Chapter 292
Millie thought, âWell, thatâs me again.â
âWho are her colleagues in the hospital?â
She and Joanna were the only two female doctors in the Cardiac Surgery department. Naturally, she would be the only plausible suspect.
She suggested, âDr. Lloyd, I donât think you should do the detective work.â If Sebastian kept going, he might eventually find her guilty.
She ran into an issue, as every single clue pointed toward her. Resting her cheek on her palm, she sighed deeply. âI canât even sleep well over the weekends.â
âDo you want to take a few days off?â Sebastian cautiously inquired.
Taken aback, she would never do that, as she might only appear guilty. Not only that, she wanted to show up confidently in front of everyone.
âDid you not write the anonymous letter?â Even Sebastian started to doubt her innocence.
Feeling troubled, she flashed him a smile. âIâll check out the control room.â
Right then, they heard a knock on the door. The staff in charge of the investigation entered.
âIs that the security footage?â Sebastian put on his glasses and saw a sliver of hope.
When he settled in front of his computer, the staff informed him, âDr. Lloyd, according to the footage, no one entered your office this morning.â
âWhat are you talking about? Are you saying that the letter appeared out of thin air?â Sebastian looked irritated.
Millie watched him in silence from the couch. For the first time, she realized Sebastian was rather simple- minded and friendly. Before this, she always perceived hospital directors as aloof and haughty.
Her grandma, Layla, was a good example. Layla Cadmore was known in the field as a strict, merciless, and fearsome character.
*Did anyone swing by my office in the past few days?â Sebastian inquired.
The staff mused, âUm⦠I think you know the answer best.â On average, Sebastian only had a handful of daily visitors.
He widened his eyes. âHey, Iâm the hospital director here!â
Millie left his office soon after, as she couldnât be bothered with their exchange.
Standing in the corridor, she scanned the surroundings. The security camera faced the office door and would certainly capture anyone who sneaked in.
Since the footage didnât capture the culprit sneaking into the office alone, she assumed that someone else had dropped off the letter while visiting Sebastian
She arrived at the control room and looked through two daysâ worth of footage. Sebastian didnât have many visitors. His office was a lonely place. Only the hospital shareholders or department heads would

visit him.
Wait a minuteâ¦.
Millie thought she saw Lainey. She zoomed in and spotted Lainey visiting Sebastianâs office at 5:00 pm yesterday.
She hurriedly texted Lainey, âDr. Quinn, where are you now?â
Lainey replied, âAt the operating room. Just got out.â
Millie wrote, âLetâs meet up and talk,â Then, she recorded the footage on her phone before meeting with Lainey at the entrance of the operating room.
âWhy are you in a hurry?â Lainey, who had just performed a surgery, didnât hear about the latest scandal that broke in the hospital.
Millie updated Lainey on the events. Lainey looked surprised. âFake qualifications?â
âYeah. Dr. Quinn, look. Did you enter Dr. Lloydâs office?â Millie showed the recording to Lainey,
Lainey admitted with a nod, âI did. I was there to report the details of the seminar to Dr. Lloyd.
âDid youâ¦â
âAre you suspecting me of writing the anonymous letter? But I had no idea about Joannaâs fake qualifications!â Lainey frowned.
Millie quickly shook her head and crossed Lainey off the suspect list because the handwriting in the letter didnât match Laineyâs.
âDid you run into anyone suspicious when you were at his office? Did someone request you to bring something to Sebastian?â Millie interrogated Lainey in detail.
