Chapter 254
Millie hummed in response as she gathered her hair up and secured it with her sunglasses. Her exquisitely beautiful face was simply too striking.
Just as she was about to order the dishes, a thought suddenly crossed her mind. She asked Winston, âAre you paying for this meal, exâhusband?â
With one hand pressed to his forehead, Winston answered, âYes.â
So, Millie didnât hesitate to order every signature dish on the menu.
âChoose something,â she uttered while sliding the menu toward Winston,
Winston was looking at his phone and replied indifferently, âDidnât you say you were going to order from the kidsâ menu for me?â
âI was joking,â Millie answered with a grin.
Winston glanced at her. âIâm fine with anything.â
With that, Millie selected a few nonâspicy dishes for him and placed the order. Throughout the wait for their food, Winston remained engrossed in his phone.
Sitting across from him, Millie kept her eyes fixed on him. Perhaps her gaze was so intense that it caused Winston to lift his head, his eyes showing a hint of confusion.
Millie picked up her cup and took a sip of coffee. She felt that this day hadnât been as sorrowful as she had expected.
She had once thought that she would be devastated if she divorced Winston. But now, that wasnât the
case.
In contrast, Millie felt relieved. She even found that not being a couple made their interactions more relaxed.
âAre you sad that weâre divorced?â Millie couldnât stop herself from asking.
Winston stared at her, then pressed his lips together. âNo.â
Millie fell silent. A moment later, she broke into a smile. She had expected his answer. But for some reason, hearing him say it out loud fell oddly heartless.
âI donât seem to be as upset as I imagined too,â Millie said seriously as she looked into Winstonâs eyes.
Winston lowered his gaze and gripped his cup tightly. âItâs because youâve long fallen out of love with me, Ms. Caldwell.â
âIndeed, the best way to move on from someone is to fall in love with another person,â Millie responded, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Upon hearing what she said, Winston felt inexplicably irritated.
âWinston, I used to be so foolish,â Millie remarked. She propped her chin with both hands, stared intently at Winston, and added, âI thought Iâd die if left you.â
Yet, he merely scoffed in response.

âNow it seems that leaving a man only makes me more carefree,â Millie declared earnestly.
Right then, the private room door swung open, and the waiter began serving their dishes.
âMs. Caldwell, youâve always been carefree and never let yourself be disadvantaged,â Winston replied indifferently.
Millie took another sip of her coffee and said sarcastically, âBeing married to you has been a huge loss for
me.â
Winston didnât utter a single word. He stared at the dishes covered with red chili peppers, feeling his stomach churn with discomfort. Were these even edible?
âTo tell you the truth, I like spicy food,â Millie murmured.
Winston took a sip of water. âIâm not so sure about that.â After all, Millie always cooked nonâspicy dishes.
She immediately countered, âThatâs because you have a sensitive stomach, so I always make healthy dishes.â,
Winston paused, feeling a hint of unease.
âAlso, I really love having fun. I enjoy the outdoors and seeing the world.â Millie raised her eyebrows. âIncluding clubbing, dancing, and flirting with men? Winston followed up on her comment.
Millie nodded solemnly. âYes, including all that.â
She was genuinely serious about Winston. That was why she was willing to give up everything she loved for him.
âMost importantlyâ¦â Millie cast a sideway glance at Winston, who waited for her to continue.
She considered that matter and felt somewhat sad. Gazing into Winstonâs eyes, her tone softened.
âI really do love swimming,â she said softly.
But to save Winston, Millie could no longer swim. She hoped that one day, she could overcome her fear.
âWhy did you stop swimming?â Winston asked calmly.
Millie looked at him, her grip tightening around her cutlery. âDonât you know?â
âShould I know?â Winston countered.
