âEmma, help Albus with the things,â Kimberly instructed while making her way over, saying warmly, âLook at Albus, still being polite and bringing so many gifts.â
Emmeline felt a rush of blood to her head, feeling somewhat dizzy. At the same time, she also felt a stomachache that made it hard for her to stand upright.
âEmma, please make some tea for our guest,â Kimberly cheerfully ordered. âAlbus, you can have tea in the living room while waiting for lunch.â
Emmeline felt like her world was ending.
âHeâs the one your mother arranged for you?â Hannah asked with a playful smile. âHe looks nice!â
âYou can have him all you want,â Emmeline replied coldly, feeling her stomach about to explode from the pent-up anger.
âEmma, youâre not working today?â Albus approached, smiling awkwardly as he addressed Emmeline.
âIâm on summer break,â Emmeline replied, her face hanging low.
âOh, right, itâs summer break.â
âHenrick, could you please keep our guest company? Emmeline said to Henrick. âIâll go help Mom.â
Henrick quickly approached and poured a cup of tea for Albus.
âEmma, Henrick is also a guest. Youâre making a mess of things,â Kimberly frowned.
Emmeline didnât respond and stormed into the study, slamming the door shut.
Soon, the meal was served. Everyone sat down happily at the table, but Emmeline was still in the study.
Hannah went straight to the study and said, âStop being dramatic; everyone is waiting for you.â
Emmeline was lying on the desk and didnât respond.
Hannah pushed her and said, âCome on, go have lunch. Do you hear me?â
Emmeline replied hoarsely, âHannah, my stomach hurts.â
âStop pretending.â Hannah thought her sister was trying to avoid Albus.
âIâm serious. It hurts really badly; my intestines and stomach are cramping.â
Hannah turned Emmelineâs face and noticed that she looked sallow, drenched in sweat. Startled, she asked, âWhatâs going on? You were fine just a moment ago.â
âI donât know; it hurts really badly.â Emmeline said through clenched teeth. âI think itâs because I saw that Albus.â
âIt canât be that bad.â
âItâs true!â Emmeline was starting to struggle with the pain. âIt really hurts!â
Just then, Kimberly came in and said, âEmma, come out quickly. This is Albusâ first time coming for lunch.â
âMom, can you spare me?â Emmeline frowned.
âHe came for you. How can you be so unreasonable?â Kimberly frowned.
âEmma has a stomachache,â Hannah said.
âYeah, right. She was just fine a moment ago.â Kimberly reached out to grab Emmelineâs arm.
âMom, it really hurts. Itâs killing me!â
âDonât play games.â Kimberly pulled Emmelineâs hand. âHurry up; heâs waiting outside. Itâs embarrassing!â
Emmeline burst into tears.
Henrick came over and, seeing the situation, asked, âWhatâs going on?â
âEmma said her stomach hurts. Sheâs probably finding an excuse not to go out for lunch,â Hannah said.
âBut what about Albus?â
Iâm really in pain,â Emmeline cried while slumping in her chair. âWhy wonât any of you believe me?â
âWhere does it hurt?â Henrick squatted down, noticing that Emmelineâs face had turned sallow.
âMy intestines and stomach are cramping together, and it hurts really badly,â Emmeline said, almost on the verge of passing out.
âCould it be an acute gastrointestinal spasm?â Henrick exclaimed.
âI think so,â Emmeline said. âHenrick, can you please take me to the hospital?â
Maxwell also came over and, seeing the situation, became worried. He quickly called a taxi.
They arrived at Altney Steel Employee Hospital, where the doctor examined Emmeline and diagnosed her with acute gastrointestinal spasms. Medication was immediately prescribed, and she received intravenous injections.
After about fifteen minutes, Emmelineâs abdominal pain eased, and she felt better.
âDad, you can go back now; Iâll be fine on my own,â Emmeline whispered to Maxwell.
âNo rush. I wonât be able to eat either after going home when youâre here,â Maxwell replied.
âDad, do you guys actually love me?â Emmeline pouted.
âWhy would you say that, you silly child?â Maxwell ruffled her bangs.
âWhy did Mom arrange that guy for me then?â
âYour mom has your best interest at heart; Albus is a decent person.â
âYou think so too?â Emmeline frowned.
and Abel might stay down an irreparable path and regret it forever.â
âBut doesnât she care if Iâm happy or not?â
âYour mom isnât in good health; you shouldnât argue with herâ¦â
