Abel was exhausted. He had not been sleeping for eight days. Therefore, he went back to The Precipice.
Kendra hesitated to ask Abel when she saw him unwell. However, she was worried that Henryâs secret might be useful to Abel. She poured Abel a glass of water and placed it on the coffee table before him.
âMr. Abel, may I talk to you?â Kendra said.
âOf course,â said Abel as he took a sip from the glass.
âHenry came to see me that day,â said Kendra.
âWhoâs Henry?â asked Abel.
âHenry Grant, my exâhusband,â answered Kendra.
âDid he harass you?â Abel frowned.
Kendra took a deep breath. She was not sure how to tell Abel about Henryâs outrageous request.
âWhat did he want?â asked Abel.
âHe wanted me to get him a job,â said Kendra.
Abel was relieved. âWhat did he do?â he asked.
âHe was a skilful surgeon, but recently he was fired for accepting a bribe from his patient,â said Kendra.
âOh, the Ryker Hospital has the same policy.â Abel nodded.
Kendra was trying to figure out what to say next.
âHave you promised him?â Abel noticed Kendraâs hesitation.
Kendra nodded. âHe wanted me to ask you for a position at the Ryker Hospital,â she said.
Abel thought for a while. âHe can be an outpatient doctor if he promises to stay ethical.â
âBut⦠he wants to be the head of the surgical department,â said Kendra hesitantly.
âHave you lost your mind?â Abel laughed.
âNo, Mr. Abel. I promised him because he wanted me to tell you something,â explained Kendra.
Abel frowned. âYou can skip it if it is some nonsense.â
âNo, itâs nothing like that.â Kendra blushed, âForget about it. I donât want to know.â Abel stood up from the couch.
âMr. Abel, Henry said he could tell you a secret!â Kendra blurted.
Abel paused, âWhat does that mean?â he asked.
âHenry said he would tell you the secret as soon as you give him the position. He also said the secret is Chapter 733 A Priceless Secret worthy of all your fortune, but he only wanted to be a doctor again,â said Kendra.
âA secret worthy of all my fortune? Right now, I only care about Emmelineâs safety. Does Henry have news about Emmeline?â asked Abel.
âIâve never thought of that. Henry has no connection with Ms. Louise,â said Kendra.
âThere must be a reason he said that. Ask him to meet me,â said Abel.
Kendra did not expect Abel would agree. âNow?â she asked.
âYes, immediately.â Abel felt like his headache had gone away. He was sure that Henry must have some news about Emmeline. Otherwise, he would not dare to make such a request. Abel could easily get rid of Henry if the secret was useless.
âWhere do you want to meet Henry?â asked Kendra.
