Chapter 182
Thomas was still upset and cursed, âA bitch must have scratched it. He is no shameless!â
Millie nodded and reprimanded, âExactly. He is utterly shameless!â
âItâs alright, Millie. Good men are everywhere! Once you divorce am, Iâll help you find someone better,â Thomas assured, patting her shoulder.
Millie nodded eagerly. âThank you, Uncle Thomasâ
Little did she know that Winston, who was on his way to the hospital, suddenly sneezed. Hel sniffed and wiped his nose.
Beside him, Eli asked with concern, âMr. Greer, have you caught a cold? Iâll get you some flu medicineâ
âNoâ¦â Winston sneezed again before he could finish speaking. He waved his hand, signaling to Eli that it wasnât necessary.
Eli cleared his throat, unable to resist glancing once more at the scratch on Winstonâs neck.
The unmistakable marks made it clear that he had been accidentally scratched during an intimate encounter. It must have been Millie who had done it when they were entangled last night.
Despite their pending divorce, the circumstances seemed to draw them closer together. In a sense, their relationship was beginning to develop.
âMr. Greer, what are your plans for Ms. Lowell?â Eli asked softly, unable to contain his curiosity.
Winston sighed. âOne step at a time.â
âItâs not good to drag along both parties, Mr. Greer.â
Winstonâs gaze was fixed on Eli. His expression was indifferent, yet he emanated indescribable air of intensity. Even Eli grasped the truth, so how could he not?

âGrandma is pressuring me not to divorce Millie, and the Greer family is pressuring me not to accept Joanna. What other options do I have but to try and balance the relationship between the two parties?â Winstonâs voice was hushed, weighed down by an unexplainable burden.
âMr. Greer, butâ¦â Ell hesitated, unsure if he should voice what he wanted to say.
Winston frowned, indicating to Eli that he should speak if he had something to say.
âYou mentioned balancing the relationship between both parties, but it appears that Madam Millie is the one suffering more,â Ell said as he lowered his head, fearing he might be scolded.

Winston gazed at Eli. Instead of getting scolded, he saw Winston stepping out of the elevator, appearing lonely. Eli let out a sigh and proceeded to follow him quietly.
Winstonâs heart was filled with waves of emotions upon hearing Eliâs words. He pushed open the door of the ward and strode inside.
As soon as the person in the bed saw Winston, she lit up with a bright smile. âWin.â
âHow are you feeling today?â Winston walked over to the bed and reached out his hand to Eli. Immediately, Eli handed Winston the fruit basket he had bought.
Winston retrieved an orange and looked at Joanna, who smiled at him without speaking. He asked, âIs looking at me enough to put you in a daze?â
Joanna giggled and replied obediently, âAs long as Iâm with you, I donât feel any pain.â
âWhere does it hurt?â Winston asked.
Joanna pouted and gestured toward her back. âIt hurts right hereâ¦â
Winston knew she was referring to the scar. The cold weather, wind, and rain would intensify her discomfort.
âAndâ¦â She placed Winstonâs hand on her heart.
Winston frowned and quickly pulled back his hand the moment he touched Joanna.
Joanna couldnât help but feel disheartened by his reaction.
She acknowledged that men often demonstrate their affection straightforwardly. To her, if he
was not physically intimate with her, it signaled that he didnât love her.
Her eyes inn
