âSir, I hope youâre a man of your word. If this is what Adrien is, please donât force me to marry him,â
Emmeline said.
Oscar waved his hand defeatedly, as though he was saying, âGet out.â
Emmeline breathed a sigh of relief and skipped out of the room.
As soon as she left, Adrien came into the ward and dragged Abel to the lounge.
âYou have to help me, Abel.â
âYou brought this onto yourself, Adrien. How could you?â Abel said.
âI didnât expect it to be so serious! It was still standing this morning, but it didnât react at all during the examination.â
Abel took the cigarette Adrien offered him âHow can I help you then?â
Adrien lit up his cigarette.
âYou have a way to contact the Wonder Doctor, right? Please set up an appointment with her for me. I want to beg her to cure my impotence!â
âShe?â Abel nodded. âYes, I believe she can do that.â
âContact her as soon as possible. I canât wait any longer!â
Abel took his phone and was about to search through his contact list when he suddenly thought of something.
If Iâm contacting the Wonder Doctorâ¦
âWait. I need to discuss something with Grandfather. Iâll call the Wonder Doctor afterward.â
âWhatâs so important?â
âIt concerns my future!â
âFine then,â Adrien said sullenly. âIâm too embarrassed to see Grandfather. You can go in yourself.â
âWait for me.â Abel went into Oscarâs room.
Oscarâs blood pressure was high from the fit of anger yesterday, but his condition was stable after he took medication.
However, he had to stay in the hospital for one more day for observation.
Abel came into the room and closed the door. Oscarâs assistant was locked outside.
Oscar could tell Abel had something to tell him.
âSo whatâs it going to be? Will you finally be happy after I die of a heart attack?â
âNo, Grandfather.â Abel sat down next to Oscar. âI want to discuss something with you.â
âMm. Go on,â Oscar said while pinching the bridge of his nose.
âMust I marry Alana?â
âYes. No negotiations.â
âBut Grandfather,â Abel continued, âIâve heard from Father that you were forced to marry Grandmother, and you donât even like her.â
Oscar was silent. Memories from the past resurfaced.
âI believe youâve regretted this for the rest of your life, right?â
âThatâs right.â Oscar was angry. âIf it werenât for that Adelmar b*stard, I wouldâve married the woman I loved!â
âYou wouldnât want your grandson to follow your footsteps and make the same mistake, do you?â Abel said patiently.
âOf course not. Thatâs why I sent you to Waverly for secret training. I hope you wonât be held hostage like I once was!â Oscar said.
âAnd thatâs why I cannot marry Alana Lane,â Abel said.
âYou brat! You were trying to trick me!â Oscar said angrily.
âItâs not like that, Grandfather. I think I can find another way to repay Alana.â
âWhen she saved your life, she also saved the Ryker family, not to mention she lost her baby while doing so. Youâd be an ingrate if you donât repay her!â
âIâve thought about it,â Abel said. âI ean treat her and give her a fortune so that she doesnât have to worry about money for the rest of her life. I donât have to marry her to repay her. You wouldnât want me to sacrifice my happiness, right?â
Oscar frowned. He was deep in thought.
â¦He makes sense. Abel doesnât have to marry Alana to repay her.
Even if Alana wanted Abel to marry her, Abel was nonetheless his grandson. He should not sacrifice his grandsonâs happiness to satisfy an outsider.
âWhat do you intend to do?â Oscar said after some time.
âIâll look for the Wonder Doctor to treat Alana,â Abel said. âThat way, we donât have to feel guilty.â
Oscar thought for a while before saying, âThat sounds like a plan.â
Abel was about to be happy when Oscar added, âWhat if the Wonder Doctor canât treat her?â
