With more people dining that day, including children, Ethan opted to assist the cook in the kitchen.
Emmeline, familiar with the childrenâs favorite dishes, also donned an apron and joined in to lend a hand.
Meanwhile, Alondra graciously offered Benjamin some beverages while Maxwell had a charming smile on his face.
âMr. Benjamin, please donât take the previous incident to heart. For Emmaâs sake, Adelmar must assist Louise Corporation, or the situation will become extremely challenging for them.â
Grace stewed in anger on the sidelines, complaining inwardly, âWhy didnât you say that when you evicted Ethan from the Louise Corporation? Arenât you just flip- flopping now?â
âAdelmar will share any fitting business opportunity with Louise Corporation,â Benjamin said, âAfter all, you are Emmaâs family.â
Emmaâs family?
On hearing that, Alondra felt a sense of hope and quickly poured more tea into Benjaminâs cup.
âThank you very much, Mr. Benjamin.â Maxwell was overjoyed.
âIn the end, arenât you still relying on Ethan and Emma?â Grace, unable to control her anger, muttered and rolled her eyes.
Alondra smiled at Grace and said, âWell, what can we do? Weâre all family.â She then asked, âIs your child in junior high school now? Why didnât he come with you?â
âHe lives on campus!â replied Grace angrily.
âBring him to his grandpaâs house during the holidays,â Alondra suggested, âYour father misses his grandson.â
Grace commented, âDad has probably forgotten what his grandson looks like.â
Grace was still seething with anger.
Alondraâs face tightened and inwardly criticized, âIf I had my own son and daughter, I could rely on them in my old age. Do I even need to put up with all of you?â
The situation was truly maddening!
After some time had passed, the kitchen finished preparing the dishes, and the entire family gathered to dine.
Grace and Emmeline worked together to care for the children;
noo before long, the triplets had finished eating.
After that, the triplets departed from the table, leaving the remaining adults who were still dining and conversing. Eventually, the atmosphere became tranquil.
âEmma,â Maxwell said, âCan you stop blaming me for what happened in the past? I am also getting old.
You know, I almost died from a cerebral infarction a few days ago.â
âThatâs true,â Alondra said, pretending to sob, âWhat will happen to me when your dad is gone? Weâve been together for most of our lives.â
âDonât worry,â Emmeline assured Alondra, âEven if Dad is fine and lives up to a hundred years old, my brother and I will not abandon you!â
âYou two are still the most filial.â
Grace angrily stuffed food into her mouth, saying, âFrom what I see, thereâs always a way out to every problem!â
Alondra could barely maintain her façade any longer.
âEnough, Gracie,â Ethan said as he peeled a shrimp for his wife, âLetâs not talk about the past anymore.
Weâre all good now.â
âThatâs right, Grace,â Maxwell said, âAll that has happened is my fault, so donât hold a grudge anymore.â
âI was in the wrong, too,â Alondra said as she pretended to wipe away tears. âIt wonât happen again.
After all, we are all family.â
âThen letâs not talk about it. Instead, letâs all enjoy the meal,â Emmeline suggested, trying to ease the tension in the room.
âWe must look like a bunch of fools to Mr. Benjamin,â Alondra remarked with a smile directed at Benjamin.
âItâs okay. Letâs just enjoy the meal,â Benjamin said as he peeled a shrimp for Emmeline.
Benjamin sent Emmeline and the triplets back after the family gathering.
When they got to the café, it was already ten oâclock.
Since the triplets were already fast asleep, Benjamin carefully carried each of them upstairs and tucked them into bed, one by one.
âThank you for today,â Emmeline said to Benjamin.
âOh? Why are you being so courteous with me?â Benjamin smiled and added, âI hope my performance earlier met your expectations.â
âIt was pretty good,â Emmeline said, âAlondra did all kinds of antics because of your presence.â
âSheâs a real snob!â said Benjamin, âDonât take her lightly, Emma.â
âI know that,â Emmeline said, nodding.
âIâll head back home now.â
âOkay, drive safe.â
Benjamin left after that.
Emmeline ensured that the blankets were tucked in properly around the children before closing the door to their bedroom.
With a green cardboard box in hand, Daisy made her way over.
âMs. Louise, this is for you.â
âWhat?â
âMr. Abel came this afternoon after you and Mr. Benjamin left,â said Daisy.
Emmeline was left without words. What a coincidence. Abel swung by?
Daisy continued, âHe said he wanted to apply ointment for you, but when he found out that you had left with Mr. Benjamin for Louiseâs familyâs residence, he just left the ointment here and went on his way.â
Emmeline was left speechless once again, feeling a little embarrassed. She furrowed her brows and asked, âWhy didnât he call me?â
âCall you?â Daisy said, âMs. Louise, didnât you blacklist him?â
