âHmph.â Abel smiled coldly and answered, âBenjamin, are you talking nonsense? Iâm a man with responsibility; of course Iâll seek justice for Emmeline. This is not related to my feelings for her.â
âIf sheâs still alive, how will you face her?â Benjamin stared at him.
He pondered for a while and asked, âIs she still alive?â
âWhat if she is?â
âI donât have any feelings for her.â He answered calmly, âI didnât love her back then, so I guess I wonât love her now either.â
Benjamin lowered his head and remained silent.
âLetâs drink,â Abel said. âDonât talk about the nonsense.â
Benjamin waved his hand and signaled the bartender to come over. Before they knew it, they had finished a bottle of hard liquor. Abel ordered another bottle of XO. The two of them were not in a good mood, so they drank hastily. Both of them were drunk, and Benjamin started to cry.
âYouâre useless!â Abel laughed at him and said, âYouâre a man; why are you crying?â
Benjamin sobbed and answered, âYouâre drugged by Waylon, and you forgot about your love for Emma! What about me? What about her? How could you know our feelings?â
Abel frowned and asked, âBenjamin, what did you just say? What did Waylon do to me?â
He wiped his tears off and said, âIâm drunk and simply talking nonsense.â
âBut I heard you saying that Waylon did something to me.â
âHe fed you the medicine for your stomach!â Benjamin said, âIt seems like you totally forgot about it!â
âIndeed, my stomach has been okay recently.â He said, âThe drug from your family is splendid.â
âOf course it is!â Benjamin said, âIf not, how can you be so relaxed nowadays?â Youâre happy without love!â
âWhat are you talking about?â Abel pushed him and said, âSince when Iâm cruel? Look at me? I treat you so well. I know about love!â
âYes, no one would expect the two of us to be best friends despite our familiesâ grudges.â
Benjamin laughed on the spot.
âYouâre drunk,â Abel said. âLetâs send you home so you can rest.â
âYou too,â Benjamin pointed at him, and he said, âyour cheeks are so red as if youâre a shy lady!â
âIâll get back to The Precipice and sleep for the night.â They were sent back by their assistants and bodyguards.
When Benjamin was back at Glenbrook, Janie called him.
Knowing that he was drunk, she quickly drove toward him.
âJanie,â he laid on the sofa drunkenly and said, âyouâre here at the right time; I was about to find you.â
âYouâre drunk; letâs go up to rest.â She wanted to help him.
âListen to me first,â he pushed her hands away and said. âOur matter is still unresolved; what should I do about it?â
Janie was sad hearing his words, but she put on a smile and answered, âIâm not a traditional lady; I wonât be forcing you to be responsible for me. We can let the past be the past.
âThat canât be done.â He shook his head and said, âI would feel like a bastard for it; you have to tell me what you want me to do for you!â
âIf you insistâ¦â She groaned and said, âWhen you love me, please give me a marriage full of love.â
âI canât guarantee you this.â He pinched the bridge of his nose.
âI know youâre in love with Emma,â Janie said. âBut I can wait, since sheâsâ¦â
âItâs not what you think,â he said. âEmmaâ¦â
âDo you want to say that sheâll forever be in your heart?â She mocked herself and said, âI can accept it.â
âThatâs not what I meant.â
âThen what do you want to say?â
âForget it!â He stood up and said, âIâm dizzy; letâs go up to rest.â
Abel was back at The Precipice, and Luca helped him upstairs.
Kendra was coaxing Quincy to sleep, and she heard them and walked to them.
âLuca, why is Mr. Abel so drunk?â âHow much did he drink?â
