âDad, Mom, letâs go.â Abel didnât want to argue with Adrien.
âAll right.â Rosaline and Lewis got âAbel!â Adrien pressed on. âYou havenât told me why you need 300 million dollars. Is my year-end bonus going to be affected now?â
âEducate yourself on the canary auction of Imperial Palace,â answered Abel sternly. He then left with his parents.
âThe canary auction?â Adrien mumbled to himself. âI just came there and there was no auction.â
âBecause you are not the target audience,â Adam sneered. âThe auctioneer will only invite people of Abelâs caliber.â
âAre you invited then, Adam?â asked Adrien.
âOf course.â
âThen show me the auction,â Adrien yelled impatiently. âWhich beauty costs 300 million dollars?â
Adam showed Adrien his phone and the latter was stunned. âEmmeline? Canary No. 9?â
âAbel!â Adrien made a beeline to the door. âPlease rescue her!â But Abelâs Rolls-Royce already left the estate.
âAdrien, you imbecile!â Julianna protested.
âWhat do you mean, Mom? I need to save the mother of my sons.â
âYou can have your sons. But we can get rid of Emmeline.â
âBut why? It doesnât work this way,â Adrien protested.
âWhy not?â Julianna continued. âYou can have any girl you want in Struyria as your wife.â
âBut none is as beautiful as Emmeline! Have you seen how she looks?â
âBeauty fades, darling.â Julianna wasnât willing to change her mind. âTrust me. Now is the best time to get rid of her. I can find you another wife.â
âThis is wrong, Mother.â Adrien frowned. âWhat would you feel if Dad did the same thing to you back then?â
âYouâ¦â Julianna raised her arm to slap Adrien.
âEnough.â Adam interrupted the scene. âDad, Mom, go back first. Iâll handle Adrien here.â
Julianna could only glare at Adrien. That spoiled brat was beyond redemption.
Lewis stormed out in silence. Julianna immediately dogged behind her husband. Before leaving, she put in a few words. âTell Adrien to give up on rescuing Emmeline. Itâs 300 million dollars weâre talking about.â
âBe patient, Adrien.â Adam patted Adrienâs shoulder.
âPatient?â Adrien snapped back. âEmma is going to be someoneâs plaything now!â
âI didnât say I wonât rescue her. I will. Just not like the way you imagine.â
âHow then?â inquired Adrien.
âCome to my place. Iâll tell you everything over a meal.â
Just like that, Adam and Adrien went to Avalan in their private cars. When the food was served, they sat beside the table, âAdam, please.â Adrien was getting increasingly nervous. âDonât give me riddles now. Tell me. How are you going to save Emmeline?â
