Chapter 70: Sudden Arrival

Hated by My Mate: The Unwanted LunaWords: 10868

Wolfgang

Last night I had almost had my mate in my arms.

For the first time, she had been the one to initiate kissing. If it weren’t for that fucking witch, we may have done it right there in the passageway.

I knew she had been beginning her heat phase.

She had been emanating a lot of pheromones, but I wanted to believe that she was willing to be with me because she also wanted to. She could have just let me go when I was going to, right?

But she held me back and kissed me nonetheless.

After dinner, I decided it’d be better if I left. Somehow, after the kiss, her heat had increased, and the scent was driving Cronnos crazy, making it hard to control him.

Once back at the mansion, I had to take a really cold shower to control myself.

The next day I decided I’d avoid her while she was still in heat and I’d keep myself cooped up in the office.

Since she was going through it, I doubted she’d even leave the house. She was marked by me and everyone in the village knew she was my mate, but still, since the mating hadn’t been complete, she’d attract other males.

Just the thought of another wolf touching her again made my blood boil. Images of what Klaus did to her ran in my mind, causing me to hate myself for endangering her forever.

I had buried myself in paperwork when Remus mind-linked me.

~“Alpha, sorry for disturbing, but Alpha Sierra from the Night Walker pack is at the border and is requesting an urgent audience with you.”~

Alpha Sierra? What would bring her here all of a sudden?

“Is she alone or did she come with others?” I asked my gamma.

“She has come along with her beta couple and the male gamma, Alpha. It seems urgent, sir.”

“Very well. Allow them to come,” I answered as I finished typing a few things on the computer.

Not long after, the scent of foreign wolves hit me right before Remus knocked at the door.

“Come in,” I called as Remus opened and came in with the famous female alpha and her little caravan. She was beautiful as everyone said and her stance screamed power.

She had suddenly been raised to the alpha position after the annihilation of her parents on a recent attack. Both her parents, the beta and gamma families had died, leaving her as the sole heir to the alpha position.

Now, in our world, only the male inherited the positions such as alpha, beta, or gamma. But since there was no one to take over, the council made an exception and made her the first female alpha to rule a pack.

Many people including myself had our doubts about a woman ruling a pack as big as the Night Walker pack, but she had proven us all wrong.

In another life, I may have proposed a contract bond with her, but not anymore.

Aurora was with me now; she had finally accepted becoming my mate and I’d die if I do the dumbest thing and choose someone else over her once more.

“Thank you for receiving me and my pack on such short notice, Alpha Gagliardi,” she spoke.

“May I know the reason for your sudden visit, Alpha Sierra?” I asked, cutting straight to the chase.

“Straightforward as I heard. Well, I’ll make this short.

“As you know, I have yet to find my mate, and the counsel is pressuring me to find a mate,” she spoke casually as she sat before me.

I swore I saw Remus’s eyes bulge as he too saw where this conversation was heading.

“I’m flattered that you’d want to ask me into a contract bond, Alpha Sierra, but I already have a mate and I have no intentions of cutting the bond,” I said right away.

“What?” She started laughing hysterically all of a sudden.

“Oh no, no, no Alpha Gagliardi. I’m not seeking to form a contract bond with you who are already mated to my role model,” she said in between tears as she tried to control her laughter.

I cleared my throat as I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. Cronnos cackled like a wild hen in my head. Remus also tried to suppress a laugh as he disguised it with a cough.

“Your role model, you say? You mean Aurora?” I asked to change the humiliating moment.

“Well, of course! Who other than Lady Aurora, who fought and killed on her own the most powerful and deadliest rogue in all werewolf history. She’s my idol!” she said as her eyes sparkled with joy.

“You know about my mate’s battle with Klaus?” I asked, astonished.

“Who doesn’t? She had been all of our pack’s savior!” She squealed excitedly like a little girl.

~“Wow. Our mate has fans,”~ Cronnos whistled, impressed.

I was too. I knew my mate was an incredible person, but I never expected she’d be acknowledged by other packs as well. She was really incredible.

“Then why have you come to our pack?” I asked her.

“Well, I am searching for my mate. I want to find the one who the Moon Goddess has assigned for me and not form a family by a stupid contract.” She grimaced. “So I was hoping you’d allow me to begin here,” she said.

“Well, I don’t see any problem in that. In fact, we could organize a gathering with the packs so maybe you’d find him here.

“How long are you planning to stay here?” I asked her as I realized that even though she was an alpha, she was willing to look for true love and not just raise her pack with power.

~“You were the only idiot willing to do that,”~ Cronnos mocked me.

“At least three days before I head over to Moon Stone pack,” she said. “But also…” She started to talk with hesitance.

“Yes?” I asked, encouraging her.

