Landon responded briefly and shook hands with Adam.
Observing this, Alana, who was standing nearby, quickly understood the situation.
She put on a charming smile and hurried over, saying. âYou must be the elder brother. Iâve heard Abel mention you.â
Adam raised his eyebrows and proudly asserted, âThatâs correct. I practically have half the control over Ryker Group!â
Alana chuckled and replied, âCertainly! An elder brother is like a father. Even with Mr. Ryker around, he should show you the utmost respect.â
Intrigued, Adam asked, âAnd you are⦠You seem to know a lot about Abelâs family.â
Alana pretended to be shy and smiled without saying a word.
Adam then turned his attention to the Ford Focus parked nearby. âThis car looks great. Did my brother buy it?â
With a nod, Alana appeared somewhat envious.
This was the car Abel had bought for Emmeline.
Adam turned to his son, Zahn, and suggested, âZahn, why donât you take it for a spin later?â
Zahn shrunk his neck and replied, âI canât drive! I donât have a license!â
Adam brushed off the concern, stating. âWhatâs so difficult about it? Iâll have your uncle teach you later!
Whatâs his is mine, and whatâs mine is yours!â
Just as he finished speaking, Emmeline and Luca returned.
The company staff members who had gathered dispersed promptly.
As they often said, aside from Abel, Emmeline was considered the boss of Ryker Group.
Although she didnât interfere with internal affairs,â she had a significant influence on the core direction of the company.
Emmeline walked around the Ford Focus and asked Landon, âLandon, have you thoroughly inspected everything?â
Landon nodded. âMr. Ryker instructed me to inspect it, and Iâve checked everything. Thereâs no issue.â
Emmeline then beckoned the logistics personnel and signed off on the delivery in their waybill.
After that, she directed Luca to relocate the car to the back courtyard.
Emmeline herself drove a Buick Regal and returned to the same area.
Emmelineâs poised and graceful demeanor, coupled with her calm and dignified conduct, left. Adam utterly astonished.
This was particularly evident when she confidently arranged for a chauffeur to drive away the eyeâ
catching Ford Focus.
Puzzled, Adam furrowed his brow and inquired, âWho is she? Why does she seem so commanding?â
Alana pouted and said, âIsnât she your little sister?â
âMy little sister?â Adam appeared confused. âI donât know her.â
Alana rolled her eyes and explained, âIsnât she Emmeline Louise? Donât you recognize her?â
Only then did Adam open his mouth wide. âOh, right! I remember now. Sheâs my uncleâs daughter, isnât she?â
âYeah,â Alana answered. âSheâs Mr. Rykerâs precious little one! And that car earlier was a gift from Mr.
Ryker to her!â
Adam raised an eyebrow. âThatâs odd. His nephew and his brother havenât received anything yet. Why did my uncleâs family get it first?â
Adam immediately turned to Landon and said, âHey, call Abel and tell him to come back quickly!â
Landon frowned. âCanât you contact Mr. Ryker yourself? I shouldnât get involved in family. matters.
Adam looked annoyed. âHow would I have his number?â
Without a word, Landon returned to the office with a stern expression.
Adamâs gaze then shifted to Alanaâs face.
She quickly waved her hand, indicating that she, too, didnât dare to make that call.
Except for Emmeline, no one dared to provoke Abelâs temper.
Adam furrowed his brow. âIn that case, whereâs Abelâs office? My son and I will wait there!â
Alana scoffed. âMr. Rykerâs office has a fingerprint lock now, and only he and Emmeline can access it.
Others canât get in.â
Adam almost jumped up in frustration. This is ridiculous! Iâve come to my own home, and I canât see anyone or even get through the door!â
Alana shrugged, showing a sympathetic yet helpless expression.
Then tell me, where did that Emmeline Louise go just now? Iâll find her!â Adam demanded.
Alana responded with a cold smirk and gestured down the shaded path. âHead in that direction, to the building at the back.â
Emmeline had just taken off her suit and changed into a comfortable casual outfit when she heard the doorbell. She thought it was Abel returning.
âAbel, Iâve checked the car, and there are no issues!â she called out while getting dressed.
To her surprise, Adam burst in, exclaiming angrily, âIâve got a problem here!â
Emmeline let out a startled cry and hastily covered herself with her clothes. âWho are you?â
Unperturbed. Adam pulled Zahn over to the sofa, took a seat, and casually remarked, âWeâre not outsiders.â
âPlease leave!â Emmeline straightened her clothes and frowned. âThis is my house, or else Iâll call security!â
âHmph!â Adam sneered. âWhose house is this? Isnât it Abelâs house?â
