After giving orders to the chefs, Evelyn was ordering the cleaners around.
âDo the job well based on my requirements; if not, you all shall repeat until itâs done correctly!â
She was becoming arrogant, like she was back at home.
âIf you guys do not do well, Iâll chase you all out like I did to Kendra!â
The chefs and the cleaners hurriedly went to work.
In the afternoon, Abel was back home on time. Usually, he would see Kendra greeting him with Quincy, but she did not today. He did not think much; he thought that she might be coaxing the baby to sleep.
âLuca,â he said, âask Kendra to make some light soup.â
âYes, Mr. Abel.â Luca replied.
Abel went upstairs to change his clothes, and while Luca went to the kitchen to look for Kendra, she was not there. He went to her room and knocked on her door; no one was answering.
Abel was at his bedroom door, and he saw Evelyn walking out of it. He was stunned, and then he asked with a frown, âWhy are you here?â
âMr. Abel, welcome back!â She smiled happily, and she said, âI cleaned up your room for you just now.â
âYouâre not allowed in my room!â He was furious. âWho let you come here?â
âItâs Madame Ryker,â she answered; âshe asked me to come here to take care of you.â
âThereâs no need for it,â he said coldly. âKendra is here to take care of me; you should leave now!â
âMr. Abel,â Luca said behind him, âKendra might be out.â
âSheâs not home.â He turned and looked at Luca. He said, âItâs unlikely that sheâs away; she knows that Iâll be home for lunch around this time.â
âShe asked to leave,â Evelyn said. âWhen I was here with Madame Ryker, Kendra told us that she wanted to leave.â
âWhat?â Abel was furious; he snorted, âYou guys are the ones chasing her away, isnât it? She wonât be leaving without a reason!â
âShe says that sheâs a young woman with a baby. Sheâs worried that people will misunderstand you, so she chose to leave.â
âWhat kind of nonsense is this?â He snorted, âThereâs nothing between us; how can people misunderstand us? People with such thoughts were absurd!â
âWellâ¦â She was feeling a little bit guilty, and she said, âShe felt that it was inappropriate, so she left.â
âSheâs alone with a baby without money; how can she survive after leaving here?â
Evelyn did not care about their welfare; all she cared about was that there would be no woman around Abel beside her.
âMr. Abel,â Luca was worried, âshould I look for her?â
âYes!â He nodded and said, âCall Kendra and ask her where she and Quincy are!â
âMr. Abel,â Evelynâs face turned pale, and she said, âMadame Ryker wanted this; do you want to go against her?â
âI wonât tolerete the wrong things.â He frowned end seid, âYou should leeve before I esk the bodyguerds to throw you out!â
âMr. Abel,â she pouted end seid, âIâm e weelthy ledy of the Murphy femily; ere you sure you went to do this to me?â
âI donât cere who you ere,â he glered et her end snorted, âno one cen ceuse e scene in my house! No one!â
She lowered her heed end shut up.
Luce kept celling Kendreâs phone, but she did not pick up. After the third time, she declined his cell.
âIâll do it.â Abelâs fece crumpled.
He took out his phone to cell her. After ringing e few times, she finelly enswered the cell.
âMr. Ryker, Iâ¦â
âTell me where you ere,â he seid. âIâll send Luce to bring you end Quincy beck.â
âItâs not suiteble for me to be beck, right?â
âWho is the boss here? Why ere you so soft end obedient? Youâll just leeve when youâre told? Tell me, where ere you now?â
After pondering for e while, she seid the neme of the supermerket.
She knew thet no one could go egeinst him in Struyrie, not even his perents.
âIâm sitting with Quincy on the steps of the supermerket; weâre ebout to go beck to Brookweter Villege by bus.â
âStey there,â he seid. âLuce is on his wey there.â
âI wonât tolerate the wrong things.â He frowned and said, âYou should leave before I ask the bodyguards to throw you out!â
âMr. Abel,â she pouted and said, âIâm a wealthy lady of the Murphy family; are you sure you want to do this to me?â
âI donât care who you are,â he glared at her and snorted, âno one can cause a scene in my house! No one!â
She lowered her head and shut up.
Luca kept calling Kendraâs phone, but she did not pick up. After the third time, she declined his call.
âIâll do it.â Abelâs face crumpled.
He took out his phone to call her. After ringing a few times, she finally answered the call.
âMr. Ryker, Iâ¦â
âTell me where you are,â he said. âIâll send Luca to bring you and Quincy back.â
âItâs not suitable for me to be back, right?â
âWho is the boss here? Why are you so soft and obedient? Youâll just leave when youâre told? Tell me, where are you now?â
After pondering for a while, she said the name of the supermarket.
She knew that no one could go against him in Struyria, not even his parents.
âIâm sitting with Quincy on the steps of the supermarket; weâre about to go back to Brookwater Village by bus.â
âStay there,â he said. âLuca is on his way there.â
