The photo showed a woman with a swollen face, half of which was covered in scars. It was hard to recognize her face.
Their faces instantly turned gloomy, and all showed signs of disappointment.
âI canât recognize her, Emmeline said. âWhat do we do now?â
âItâs so frustrating. Janie said. âThe person in the photo is so swollen and unrecognizable.â
âWait!â Lizbeth exclaimed. âThis necklace!â
Emmeline focused back on the photo and said, âWhat about the necklace?â
Lizbeth said, âIf Iâm not mistaken, the necklace around her neck is the one I gave to Evelyn!â
Janie took a deep breath and said, âAre you sure?â
âI bought that necklace myself. How could I be wrong?â Lizbeth said, âI bought it to please Evelyn and ease my parentâs worries. It was an expensive necklace, so I remember it very clearly!â
Emmeline said, âShe must be Evelyn, then!â
âExactly.â Lizbeth said, âErin is Evelyn!â
âSo, we werenât wrong in our suspicions!â Emmeline said, âAbelâs shot was worth it!â
âI still get scared to recall the day Erin kidnapped Sun. Lizbeth said, âItâs good that Mr. Abel ended her with one shot. It saved everyone from further harm too!â
âYou should tell your parents right away,â Emmeline said, âso they can be relieved that this threat is finally gone.â
Lizbeth said, âIâll also show this photo to Edmond and tell him the truth. He should have realized what had happened by then!â
âRight,â Janie said, âhe shouldnât hate his own family anymore. You all are his real family, and Evelyn is the enemy!â
âExactly,â Lizbeth said. âIâll talk to my parents first.â
Lizbeth asked Janie to hand over the photos to her.
Lizbeth sent the photo to Mrs. Murphy and added the message. âDo you see the necklace around her neck? Youâve seen it before. It was the same necklace I bought for Evelyn.â
Soon, Mrs. Murphy replied, âWhatâs going on? Is this injured woman Evelyn?â
Lizbeth replied, âA plastic surgeon gave us this photo. Itâs how Erin looked before her surgery! Although her face was swollen and distorted, that necklace was proof enough! Erin is Evelyn!â
Mrs. Murphy replied, âYes, that necklace is the one you bought for Evelyn! I remember praising you for your choice back then.â
Lizbeth replied, âI will find Edmond and tell him everything. Itâs time to face the truth!â
Mrs. Murphy replied, âAlright, go ahead.â
Lizbeth stood up after ending the conversation. She said, âEmma, Janie, you two continue. Iâm going to find Edmond.â
âShould we tell Adrien?â Emmeline asked, âMaybe he can accompany you.â
âIâm afraid that Edmond might feel embarrassed in front of Adrien, Lizbeth replied. âIâll go alone. He wouldnât harm me.â
âWell, call me if you need anything,â Emmeline said.
âDonât worry!â Lizbeth said this and headed toward Edmondâs residence.
Edmond was drunk and sobbing on the sofa. He repeatedly mumbled, âErin, Iâll take revenge for Abel, Iâll find you!â
Lizbeth followed the butler inside and was immediately angered when she saw what had happened.
âEdmond, can you snap out of it?â
Edmond wiped away his tears and said, âLiz, why are you here?â
âLook at yourself!â Lizbeth shouted angrily, âYou must wake up!â
âWake up?â Edmond sneered and replied, âWhatâs there for me to wake up to? I couldnât even protect Erin. Whatâs the point of waking up?â
