Chapter 104
Joanna smiled. âMay I take the food to go?â
Millie stared at Joanna, wondering what she was up to.
Joanna glared at her with a burning desire for revenge. She couldnât forget how Millie had made her purchase an excessive amount of drinks at the bar.
âDr. Lowell, you may order whatever you want to eat. Iâm fine with it,â Millie replied earnestly.
Their colleagues glanced at the pair, sensing the tension in the air.
Joanna summoned the waiter and asked, âWhat is the most expensive dish on the menu?â
âMs. Lowell, five exquisite lobsters have just arrived from Arbalia today. Their average price is about two thousand dollars each,â replied the waiter.
The others were shocked upon hearing the price. It cost two thousand dollars per lobster. Clearly, they were not eating lobsters but money.
âWe want them all.â Joanna smiled.
The waiter was stunned and wondered whether she was truly ordering all the lobsters.
Joanna tilted her head, took a sip of water, and asked, âWhy? Are you unwilling to pay, Dr. Caldwell?â
The Caldwell family made a huge impression at the hospital today. The Cardiac Surgery Department became the department with the highest happiness index, and everyone wanted to be a part of it.
It would be funny if Millie said she wanted to treat everyone to dinner tonight but then didnât want to pay. All eyes were on her, and no one dared to speak. It was obvious that Joanna had some issues
with her.
âSure.â Millie smiled. It was just a few lobsters.
âThis exquisite lobster tastes really delicious. Dr. Lowell is extremely thoughtful. How careless of me for not thinking of that! Please donât mind my blunder.â
Millie smiled and nodded at the waiter, ordering, âPlease assist us in preparing the lobsters in several different ways so that everyone can enjoy a variety of flavors.â
âYes, Ms. Caldwell.â The waiter nodded immediately
Everyoneâs eyes were brimming with admiration. Millieâs response showed how incredibly emotionally intelligent she was. She was far from being stingy and offered Joanna a way out.
Joannaâs expression immediately turned frigid. She tightly clenched the glass in her hand, seething with anger.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and couldnât help but smile. With a press of the answer button, she picked up the phone and uttered softly, âWin.â
Millie paused drinking her water when she heard Joannaâs words before resuming silently.

âIâm currently at a Jiican restaurant across the hospital, room 3022. Iâm attending a departmental gathering. Alright, Iâll wait for you.â Then, Joanna hung up.
The waiter began serving the dishes, all of which were seafood. The presentation was exquisite, making them look absolutely mouthwatering.
Millie pointed outside and said, âIâm heading to the restroom.â
Everyone responded to acknowledge her.
Millie walked out of the private room and sighed. Being with Joanna was always too tense. She made her way to the cashier and rapped on the marble countertop.
âHi, I would like to pay the bill for room 3022.â
Millie was momentarily taken aback because she wasnât the one who said that. She shifted her gaze and locked eyes with Winston, who met hers with an emotionless expression.
He lowered his gaze at Millie, wondering why she was there.
The cashier kindly said, âSir, the total bill for room 3022 is 17 thousand dollars.â
Winston was taken aback by the astonishing bill for the Jiican cuisine.
Millie pursed her lips and took Winstonâs card away, stating firmly, âIâll pay.â
âAre you and Joanna working in the same department?â Winston was surprised.
âYes. Iâm sitting right across from your unforgettable first love,â Millie said calmly as she handed over a credit card.
Just before the waiter could grab it, a slender and delicate hand gracefully snatched Millieâs card.
Winstonâs voice softened slightly as he said, âIâll pay for it.â
Millie gazed at him intently, her curiosity piqued by his unexpected display of tenderness. She explained, âItâs my first day at work, and Iâd like to treat the department to a dinner. You donât need to pay for the bill.â
He insisted on paying using his credit card before explaining, âPlease, donât overthink it. Itâs not for you. Joanna is upset with me because of my past issues with you. Iâm just trying to make amends.â
