Chapter 74: Whirlwind of Emotions

We managed to have everything ready, and by nightfall, the yard had changed into a beautiful scenery out of a fairytale book.

Alpha Sierra’s colors were magenta and gold, so the place looked magnificent once the tablecloths and decorations were set out.

While supervising that everything was done to perfection, Wolfgang came out with our guest of honor.

I felt ashamed to meet her after my little tantrum from the day before, but I was surprised to find out that I was her role model.

When she saw me, she practically sprinted over to where I stood beside the rose garden and gave me a bone-crushing hug.

“Oh, my goddess! I can’t believe I’m finally meeting you! It is such an honor, Aurora!” she exclaimed as she held me at arm’s length.

“Alpha Sierra, it’s a pleasure to officially meet you,” I said and bowed my head, showing respect to our guest.

“Oh please, there is no need to bow before me. If anything, it should be me groveling at your feet for your awesomeness, Luna Aurora.”

“And please, just Sierra is fine,” she added with a wolfish grin.

“I was telling your mate here that you have been my inspiration in becoming the only female alpha, and proving our worth and strength as leading women of the pack,” she punched the air as she said ~pack~.

Wolfgang wrapped his arm around my waist. “She really is a woman to admire. Not once, but twice she’s put my strength and leadership to shame and saved our pack from foes.”

He gave me a sweet kiss on the top of my head.

“Aww,” she cooed. “This is what I’m looking for! My mate, someone who’ll treat me as an equal and not try to be above me.”

Wolfgang and I exchanged quick glances.

“So much for the equality part,” Eleanor’s voice came from behind us as she eyed Wolfgang up and down, her arms crossed over her chest.

“Eleanor. Where have you been?” I asked as we turned to face her.

“I would have asked you the same Rors, but by the look of the freshly made mark on that alpha mutt’s neck, I don’t have to bother on knowing the answer.”

Wolfgang growled at her as I tried to have him relax, rubbing his arms.

“I see you’ve met the she-wolf alpha that had your raging jealousy running wild Rors.” She said as she nodded her head over to Alpha Sierra.

“Eleanor, this is Alpha Sierra of the Night Walker pack. She is here in search of her fated mate. Sierra, this is my godmother, Eleanor.”

I quickly made introductions hoping this would make the awkwardness that Eleanor caused disappear. How wrong was I…

“Pleasure, dear. I’m Eleanor Winchester.” She said as she extended her hand out to Sierra who hesitantly took it.

She must be wondering why my godmother would be a witch and why we are even acquainted with one given the latest circumstances.

“Tell me, dear, has the alpha mutt told you how he and my dearest goddaughter started off their relationship?” Eleanor inquired.

“Eleanor… Don’t,” I said to her in a warning tone as Wolfgang let out a menacing growl.

My anger matched that of Wolfgang’s because of her inappropriate conversation topic.

“Oh, I… heard something, but it’s hard to believe seeing the way Alpha Gagliardi watches over his mate,” Sierra answered innocently, walking right into her trap.

“Well, you’d be surprised to know—”

I didn’t let Eleanor finish. I created a gust of wind to fly through a mountain of dried leaves and land right on her face.

“Oh my… Eleanor, are you alright? Where did that sudden wind come from? Come on, let me take you inside and get you all cleaned up,” I said as I grabbed her arms and guided her inside the pack house.

I winked at Wolfgang who chuckled at what I did while Sierra stood dumbfounded wondering how did that happen.

I dragged her into the house and up to Wolfgang’s office, locking the door behind us.

“What the hell was that for?” I almost screamed. “Why would you bring that up?!”

“Just testing you out. It seems mating with that mutt has helped you with controlling your powers,” she said nonchalantly as she examined her perfectly manicured nails.

I looked at her dumbfounded. “Are you kidding me? That was the best you could come up with to rile me up? That was completely uncalled for Eleanor!”

I was fuming. I could feel my blood boiling.

“You can’t just go around talking to people about how shitty my relationship started out!”

“Rory…” Eleanor tried to talk to me but I wouldn’t let her.

“No! You’re putting me out there without my consent!” I screamed.

“Aurora!” She tried talking but I was so fed up that I wouldn’t even let her talk.

“I don’t go around announcing to any and everyone about what happened between Wolfgang and me! If I got over it, you should too!”

“AURORA!” Eleanor grabbed my arms and shook me, making me stop my ranting when everything around me was flying around us in an intrepid whirlwind.

“Wh—what the…” I started to say when the whirlwind disappeared and everything in the office fell into chaos around the office.

“And you say you’re over it. Look how easily riled up you got. You wasted your time and forgot to focus on what’s important, which is to learn to control these emotions.”

“There are people after you,” she continued, “and if you don’t learn how to protect yourself, not only will you die, but all those around that you love.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked her.

What threat could be out there? I had managed to scare Wendell away, and no other pack would dare to attack us.

“You don’t actually believe the hunters won’t come back for you? You’ve been that guy’s obsession ever since he found out and he is preparing an even more fierce army to attack.”

Her shout echoed off the walls of the room. For the first time, I saw her lose composure.

“How do you know that?” I asked as I took a step back, being wary of her for the first time since I met her.

“The witch lines. They all are talking about it. Wendell is thirsty with vengeance. He won’t stop until he sees you dead.”

I felt a cold chill run down my spine, not for the idea of someone hunting me down, but for the idea of putting my family at risk.

The office door suddenly busted open and in came Wolfgang, running like a berserk rhino.

“Rory! Are you okay?!” he asked as he practically pushed Eleanor out of the way and held me at arm’s length, looking at me from head to toe, checking for any injuries on my body.

When he was sure I was unharmed, was when he could properly assess the mess in his office.

“What happened in here?” He addressed Eleanor this time.

“Did you do this, witch?” he growled and I swear the ground shook beneath us.

He took a menacing step towards her as she quickly raised her hands in surrender mockingly.

“Sorry. Not me, mutt,” she said as she pointed to me. “Her.”

“Ror…” he turned to face me. “You did…?”

He couldn’t finish the word and just gestured around the room. I numbly nodded my head.

“How is this…” he started to ask but Eleanor cut him off.

“She needs to train more. Aurora has yet to fully grasp how great yet how dangerous her powers as a daughter of the moon goddess is.”

“Wendell Grosvenor is out there getting an army to take you all down, and you’re thinking about throwing a fucking party tonight.” She berated us like two teens who got caught in the janitor’s closet.

Without another word, she walked out of the room, leaving Wolfgang and me alone.

“Are you really okay, babe?” He said as he took hold of my hands, squeezing them a bit too tight.

“I… I am. How’d you know?” I asked, realizing that he was the only one who came. Everyone else was busy out in the yard so no one heard the ruckus.

“The mate bond, baby. I felt when you were suddenly angry, distressed and then afraid. I came rushing as soon as I felt it.” He said as he gently stroked my left cheek.

“How did you do this?” he asked.

“I… don’t know. I was blinded by my anger and just lost. Next thing I know, everything was just flying around before it crashed down.” I said as I played with the hem of my shirt, unable to face my mate.

~What if he thinks I’m a danger to everyone?~

“Well, I was planning on changing it, but I didn’t expect a total makeover, but since it was done by you babe, I love it,” he said as he embraced me, effectively calming me down.

“You’ll get through it, babe. You’ll be able to control it. You’ll get a hand of it and you’ll be the best matriarch for our pack. Don’t worry babe. I have faith in you, so have faith in yourself.”

Maybe he was right. I can get through this. I can keep everyone safe.
