For a moment, Winston looked as though he was about to explain.
Outside, Simon asked, âMills, have you found your phone?â
Winston felt a finger hook on his. He looked down to see Joanna staring at him, confusion in her eyes.
What was he doing? Why did he let her go upon seeing Millie walk in?
âIâve found it. Letâs go,â Millie said and followed him out.
Joanna could tell that Winstonâs mind was somewhere else. She couldnât be bothered to play golf anymore.
âLetâs go.â Joanna got up and walked out, dissatisfaction written across her face.
Winston noticed her foul mood and followed her. Jo,â he called her name softly.
Joanna pushed him away angrily, frustration visible in her eyes. Their perfect alone time was entirely destroyed.
Ever since he met Millie, his eyes would always fall on her. The second Millie walked in, he let her
Actions that happened unintentionally were usually reflections of oneâs subconscious.
Although Joanna loved Winston and was willing to make allowances for him, she still had feelings
that she couldnât ignore.
Seeing that Joanna was ignoring him, Winston said calmly, âIâll ask the driver to take you home.â
Joanna stopped walking. She looked at Winston questioningly, âWhat are you going to do after sending me home? Look for your exâwife?â
She was angry!
Did he not want to appease her at all?
He even asked the driver to send her home! How did he even come up with that idea?
Winston frowned and roared, âJoanna!â
âWinston, do you even love me?â Joannaâs eyes reddened within seconds. Tears cascaded down her
cheeks.
The people around them looked over curiously. Upon recognizing Joanna and Winston, they began whispering among themselves.
Winston felt nothing but exhaustion.
âStop making a fuss. Iâll take you home.â He took Joannaâs hand.
She shook out of his grasp immediately and looked at him in disappointment. As she left, she called her brother, âIâm at the golf course. Come get me now!â

Winston stood frozen in place.
The afternoon sunlight was glaring. However, clouds seemed to float above his head. It made him look melancholic.â
As she walked away, Joanna couldnât help but slow down. She could never find it in herself to be cruel to Winston.
She was subtly giving him a chance, hoping he would chase after her. If Winston apologized to her sweetly, she wouldnât stay angry at him.
Joanna bit her lip and counted down from three. When she got to two, she felt him grab her arm. Immediately, she was enveloped in a warm embrace.
The manâs gentle voice rang out in her ears. âJo, I was wrong. Iâll always choose you when it comes to â you and Millie.â
Joanna couldnât help but cry. She sniffled, âI thought you didnât love me anymore.â
Winstonâs heart softened. He explained gently, âIâm just a little tired. How could I possibly not be in love with you? Letâs get you home.â He ruffled Joannaâs hair.
She walked away with him, still aggrieved. For whatever reason, she kept seeing Millie in Winston.
After sending her home, Winston invited Jake to go out drinking.
The bar was decked out in dim lights. It made his intimidating features look even icier.
Jake was holding a girl in his arms. They were flirting like there was no tomorrow.
Looking at them annoyed Winston. âFuck off,â he said to Jake.
Jake chuckled and pushed the girl away to sit beside Winston, taking a sip of his wine. His black shirt was unbuttoned, showing off his firm, fair abs.
âHave you seen the news?â he asked.
Winston was rattled as he drank his wine. He asked, âWhat news?â
