Chapter 109
âWin, have you reached home?â Joannaâs voice was soft and gentle.
Winston glanced toward the door and replied softly, âIâm home.â
âCould you please give me a ride to work tomorrow morning?â Joanna asked a little coquettishly with
a hint of a smile.
Winston took a sip of water. âIâll pick you up after work.â
He had to go to the cell the following morning.
âNo, please take me to work and pick me up when I finish. We can have dinner together, alright?â
Joannaâs voice softened.
Winston lost his patience. âJoanna, donât force me to do something I donât want.â
There was a momentary silence on the other end of the phone, followed by her question. âThen what would you like to do?â
Winston massaged his forehead, feeling irritated. âIâll pick you up after work. Iâm hanging up now.â
After that, he ended the call.
At that moment, a black RollsâRoyce was parked outside the private kitchen. Inside the car, Joanna gripped her phone tightly, only to hear the beep, signaling the call was disconnected.
She couldnât believe that Winston lied to her. He clearly took Millie to dinner and pretended to be at
home.
Joanna bit her lower lip, her eyes brimming with hatred. Millie was on the verge of divorcing Winston, but she was still holding onto him. It ignited an intense desire within Joanna to retaliate against Millie.
âMs. Lowell, should we leave now?â Jeremy asked in a hushed tone.
Joanna clenched her fists, her heart pounding. âNo!â
She wanted to see how long Winston would continue to reminisce with Millie.
âMs. Lowell, itâs Millie!â Jeremy pointed toward the person coming out of the private kitchen.
Joanna looked toward the private kitchen. She took out her phone and planned to take a photo of Winston seeing Millie off. Unexpectedly, Millie hailed a cab and left by herself.
âShe left,â said Jeremy.
Joanna felt confused about why, she left by herself. âFollow her,â she shouted.
In the cab, Millie rubbed her forehead and leaned against the window, gazing at the view outside. As she exited the bathroom, she overheard the waiter discussing, âDo you think Ms. Lowell and Mr. Greer are better suited, or is Ms. Caldwell the better match?
âOf course itâs Ms. Lowell. Ms. Lowell and Mr. Greer make a perfect match!â

âBesides, it seems clear that Mr. Greer doesnât love Ms. Caldwell. Theyâve been married for many years, yet this is the first time he has brought her to eat here.â
Millie wanted to ignore their discussion and return to the private room. However, when she was standing outside the room, she heard Winston say, âIâm home.â
It was disgusting to lie to his unforgettable first love while eating with his wife. Millie instantly lost her appetite and opted to take a cab home.
She opened her Messenger chatroom with Winston on her phone. She had kept his contact name as â Winâ for seven years.
She tried to add him to Messenger when it first launched, but he rejected her request repeatedly. He complained that she talked too much and sent too many messages.
His words made her angry, and she insisted that he add her, promising not to bother him. Reluctantly, he added her as a friend.
After much consideration, Millie decided to send him a message.
âMr. Greer, thank you for the dinner. Unfortunately, Iâm not feeling well, so Iâll be leaving now. Given the unique nature of our relationship, Iâve carefully considered this. We should maintain distance if it doesnât pertain to the divorce. Thereâs no need to reply.â
After saying that, Millie clicked on his profile. She then blocked the account that she used to want to add the most.
Since they had broken up, they should sever their ties completely. They had already decided to get a divorce anyway, so there was no point in clinging to it anymore.
Winston had no feelings for her. He wouldnât be sad about losing her. But she was different. She would be in immense pain from losing Winston.
Winston was waiting for Millie to return. Instead, he received a message from her. He was confused.
When he tried to respond to it, it didnât go through. Then, a notification appeared, informing him that he was no longer her friend.
