Chapter 11 Love At First Sight Emmeline hailed a cab after leaving the hospital.
Helios, Endymion, and Hesperus were still in the Ryker home. She had to pick them up.
Alana claimed Adrien Ryker to be the father to her three children and that revelation was a tough pill to swallow.
She had to know who the father was no matter who he turned out to be.
What if Hesperusâs blood disorder relapsed?
Despite her status as the childâs biological mother, they were not a match.
The driver found the location of Ryker Mansion through Waze.
âThere are two of them listed,â the driver started. âLandon or Lewis? Which one are you going to?â
âLewis,â Emmeline answered.
Her assistant, Benjamin, had thoroughly investigated the Ryker family.
Abel had brought Timothy home fairly quickly.
All three children, Helios, Endymion, and Hesperus rushed up to him to greet him.
âAre you okay? You had us worried.â
âYour armâs bruised. Does it hurt?â
âIf Mommy were here, she would be heartbroken!â
âI met a really pretty lady today,â Timothy explained. âShe looks like how I imagined Mommy to be!â
âSheâs definitely nothing compared to our Mommy.â
âOur Mommy is pretty. Sheâs the prettiest woman alive!â
âYeah! Sheâs the most beautiful person to walk on land.â
âBut she wasnât just beautiful. She could fight too,â Timothy argued. âShe jumped and caught me. Sheâs a hero!â
âOur Mommy can fight too. She can jump from the second floor to the first like itâs nothing.â
âAre you sure youâre not talking about our Mommy, Timothy?â
âHuh?â Timothy puffed out his cheeks. âHow would I know? Iâve never seen your Mommy.â
âMommy will be here to pick us up soon. You can meet her in a bit.â
âTimmy,â Rosaline called from the stairs. âYou gave Granny a scare. Are you okay?â
âJust a scratch,â Abel answered. âHe seems fine otherwise.â
âThank God!â She exclaimed. âHe fell from such a high place. If it werenât for that woman, I would have lost a grandchild!â
âIâm okay,â Timothy attempted to soothe her nerves. âDonât be sad, Granny.â
âIâm not sad anymore.â She picked him up in her arms. âGranny wants to thank the lady for saving you.
Our family owes her!â
âTimothy!â Alana clambered in, complexion pale as a sheet as she shrieked his name.
âWhat are you doing here?â Rosaline fumed. âIt was you who almost killed my grandson!â
âIâ¦â
âWhat? I now have three other grandchildren. You are going to face my wrath if you hurt Timothy!â
âMadame Ryker!â Alana had tears in her eyes. She was more than aware Timothy was her only leverage in the Ryker family.
âForget it!â Abel frowned. âAll that matters is that Timmy is safe!â
âYou should take your grandfatherâs advice.â Rosaline rolled her eyes at Alana as she spoke to Abel.
âPropose to Wonder Doctor, marry her, and give me some grandchildren. The Lane girl can be sent on her way!â
Alana turned from pale to sallow. She pursed her lips and nearly fainted from exasperation.
âMadame, Mr. Abel,â the butler started. âMs. Louise has arrived to pick up her children.â
âMommyâs here!â Helios, Endymion, and Hesperus rushed out.
Timothy also scrambled out of Rosalineâs hold.
He wanted to see for himself just how beautiful their mother was. Was she as pretty as the lady who saved him?
âMommy!â
The triplets toddled to the automatic gates where Emmeline was waiting.
Timothy was taken aback. âItâs the pretty Miss!â
Emmeline was no less surprised. âHello? Do you live here?â
âMmhmm. This is my home. My name is Timothy Ryker!â
âRykerâ¦â Emmelineâs heart thumped.
This adorable child was Abel and Alanaâs son?
Abel might not have been the father of her children, but she couldnât deny thatâ¦
She had fallen in love with him at first sight.
âMommy!â Helios called through the gates. âI missed you!â
âI missed you too!â
âSo did I!â
All three were overjoyed to see her.
âThis pretty lady is your Mommy?â Timothy asked.
âYup! Isnât she pretty?â
âShe is. The most beautiful lady ever.â Timothy also lost himself in their merriment. âIt was pretty Mommy that saved me!â
âWhat did you say, Timmy?â Rosaline was stunned. â She saved you?â
âYes, Granny,â he answered, âIf the pretty lady didnât save me, I would be dead!â
âOpen the gates!â Rosaline demanded excitedly. âHave Ms. Louise come inside!â
The moment the butler opened the gates, Alana rushed up to her.
âWhy are you so stubborn, Emmeline? I told you the children have nothing to do with Abel!â
âIâm here for my sons.â Emmeline shot a glance at Abel before continuing, âNot for him!â
âTake your children and leave.â Alana raised a brow. âThis isnât a place for a bumpkin like you to come and go as you please!â
âWho do you think you are?!â Rosaline angrily reprimanded Alana. âMs. Louise saved my grandson.
Your son! What is wrong with you?!â
Abel caught a glimpse of the wound on Emmelineâs forehead. âYouâre still bleeding. Come in. Weâll help you with it.â
âThereâs no need,â Emmeline said placidly.
âItâs only right,â he disagreed. âYou saved my son.â
âYeah, Mommy,â Helios said. âThereâs blood on the bandage.â
âMiss.â Timothy tugged on her hand. âPlease come in. Youâll get a fever if your injury gets infected.â
âAlright.â Emmeline could only give in under the pressure of childrenâs eyes innocently peering up at her.
Alanaâs face darkened.
She purposefully lagged behind Abel.
To Emmeline, the two of them seemed to be very much in love.
Abel, however, suddenly hastened his steps and grabbed her hand.
Shocked, she tried to shake him off before he spoke, âThe blood got to your ear!â
He tugged her inside and barked an order, âGet a doctor here now!â
The butler was gone in a flash to call for the family doctor.
Abelâs concern for Emmeline had put a grim expression on Alanaâs face.
It hurt much less after her wound was redressed.
Rosaline then ordered her servants to prepare tea for her grandsonâs savior and juice for the children.
That was when Hesperus piped up. âItchy!â
Helios sprang into action. âMommy, Starâs face is swelling up!â
Endymion was also stunned silly. âMommy, Starâs having an allergic reaction!â
Allergic reaction?
Everyone was immediately concerned.
Emmeline bent down to check on her son who had rashes forming on his face and his arms.
âMommy! It hurts!â Hesperus looked close to tears.
âDamn it,â she murmured. âDid you eat kiwi? You know youâre allergic to those!â
âI didnât.â He wrinkled his nose. âIâm not stupid!â
âKiwi?â The nanny had a rude awakening. âIs Hesperus allergic to kiwi? The juice had kiwis in them!â
âHeâs allergic to kiwi?â Rosaline asked.
âYes,â Emmeline frowned. âHe was born with it.â
Rosaline shot a look at her son.
Abel was no less shocked. He asked his mother under his breath, âIsnât Adrien also allergic to kiwis?â
