Aurora
Klaus staggered away, holding his neck.
âYou bitch!â he gurgled as blood poured out of his mouth.
I watched in horror as he pulled the bone out of his neck and covered the wound, trying to contain the blood that gushed out of it.
âIâm gonna kill you!â he shouted. He leapt forward and took a chunk of my hair in a tight grip.
âLet me go!â I screamed, pushing against his chest, struggling to get loose.
He punched me in the gut, taking all the breath from me. I bent over in pain, but he didnât stop there.
He pulled me back by the hair, turning me face to him. âIâll send you back to your pack in pieces.â
His mouth elongated, and he bared his fangs. âIâm gonna rip you apart! Then Iâll take care of that pack of yours.â
He tried to bite me in the neck, to rip out my throat, but I wrenched away and his teeth sank into my shoulder.
~âRhea! I need you! Help me shift!â~ I called out to my wolf, but she was too weak.
I watched as she tried to direct her power to me, but she couldnât.
The best she managed to do was to make my nails grow into claws. I scratched Klaus in his eye, partially blinding him.
âFucking bitch! Iâm gonna tear you into fucking pieces!â he growled, staggering back.
I seized the opportunity and made a dash toward the door, but he took a hold of my bitten arm and rammed me against the wall.
I groaned in pain, but turned but in time to see him charging at me. I managed to dodge the impact by throwing myself to the side.
He hit the wall, and I saw it crack. He had mostly transformed into his wolf.
His mouth had grown into a long snout. His legs were awkwardly bent, like a dogâs hind legs. His hands were like claws, and his eyesâ¦
They shone a deadly red as he focused on me. His prey.
âIâm gonna kill you!â he growled, his voice grave and even more threatening.
I staggered to my feet, holding my bleeding shoulder.
The wolfsbane must still be in my system. The wound wasnât healing.
If I wasnât careful, one of his blows could be fatal.
I had to think of some way to kill him if I wanted to escape.
I looked around the room and spotted his silver dagger. It must have fallen when I attacked him.
If I can manage to hit him, it had better be a fatal blow.
~âRhea. I know youâre weak, but I need you now more than ever. Please lend me your strength!â I called out to my wolf.~
She looked paler than before. It was like she was dying.
Klaus let out a blood-curdling howl and charged at me once more.
~âRhea, please! I need you!â~
She forced herself up, limping over to me. She extended her paw, and I reached out for it.
~âThis is all the strength I can muster,â~ she said before falling to the ground.
I felt Rheaâs strength course through my body. I used it to enhance my speed, ducking as Klaus swiped his claws at me. I ran past him to the dagger.
He swung around and lunged with his claws at me once more, but I managed to deflect it, then kicked him in the gut.
He staggered back again, holding his stomach, but then he lunged at me again.
I grabbed the silver dagger and swung it.
But it was too late. He was on me, biting down on my ribcage.
âAaaahhh!â I shouted in pain. His powerful fangs dug deep into my flesh, breaking through my ribs and puncturing my lung.
I punched and struggled to get free, but he wouldnât budge.
Then I took the dagger in my hand and raised it as high as I could.
I hit him once again in the throat, right where I had injured him with the bone. The handle broke off.
The silver dagger wouldnât let his wounds heal. Not this time.
He let go of me, staggering back as he tried to pull the knife out of his wound, but the silver burned his hands and his neck.
I watched as he transformed back into his human form.
He coughed up blood as he fell to his knees, then fell flat onto his stomach.
It was overâ¦
Iâd killed him.
I was free.
âRhea! Rhea, we did it. Iâm going to get us out of here, and then Iâll help you recover,â I told my wolf. She was still lying there, unresponsive.
I tried to walk to the door, when suddenly I lost all my strength and fell to the ground.
I gripped my ribs, coughing up blood.
Each breath I took felt like I was underwater. My lung was filling with blood, making breathing hard.
I was dying. I was going to die here, alone, in this godforsaken dungeon.
I crawled over to the door, but I couldnât get it open. I had no more strength left in me.
âNo, no, no!â I tried to summon one last bit of strength, but it was all gone.
I was going to die here.
Tears were streaming from my eyes once more.
~âRhea, Iâm sorry. I couldnât save usâ¦â~
