Chapter 236
Winston was at a loss for words. Selma sneered and chided, âLooks like youâve lost your mind!â
He frowned, clearly angered. âGrandma, could you please not meddle in our affairs?â
âI must get involved when it concerns the reputation of the Greer family!â Selma stated firmly.
With that, the two were at an impasse on stage.
Unfortunately for Winston, the person standing before him was Selma, and this only annoyed him to no
end.
Selma looked at the reporters and solemnly announced, âI want to thank everyone for their interest in my grandson, Winston Greer, and my granddaughterâinâlaw, Millie Caldwell. Let me make it clear, Winston and Millie are not divorced,â
Selma figured she would deal with the rest when the time came. However.
âAs for Winston and Ms. Joanna Lowell, I want to clarify their relationship as well. Winston treats Joanna like a younger sister. There are no romantic feelings involved.â
As she spoke, her gaze swept over the dejected Joanna in the audience..
Joanna bit her lip, her hands clenched into fists. Concern like a brother for a sister? What was Selma implying?
Selma added, âMs. Lowell, since youâre so keen on being Winâs sister, perhaps our family should adopt you as our granddaughter.â
She made the statement to crush Joannaâs hopes of marrying into the Greer family. The crowd ted in shocked whispers as soon as those words escaped her lips.
Winstonâs expression darkened further. âGrandma!â he called out.
Selma glared at him and snapped, âWhy are you shouting? Come home with me!â
Joannaâs chest heaved with anger upon hearing that. Adopted granddaughter? Didnât that mean she could never be with Winston?
âMrs. Greer Senior, are you saying that Ms. Caldwell and Mr. Greer are still together?â a reporter asked, catching up to them.
Selma coldly replied, âI donât get involved in their affairs, so I canât say for sure. But thereâs one thing-
She looked toward the numerous reporters, while everyone eagerly awaited what she would say next.
However, Winston grabbed a reporterâs microphone, cutting off whatever Selma had to say.
âThatâs all for todayâs press conference. I hope the media can be considerate and refrain from blowing the Snowdrop incident out of proportion.â
Having said that, Winston glanced at Selma before leading her toward the exit.
âSlow down, you rascal!â Selma scolded him.
But Winston dared not lag behind even for a moment. If he did, Selma would start spouting nonsense to

the media.
âNow youâre afraid of me, huh? If this is the case, you must stay away from Joanna in the future!â Selma yelled.
With a darkened expression, Winston stepped out of the hotel and got into the car.
Once they were inside the vehicle, the air grew heavy with tension. Winston leaned back in his seat while massaging his temples. He could feel a headache coming.
âGrandma, your sudden appearance will embarrass both the Greers and the Lowells,â he remarked in a hoarse voice, his spirits low.
Selmaâs expression turned grave. âYou havenât finalized your divorce with Millie, yet you held a press conference and brought Joanna along. What are you doing?
âWinston, even if youâre disregarding Millieâs feelings, shouldnât you at least spare a thought for the Caldwells?â
She finally highlighted the heart of the matter. He was worried about embarrassing the Greers and the Lowells, but did he not care about the potential backlash against the Caldwells?
Winston was taken aback. It seemed that he had indeed forgotten about the Caldwells.
âRegarding the Snowdrop incident, Iâll have someone put it to rest. But Winston, youâre not allowed to contact Joanna anymore!â
At this point, Selma believed she needed to take firm action. When Winston looked at her, she had already opened the door and stepped out of the car.
Selma then turned back to warn him, âIf you insist on getting involved with Joanna, donât blame me if you never see her again!â
âGrandma!â Winston shouted while balling his hands into fists.
âYou know very well what Iâm capable of,â Selma replied seriously. She had no choice but to lay out her trump card.
Winstonâs face fell at her threats.
