Chapter 48: Unleashed

Hated by My Mate: The Unwanted LunaWords: 10078

Aurora

We met Alpha Magnar in the dining hall where they had all sorts of delicacies served.

I hadn’t realized how hungry I was until my stomach decided to make embarrassing noises. I’m certain every wolf in the room heard, thanks to their wolfish hearing.

I quickly grabbed my tummy as I tried to hide my face, which was completely red. Wolfgang was chuckling behind me.

Alpha Magnar’s booming laughter echoed throughout the room. “There’s no need to be embarrassed, Lady Aurora. If you’re hungry, dig in!”.

He gestured for Wolfgang and I to take a seat.

We both obliged, and the maids placed plates in front of us, both of them filled to the rim of food.

When I placed the first forkful in my mouth, I couldn’t help the moan of satisfaction that slipped through my mouth.

Alpha Magnar roared in laughter once more.

~Damn it, it seems like I am here only to amuse this guy.~

“Anyway. Have you two found anything useful in our records?” he asked.

“We have, alpha. And it seems to connect with a piece of information we got on the way here, of a woman who lives in Nome,” Wolfgang answered.

“That’s wonderful news!” he said.

Right then, we heard a commotion on the other side of the door, then someone barged into the hall.

“I do not care if he has the Queen of England here, I need to speak to him,” resonated a cringeworthy voice, one I hadn’t heard since before being held captive by Klaus.

Rhea started to growl in my mind. ~“What the fuck is she doing here?”~ she seethed.

“Tallulah? What’s the meaning of this?” Alpha Magnar spoke as we all stared at the blonde she-wolf, who was standing there in shock, looking at Wolfgang and I.

“What the fuck are those two doing here, Magnar?” she growled, throwing daggers at us.

“These are my guests, Tallulah. What are you doing here? You were not announced as a visitor?” Magnar said, and for the first time I saw a serious alpha using his authoritative aura.

“Your guest?” she scoffed. “A so-called alpha—I have my doubts about his masculinity—and a useless, lowly, omega maid. Some kind of guests you have.”

I felt my blood start to boil, but I did my best to keep my cool. Rhea, on the other hand, was ready to launch herself at the blonde.

Magnar rose from his seat. “Tallulah Wilhelm. I will not tolerate any type of disrespect toward the Alpha and Luna of the Blood Moon pack,” he growled.

He glared at her. “What is the purpose of your visit? As I said before, you arrived here unannounced.”

She stared at me, and then at Wolfgang in disbelief.

“So, you just go around naming anyone your Luna, then?” she said to Wolfgang as she glared at me.

~“Aurora, let me take over. I want to rip her throat open!’ Rhea said.~

I wanted to give in, but I did my best to keep calm.

“Enough, Tallulah!” Magnar roared. “Is there an actual reason you’re here, other than to be disrespectful to my guests?!”

“Yes there is, Magnar. I heard that these…excuses for wolves were here, and I came to warn you to not trust them!” she said to the copper-haired alpha.

“I already told your father that I would not side with him, just because Alpha Wolfgang broke off his engagement to you, ~’princess’~.”

He arched an eyebrow. “As for your comment about them being ~excuses for wolves?~ You’re talking about the alpha of one of the most powerful packs in the continent, and his mate, who happened to be the wolf who killed the strongest rogue who has been threatening us all!”

“Not to mention that she did it all under the effects of wolfsbane, but you already knew that part, didn’t you, Tallulah?” Wolfgang suddenly interjected. He also got to his feet.

Tallulah took a step back, her eyes widened in shock.

“That’s not… Where did…” she started to stammer.

“Oh, you thought we wouldn’t find out?” he asked her. “And still she placed her life in jeopardy for you, and everyone at the pack, and fought that rogue.”

“Wolfsbane? Lady Aurora, I had no idea. You’re amazing!” Alpha Magnar turned toward me as he praised me, and this infuriated Tallulah even more.

“This is ridiculous! You’re all praising this lowly, omega wolf as if she’d found the cure for cancer!” she shouted.

“Tallulah, I’m warning you…” Magnar started to say, but I cut him off.

“It’s okay, Alpha Magnar. Let her vent all her anger out. I really don’t care what she says or thinks about me,” I said as I also got up from my seat.

“The dinner was delicious, Alpha Magnar. I’ll head off now. Please excuse me,” I said as I bowed to the copper-haired man and made my way to the door.

“I’m not done with you!” she growled.

“But I am, Tallulah. Have a good night,” I said. I continued toward the door, but she grabbed my arm.

“Back off, Tallulah,” I said. I tried to tug my arm away, but she had an iron grip on it.

