âGet lost!â Waylon shot a disdainful glance at Abel, âYou want to spout nonsense like them too?â
Abel was rendered speechless.
Emmeline was laughing so hard that her whole body lurched forward, âWaylon, congratulations! This must be the best news I heard this year! It seems that your lineage could go on! Master Robert doesnât need to worry about not getting a grandchild anymore!â
âYou brat!â Waylon really wanted to punish her, but Abel stopped him from doing so by putting an arm in between them.
âYou really have a good imagination! That woman owes me some money, itâs about the car repair. She is simply paying back my money! Iâm just getting back what I was owed!â Waylon quickly explained.
Emmeline shot a suspicious glance at him, âShe owed you money? Itâs money for car repair too?â
Waylonâs face darkened, âYes!â
âIs that really all? Thatâs so disappointing.â
âThatâs the truth! Itâs nothing like what you are thinking!â
âBut, wait a minute, this is strange,â Emmeline propped up her chin, âShe somehow crashed into two of your cars, right? First, it was the Maybach, then it was the Bugatti. Were those two incidents not coincidental? I am having a hard time believing this is just a coincidence.â
âWhether you believe me or not, thatâs up to you,â Waylon took his jacket from the sofa, âAnyway, I will come back after getting my money back. Wait for me!â
Everyone looked at each other blankly.
He left Macsen Villa in a hurry, and he found the bank he was supposed to rendezvous with Doris.
Doris shoved her hands into the pockets of her jeans, and she was just standing next to an ATM machine.
Waylon noticed her from afar when he was still in his car. She had a ponytail, and she was wearing a white T-shirt and grey jeans. She was wearing old-school white sneakers as well.
She looked just like a high school kid who was brimming with energy.
Only then Waylon realized that she was such a beauty as well.
He had never thought of her in such a way.
He only thought that Emma was the prettiest woman in the world and that there was no other woman who could rival her.
However, it turned out that Doris was a looker herself.
He parked the car and walked toward her.
âMr. Adelmar! Right here!â
Doris was happy to finally see him. She was about to cross the road to rendezvous with him.
She had an innocent look on her face as she marched toward Waylon. She did not notice that a car was careening at her.
Just as the car almost crashed into her, Doris let out a squeal and dodged the car.
The car braked momentarily to avoid hitting her, but she fell to the road at the same time.
The car screeched to a stop and a man craned his neck out of the window angrily, âDonât you see when you walk? Youâre trying to get yourself kill, arenât you? Damn you, woman!â
Doris was stumped as she was sprawled out on the road. She knew that it was her fault, so she did not argue back.
However, her ankle hurt so much that tears began to well up in her eyes.
Waylon jogged toward her after seeing all that. He squatted down and asked, âAre you alright?â
The man came down from the car too. His face was blackened, âYou saw what happened. I didnât bump into her. She fell down herself. Although I nearly crashed into her, I jumped up in shock too!â
âItâs fine, this has nothing to do with you,â Doris waved at that man, âItâs my own fault. You can go now!â
âWait!â Waylon stood up, âYou should at least send her to the hospital first. Donât you know how to handle such accidents?â He said to that man.
Now, it was that manâs turn to be stumped.
Doris said hastily, âLet him go, itâs really not his fault. I was the one who didnât see the road carefully.â
âSee, she said so herself. You canât pin the blame on me!â The man announced and jumped back into his car. Soon, the car roared into the distance.
Waylon squatted down again and there was a deep frown on his face, âAre you having problems with all the cars in the world nowadays? Usually, people would fake an accident to scam people of their money, but I didnât see you do that at all.â
Doris did not know what to say. He had a point.
âIf I was still driving, I would have bumped into you, I figure,â Waylon didnât look so good right now, âLuckily, I have parked my car!â
âDonât say that,â Doris was teary-eyed, âMy ankle hurt so much!â
âThis is such a hassle! I shouldnât have come! I am not hurting for money at all!â
As Waylon complained, he picked her up into his arms.
âHey,â Doris was caught off guard by his movement as she settled into his embrace, âWhat are you doing? Put me down!â
