â Jay looked at his new creation â the bone dagger.
[Bone Dagger Level 1]
[5 damage] â Slashing, piercing.
[+50% damage from back-stab attacks]
[Lifespan â Requires essence from itâs creator to maintain itâs form]
[Current lifespan: 24 hours]
âHa! Eat shit don, mineâs better than yours!â Jay scoffed to his feeble creature. It didnât seem to mind that itâs master was more skilled than it as it held up itâs two daggers in celebration, as if cheering for itâs master.
Anya pitied Jay. âIt seems like heâs a real loner.â She thought, pretending not to look at Jayâs antics. âWell, I better spend my attribute points and skill point.â she silently upgraded herself âhuh, new abilityâ¦â she smirked.
âHey Jay, can I test my new ability on one of your minions?â
âWhat? Oh yeah, you levelled up. Sure, but let me just summon one of the weaker ones. I donât want to use more bone on the level 2 Don.â
Jay summoned Muffin and the other Don while Anya waited patiently; he made the Don stand in front of Anya and willed all his creatures not to attack.
The Don looked at Jay as it happened â âit is proud of itâs duty or disappointed in me?â Jay couldnât tell, but neither did he care.
Anya simply stared at the creature and squinted.
âAre you doing it or what?â Jay thought her ability was super lame at this point suddenly, an ancient deep, wicked voice sounded out from Anya as it seemed to shake the ground.
âPROSTRATEâ
A shiver went up Jayâs spine as the voice echoed out. Jay felt like he was in the presence of divine royalty. Regaining controls of his bowels, he tried to command the Don that Anyaâs spell was targeted at, but to no effect. It was still bowing down to Anya as if it was ready to give up itâs life.
âShit Anya, thatâs so powerful. Itâs just amazing. I canât even make my feeble creature stand up!â Jay checked his creatures status âThat voice was so terrifying, it even lost 5 health! Thatâs way too over powered!â he laughed in disbelief âI didnât think the Donâs even had the intelligence to understand such a word!â
Smiling, Anya said âIt will be like that for another 6 secondsâ she then turned away and looked out into the dungeon ââ¦Iâm the Ashwindâs accuser after allâ.
