wonât! I wonât do it again.â Alana wailed. âPlease get someone to pick me up. I want to be treated at the Imperial Palace.â
âWait a little longer!â Adam gritted his teeth. âYou better start thinking about how youâre going to take revenge for what you suffered today when you return!â
âThat goes without saying. Iâm not just going to let this go. Iâd rather die!â
âGood.â His voice was cold. âSend me the location!â
Alana then sent him her location.
She was back at the Imperial Palace an hour and a half later in Section G.
Adam called for a doctor to administer an IV in the room.
âMr. Abel,â Alana started. âAbel already suspects you. Iâve been trying to keep you protected.â
âI know heâs already suspecting me.â The look in his eyes was grim. âThat man isnât an easy one to fool.â
âSo what do we do? Weâre not just going to sit around and wait for him to come to our doors, right?â
âWeâll just have to switch our target to Emmeline,â he said morosely. âDestroy her and Abel will break.â
âSounds like a plan!â
Alana despised Emmeline. She was more than happy to agree to Adamâs plan to cause her harm.
âBut how do we deal with Emmeline? Abel keeps her so well protected.â
âWeâll just have to make use of Grandad,â Adam said. âI always thought something about Emmelineâs identity was suspect.â
âWhat do you mean, Mr. Adam?â She frowned. âDoes Emmeline have another identity?â
âShe knows how to use needles as a secret weapon. She knows how to concoct an antidote for Vampire Dust. These are all traits of someone who comes from Adelmar.â
âAdelmar?â She was still confused donât understand.â
âOf course, you donât. Grandad and the Adelmar family are sworn enemies. Grandad wonât want her around if she really is part of the Adelmars.â
âI remember something. Auntie Alondra said that Emmeline knew how to treat illnesses. Does that also have something to do with the Adelmar family?â
ââ¦â Light flashed in his eyes. âThere was also that drug she had Adrien feed to our motherâ¦â
âWhat drug?â Alana was at a loss.
âMy mother had a heart attack,â he explained. âAdrien got the medicine from Emmeline somehow. She got better after taking them.â
âDo you still have them?â Alana asked.
âThere were five packets in total. Weâre on the last one!â
He suddenly stood up. âI canât allow my mother to keep taking them. Those will serve as proof!â
âBut her healthâ¦â
âI donât care anymore!â He grabbed his jacket and was out the door in an instant.
He got to Juliannaâs ward within half an hour.
She was chatting with Adrien who was peeling an apple for her.
âEmmelineâs quite the magical woman.â Julianna smiled. âMy health has improved so much.â
Adrien sighed. âItâs just a pity she isnât my wife. Itâd be a great fortune to have her as one of us.â
âAh.â She sighed. âYouâve met a lot of women. Are there none like her?â
âI was wondering about that myself.â He sliced up the apple and fed the pieces to his mother. âNo! I have to launch a countrywide search for a woman like her!â
Juliana nearly spit out the apple. She playfully flicked his forehead and laughed. âOf course, youâd come up with a terrible idea like that.â
âHow is that a bad idea?â
He was entirely serious. âWhatâs wrong with me going out of my way to start a countrywide search for marriage? It would be so much easier for me to find someone that looks like Emmeline.â
âBut even if you do find someone that looks like her, theyâd be a different person, no?â
âWhat matters is the heart,â he said. âAnyone that looks like Em should be a good person.â
Her sonâs words did make sense.
Anyone that resembled her would be a bombshell with a cunning look in her eyes.
Emmeline was different. Behind her sparkling eyes was purity.
The heart did matter the most here.
The door suddenly opened as the mother-son duo conversed with one another. The temperature seemed to drop as Adam entered the room.