“I’ll show all of you who’s the better wolf here,” she seethed. She raised her free hand, her claws exposed.

“Tallulah! Don’t!” I heard Wolfgang’s voice in the distance, but I didn’t dare turn my sight away from the blonde.

She threw herself at me, her claws out.

The only thing running through my mind was pushing her away.

At that moment, an invisible force came between us, and Tallulah went flying across the room.

I stood there in shock, as if I were watching it all in slow motion, but broke out of my trance when I heard a dish break.

I turned to see that one of the maids had seen it all. Surprised was etched across her face.

“Are you alright?” Wolfgang said, coming to stand protectively before me. I only nodded, still looking at my shaking hands.

“You bitch! What the fuck was that?” Tallulah growled as she staggered to get back to her feet.

Magnar stood between the three of us.

“That is enough, Tallulah! Leave from this place right away. You and all members of your father’s pack are banned from ever stepping foot here in Buckland ever again!” Alpha Magnar roared.

“Guards!! Get her out of here immediately before I decide to place her in the dungeons where she belongs!” he roared.

Warriors came from the other room, and one of them tried to take a hold of Tallulah’s arm, but she quickly snatched it out of his grip.

“I’ll see myself out!” she scoffed. “You’ll pay for everything,” she said to me. She turned and went out the door.

Magnar turned around to face us.

“I’m sorry you two had to face such an uncomfortable situation. Lady Aurora, are you alright?” he asked.

“I’m…fine, alpha. Thank you…I’ll head to my room now. Goodnight,” I said before dashing out of the dining hall.

But I wasn’t so fast that I could avoid hearing Magnar begin questioning Wolfgang about what had just happened.

I ran straight up the stairs and down the hall, until I reached our room.

I went inside and marched to the bathroom to the sink and turned the faucet on. I took a handful of water and splashed it all over my face.

When I came out, Wolfgang was standing there, waiting for me.

“I told you already. I’m fine.” I said and walked past him and sat on the bed. He still stood in front of the bathroom door staring at me.

“I contacted Remus. I told him we’ll be leaving for Fairbanks tomorrow,” he said.

I nodded, and we both fell silent once more. We were in that awkward silence for a few minutes.

He stood over at the door, silently staring at me. I was looking at the floor, but I could feel his gaze on me.

“Don’t look at me as if I am some strange bug. I’m creeped out enough about this all,” I snapped at him.

“I’m sorry, Aurora,” he said, looking down at his feet. “But I never thought you were some strange bug. On the contrary. I thought what you just did was awesome.”

He came and sat next to me on the bed. “I think you are the most extraordinary wolf I’ve ever met, and I’m sorry I didn’t realize that before,” he said, hanging his head.

~“Say something, stupid,”~ Rhea spoke in my mind.

“Wolfgang, I…” I started to speak, but suddenly felt sick to my stomach. “I need some air,” I said instead, before getting up and running out of the room.

I walked through the corridor and down the stairs, and eventually found a huge glass door that led to what I assumed was the backyard.

As soon as I stepped outside, I let out a breath of relief.

~“Aurora! Why did you run away like that?” Rhea reprimanded me.~

~“I can’t do it, Rhea. Not just yet. I can’t forgive him! It’s not fair!”~ I felt tears threatening to fall, but I forced myself to hold them in.

“Is someone out here?” I heard a feeble voice ask.

“I’m sorry. Yes, I came out here for some fresh air,” I walked over to the door and found an elder she-wolf leaning heavily on a walking stick.

“Who are you, my child? Your scent isn’t from around here,” she asked.

“Oh, no ma’am. I’m Aurora Craton. I’m here with Alpha Wolfgang, looking for information about my mother, Rebecca Blanc,” I told the old lady.

“So you’re the wolf every maid has been talking about,” she said, adjusting her glasses. “Aah, I can see it now. The resemblance,” she said.

“You knew my mother?” I asked her, shocked.

“Knew her? I helped the old witch, Eleanor, raise her,” she giggled. “What a fine and powerful wolf she was.”

She looked up at the moon. “And it seems you’ve inherited her power,” she turned to look at me once more.

“Her powers? What do you mean?” I asked the older wolf.

“One of the maids said that you pushed the Wilhelm pup away from you without even touching her. Your mother did that also once, to a wolf that kept pestering her.”

She laughed as she reminisced.

“My mother could do things like that?” I asked her, shocked.

“Yes. That, and many other things. But what made her even more special was her wolf. When she shifted, she’d turn into a beautiful white fur wolf with amethyst eyes.”

I couldn’t help the gasp that escaped my mouth.

This was a huge revelation.

My mother and I had had the same shift!
