Chapter 28
âJoanna, arenât you going overboard?â Simon asked immediately.
âThatâs the point. It wouldnât be a challenge if it werenât daring, would it?â Joanna wiggled her wrist and flashed a smile at Simon, trying to appear innocent.
Simon frowned at her. He clenched his right hand into a fist. He hadnât interacted much with Joanna before, and now he was beginning to see how unreasonable she could be.
âFine,â Millie said as she stepped forward to stand next to Joanna.
âYou donât have to accept her challenge, Mills,â Simon reminded
hér.
Millie was never one to back down from a challenge. She meant it when she said she would do something. She raised an eyebrow and replied, âItâs just a kiss. Whatâs there to be afraid of? Itâs not like I havenât kissed someone before.â
Winstonâs expression turned colder as he narrowed his eyes. He wondered about the meaning behind her words. He called out, â
Millie.â
Millie looked at him with a serene expression.
âAre you sure? Do you really want to compete with Jo?â Winston asked sternly, his voice growing deeper.
âMr. Greer, are you worried that I might lose and end up kissing someone else?â Millie teased as she looked directly at Winston.
Winston snorted. His expression turned serious as he replied in a sarcastic tone, âWho you kiss is none of my business. Iâm just worried that youâll lose terribly!â
At first, Joanna was startled to hear Winston call out to Millie. She
kept her eyes on him but was relieved to learn that he didnât care about Millie at all. She smirked and her eyes began to glow with
smugness.
Millie and Joanna exchanged a look before quickly going into competitive mode. Millie felt an unusual calm in her heart as she focused on the hole in the distance.
Even though Simon was a calm and mature man, he couldnât help but feel a tad anxious in this situation. He snapped, âM Greer, Millieâs your wife. Itâs hurtful the way you and your new flame are ganging up on her like this.â
âIsnât she the one youâre seeing now?â Winston turned to Simon.
With a smile, Simon replied, âWinston, Millie canât play golf. Sheâll definitely lose! Arenât you bothered by her kissing another guy?â
Even if it was true that Winston had no feelings for Millie, the divorce proceedings were still in progress. Simon couldnât believe that Winston would be fine with his wife kissing another man.
Winstonâs expression remained unreadable.
âOr maybe you and Ms. Lowell have alreadyâ¦â Simon stared at Winston, his words fading.
âMr. Harrison, Iâll give you some leeway out of respect for your father. But please, mind your manners!â Winston sounded annoyed.
Simon frowned and decided not to argue anymore.
Winston looked ahead with a somber expression. Millie took two shots but missed both.
Meanwhile, Joanna was doing great. She made three out of five shots. She looked at Millie every time she took a shot to keep Millie under pressure.
Although Millie seemed calm, she was starting to sweat 1:

her forehead. She still couldnât get the ball into the hole on her third attempt.
Winston felt an unexplained sense of unease in his chest. Simonâs words kept replaying in his thoughts. He quietly criticized Millie for being a person who had always put up a brave front since high school. She competed with Joanna even though she couldnât play golf.
âMills, why not give up?â Joanna whispered.
Instead of replying, Millie took her fourth shot.
