Chapter 123
The man adjusted his glasses, looked up, and saw Millie.
Millie was stunningly attractive; wherever she went, heads turned. Her charisma would light up any room she entered.
âMillie, what are you doing here?â James Davis hurriedly rose, pulled out a chair, and motioned for her to sit.
Millie obediently answered, âMr. Davis, I was having dinner with a friend and happened to run into Paisley,â
James laughed heartily upon hearing that. âWell, Isnât this a fortunate coincidence?â
âMr. Davis, have you been busy lately? How are you feeling?â
James patted his arm and declared, âEver since you gave me that acupuncture treatment, Iâve been feeling fantastic!â
âRemember to exercise more, Mr. Davis,â Millie reminded him.
James immediately nodded in agreement. He then pulled her toward a seat, saying, âI got it. Now, sit down and have something with us!â
âNo, thank you. I just came over to say hello,â Millie declined with an apologetic smile.
But James insisted, âIf you donât take a seat, youâll hurt my feelings.â
Millie felt helpless. Just as she was about to explain that her grandfather was waiting for her at the hospital, she spotted the document James had left on the table.
It was a
development plan for the Northridge Street site near the airport.
Millie couldnât help but point at it and asked James, âMr. Davis, do you own the land near the airport?â
âYes,â he answered with a smile. âThis land has become quite the hot commodity! Several people are competing for it, and itâs keeping me incredibly busy!â
He shook his head as he spoke, showing his exhaustion.
At that point, Millie decided to sit down. âWell, I have a friend whoâs been eyeing this land lately,â she said with a wink. She wanted to put in a good word for Simon.
âYour friend?â James asked.
âYes. Heâs Simon Harrison from Harrison Corporation. Mr. Davis, please consider him. Harrison Corporation is wellâestablished in Yerwick,â Millie stated decisively.
A flicker of surprise crossed Jamesâ face. Paisley was also momentarily stunned. They were trying to process the fact that Millie was speaking up for Simon.
Didnât she know Simon was competing against her husband, Winston?
At that moment, someone pushed open the private restroom door. Millie raised her head and saw a
man stepping out.

The manâs deep, dark eyes bore an intense stare At the same time, #hint of displeasure clouded his face. He appeared somewhat angry.
Millie was taken aback. How could it be Winston, of all people?
âMr. Davis, you and Winâ¦â Millie stammered.
In the next second, Winston took a seat next to her. He casually crossed his legs and shot a chilling glare at Millie.
âWhat a coincidence, darling,â he said coldly.
Millie was rendered speechless by being called âdarlingâ.
âItâs truly a coincidence,â she replied with an awkward smile.
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the private room grew tense. Both James and Paisley remained silent, assessing the situation before speaking.
Winston poured himself a drink. Then, he took a sip before looking at Millie and commented casually,â Mrs. Greer, you seem quite interested in another manâs work matters, donât you think?â
âIâm just helping as much as I can,â Millie replied indifferently.
Her response elicited a chuckle from Winston. His voice was deep and inexplicably captivating.
Millie looked at his face. Suddenly, she felt somewhat uneasy. Winston was acting strangely, and his. odd havior stemmed from his fury.
He glanced up to meet Millieâs beautiful yet slightly flustered eyes. He parted his lips and asked with a hint of amusement, âWell then, Mrs. Greer, do you know who his competitor is?â
Millie hesitated. How could she possibly know? But as she looked into Winstonâs eyes, a bizarre thought suddenly crossed her mind.
Could Winston be the one Simon was competing against?
Winston smirked as he observed Millieâs eyes widen in shock and then remarked, âYouâre truly clever, Mrs, Greer.â