“I was hoping I’d get the honor of meeting Lady Aurora as well. I’m hoping I could maybe become her friend,” she timidly said.

I couldn’t help but smile. I better watch out.

Aurora was becoming more and more famous and I’d have to share her with more people, but it was nice to know that people recognized her and admired her.

I could take her to Aurora’s place and have them acquainted before the gathering.

~“Yeah. That’s just an excuse to go see our mate even though you said you’d avoid her while in heat,”~ Cronnos taunted.

~“Shut it.”~

“That’s fine by me. Aurora had been unwell today, so she stayed home for the day, but I could take you there and introduce you to her,” I said and her face lit up even more.

“That’d be such an honor, alpha Gagliardi! Thank you so much!” She beamed. “You hear that, Rossy? I’m gonna meet Lady Aurora!” she said to the female beta.

She was jumping up and down like a little kid while she spoke to her betas and gamma when a loud booming sound came from the backyard, followed by the sound of glass shattering.

We all ran out the office, down the stairs, and out to the backyard when I came face-to-face with a barren garden. It seemed like a huge typhoon had hit suddenly.

A few wolves were groaning in pain, scattered, and in the center of our now destroyed training court stood Aurora. Her face screamed terror as she looked at everything and everyone. Then her eyes fell on alpha Sierra.

They stood on her for a long time before she finally met my eyes.

Panic was written all over them.

Someone yelping caught my attention at the moment.

“Remus! Get all the injured to the infirmary ward! Now!” I ordered my gamma who ran toward the people who seemed injured.

“Aurora…” Eleanor spoke and looked at my mate, who was shaking in fear.

“Lady Aurora… how’d…?” Remus asked, but she suddenly took off and ran deep into the woods.

“Aurora!” I called after her, but she just kept running.

“Remus, mind-link Max and take care of everyone here. Have the Night Walker pack’s caravan installed,” I ordered.

“Yes sir,” Remus answered as he took over command.

“~Don’t worry about anything. I’ll take care of everything, Alpha. Go after Lady Aurora,”~ Max mind-linked me.

I’d be forever grateful for my men.

I ran off behind her, shifting midway to try and get a grasp of her scent. She couldn’t have gone far.

~“Cronnos, do you feel her anywhere near?”~ I asked my wolf, who was busy trying to sense his mate.

~“She’s close. I can sense Rhea. They’re in distress. They need us,”~ Cronnos said as he fastened the pace.

We kept running for almost forty more minutes when vanilla hit my senses.

We found her.

She was sitting by the lake, her head buried in her knees as she shook.

~“Aurora…”~ I called out in mind-link, and she lifted her tear-stained face to meet my eyes. It pained me to see her like this.

“I’m sorry,” she cried out before burying her head in her hands as she began weeping stronger.

I wanted to shift back and hold her in my arms, but, unfortunately, I had shifted without taking off my clothes and securing them, and I didn’t want to hold her butt naked.

So, I curled myself around her and used my tail to wrap around her body.

“It’s okay, babe. I’m here,” I cooed as I tried to console her.

“It’s not okay! I hurt so many people, Wolfgang! What if I can never learn to control my powers!” she cried out as she hugged my fur and buried her face deeper into it.

“It was an accident, Aurora. No one was gravely injured,” I tried again.

“They all looked at me with fear, as if I was a monster. I felt like one. I hate this,” she kept crying.

“You’re not a monster, Aurora. You’re too kind to be one,” I said to her.

“Yes, I am. I am not fit to be Luna if I’m the reason to endanger our pack. I understand if you’d choose that female alpha instead of me,” she said.

That enraged me.

“Listen to me, Aurora. You are the perfect wolf to become my Luna, and I would never choose anyone over you ~ever~ again.”

I reprimanded her. “You’re still learning to control your powers. With time and practice, you’ll be able to get it.”

“But… What if I don’t?” she asked as she finally looked me in the eye.

“What if I never get to control my powers? I don’t want to ever harm anyone of the pack again,” she said.

Goddess, she was so perfect with that huge heart of hers.

I shifted back into my human form without thinking and rounded my arms around her body, hugging her as if my life depended on it.

“You will. I will be with you every step of the way, and together we’ll get through everything.

“I love you, Aurora, and you know that I’m here to stay. I won’t let you go until I die.”

“You really mean it?” she asked.

I leaned my forehead against hers as I looked her in the eye. “I really do, Aurora. You’re the only one for me,” I assured her.

She looked at me with those beautiful gray eyes staring into my own for a while before she threw her arms around my neck so she could give me a warm embrace.

“Thank you, Wolfgang. Thank you for changing and thank you for being such a good mate the last couple of weeks,” she said as she smiled.

~Goddess, please allow me to live moments like these with my mate.~

She was so perfect. I’d never leave her ever again for any other wolf.
