Chapter 162
Millie found it hard to believe that some people were kept in the dark about her marriage. She shuddered to imagine how Winston had been introducing himself to others. Did he describe himself as a bachelor?
âMr. Anderson, do you think my husbandâs support is enough if I were to join the entertainment industry?â she taunted Gideon.
He smiled stiffly. Of course, Winston could afford to back her up. There was only one problemâ¦
He prodded cautiously, âIsnât his wife Joanna Lowell?â
Millieâs heart dropped, and the smile vanished from her face. Arching an eyebrow, she downed the alcohol in her glass and replied flatly, âMr. Anderson, I suggest you read actual news instead of tabloid gossip.â
Gideon shot her a scrutinizing look before leaving in shame.
When Thomas came over to check on Millie, she was drinking alone.
âWhat are you doing? Trying to get yourself drunk?â He snatched away a glass of alcohol, which she was about to drink.
Sighing, she snatched it back. âLeave me alone.â
âSomeoneâs throwing tantrums again,â he grumbled.
Millie frowned and felt anger rising in her. âWhy? Am I not allowed to throw tantrums? I, too, am a human with emotions!â
Thomas was taken aback by her outburst. What exactly did Gideon say to her that pissed her off?
âI donât feel so good. I need to leave now.â She grabbed her bag and proceeded to leave.
Thomas tried to follow her, but she turned and warned him, âDonât follow me. Iâm not a threeâyearâold.â
Feeling exasperated, Thomas had no choice but to stay put.
Millie pushed open the door of the room. Gideonâs remark echoed in her mind, ruining her mood.

âIsnât his wife Joanna Lowell?â
She trudged down the corridor. It wasnât long before she passed by another room and overheard the laughter from within.
Someone said, âOf course! Itâs everyoneâs dream to work with Mr. Greer! I will have no regrets if I get the opportunity to partner with the Greer Group.â
The mention of Winston made Millie roll her eyes. Walking to the restroom, she wouldnât stop complaining, âWhatâs so good about the Greer Group? No regrets in life? Seriously?â
She continued through gritted teeth, âUgh, that 50âyearâold is greasy as fuck! Heâs into young ladies, too. How disgusting! Iâll teach him a lesson for taking advantage of me!â
As her cursing intensified, fueled by the effect of alcohol, she heard a man tutting behind her. He remarked sarcastically, âHow odd is it to find you scolding me when I havenât wronged you.â
Caught by surprise, she looked up and noticed Winston leaning against the wall. He examined her with a hand in his pocket with an air of indifference. âWhat a
coincidence, Ms. Caldwell. We meet again.â
While speaking, he wandered over and joined her to wash hands at the sink.
Millie gaped at him in confusion. Werenât they in the ladies restroom?
He washed his hands and grabbed a napkin to dry them. Next, he warned her icily,â This is the gents. Ms. Caldwell, did you purposely curse me out loudly, knowing Iâm here?â
Raising an eyebrow, he bent over slightly. âI thought you said yesterday that you wanted us to stay out of each otherâs lives.â
Winston had just left the menâs restroom when he spotted Millie in it, a scene that made him overthink.
She choked. Never had she expected to run into Win
