âYes.â Evelyn smiled stiffly. âNo one thought that Emmett was Emmeline. I was surprised too.â
âMe too.â Rosaline nodded. âThe rumors about Abel are gone. Emmeline and Abel are just joking around. Those reporters were too bad to slander Abel!â
âYouâre right.â Evelyn smiled awkwardly. âEmmeline and I are good friends. I havenât had time to greet her yet.â
âYou can wait until sheâs free,â Rosaline said, âI hear youâre here to deliver an invitation?â
âItâs an invitation from my sister Lizbeth and Mr. Adrien.â Evelyn smiled softly. âLiz and Mr. Adrien are getting engaged. They asked me to send the invitation.â
âItâs good news. When is it?â
âItâs the day after tomorrow.â Evelyn took out the invitation and handed it to Rosaline. âThe venue is the banquet hall of the Nimbus Hotel. Welcome to their engagement.â
âOf course.â Rosaline smiled. âCongratulations to Ms. Lizbeth.â
âThank you on Lizâs behalf. Mr. Abel is back too, isnât he?â
Rosaline nodded. âHeâs upstairs playing with the kids.â
âThen Iâll go upstairs and greet Mr. Abel,â Evelyn said gracefully.
âOkay.â Rosaline nodded.
As Emmeline returned, Rosaline did not want Evelyn to be close to Abel again. Abel also had gone upstairs to hide from Evelyn.
However, Evelyn asked to go up and greet Abel. There seemed to be no reason to refuse her.
Hearing Rosalineâs permission, Evelyn went upstairs.
Soon, she saw Abel watching the quadruplets playing in the study.
Timothy and Endymion were programming in front of the computer, Helios was playing with satellite systems, and Hesperus was playing with toys.
Abel thought that his children were creative.
Just as he felt happy, he heard a clear voice at the door. âMr. Abel.â
Abel turned and saw that it was Evelyn coming. He already hid from her but still met her.
Abel replied indifferently, âHmm.â
âMr. Abel, you seem happy today.â Evelyn showed a generous smile. âIs it because Emmeline is back?â
âThis is our business,â Abel answered coldly, âI donât need to explain to you.â
âYou forgot that Emmeline and I are good friends? Iâm also happy that Emmeline is back.â
âIâve never seen you and Emma be friends,â Abel said without looking at her, âWhen did you become so familiar with Emma?â
âWomen easily make friends with each other,â Evelyn said. âYou just donât know about it.â
âYou should go downstairs. Iâm looking after the children. I donât have time to talk to you.â
âBut I want to tell you, Liz is engaged to Mr. Adrien the day after tomorrow. Iâm here to send an invitation.â
âOkay, I got it.â Abel nodded.
Adrien and Lizbeth were finally together. It was good news.
Evelyn asked, âCan I be your dance partner on the day of the engagement reception?â
Abel frowned. âIâm not interested in dancing.â
Evelyn smiled kindly. âOkay then, Iâll help in the kitchen. I wonât bother you.â
âHmm,â Abel still responded coldly.
Evelyn left gloomily. She liked Abel so much, but Abel treated her indifferently.
She was upset. Her appearance should not be worse than Emmelineâs. But Abel never had an interest in her.
Evelyn came downstairs just in time to overhear Rosaline and Luca talking.
âLuca, didnât you say Abel took medicine that lost his feelings for Emmeline? Whatâs going on with them now? I asked Abel, but he refused to answer.â
âMadame Ryker,â Luca answered, âThe medicine of the Adelmar family is powerful. Youâre right. Mr.
Abel lost his feelings for Ms. Louise. Heâs only fulfilling his responsibility.â
Evelyn heard the conversation between them on the stairs and hurriedly hid behind the corner.
What medicine did Abel take? Did he lose his love for Emmeline?
âThat was why Emmeline pretended to be Emmett?â Rosaline asked, âShe didnât dare face Abel with her real identity, did she?â
