Chapter 317
It was almost 11:00 am when they finished all the tests.
After requesting a day off from Lainey, Millie drove Selma home. She was surprised to learn that Selma
had taken the bus alone.
Regardless, Millie still reminded Selma, âDonât go out alone in the future. Itâs very dangerous, especially when you donât have anyone with you.â
After all, the Greers were a prominent family, and Selma held significant influence in society. If someone with ill intentions were to target her, they could easily threaten the entire Greer family.
âIndeed, I used to have you by my side. But now, youâre no longer here,â Selma said. She looked extremely aggrieved in the back seat. At the same time, her hands tapped away on her phone.
Millie glanced back and uttered helplessly, âGrandma, you have a butler.â
âWhat good is a butler? At the end of the day, heâs just a butler. Heâs not my granddaughterâinâlaw, and certainly not my granddaughter. Hmph!â Selma put her phone away and crossed her arms, her anger
evident.
Millie remained silent for a moment before saying, âGrandma, please donât go out alone anymore, okay?â
Selma gazed at her. When Millie stopped at the red light, she looked back and asked, âOkay?â
Yet, Selma didnât respond. This meant that she would still venture out on her own.
Left with no choice, Millie threatened, âGrandma, if you donât listen to me, I wonât talk to you anymore./
âAlright, I get it. I wonât go out alone anymore,â Selma responded with a resigned tone.
Millie nodded and smiled, âGood.â
Soon, they arrived at the Greer residence, where Selma lived with Gloria and Brian.
The Greer residence was grand, with a long driveway leading up to the main entrance. As soon as Millieâs car pulled up, the butler, Benjamin Garrett, rushed out.
âMadam Millie, youâre back!â he greeted her with a smile.
At that moment, Millie was opening the car door for Selma. She nodded in acknowledgment and said, Long time no see, Mr. Garrett.â
Benjamin nodded lightly and followed them into the house.
Then, Millie reminded him, âGrandmaâs health isnât great, so please donât let her venture out alone from
now on.
Benjamin spread his hands helplessly and exhaled quietly. Despite his best efforts, Selma simply wouldnât
listen to them.
âDonât blame him,â Selma said as she went to pour herself a glass of water.
Millie sighed. âOkay.â
âDid you buy all the groceries I asked for?â Selma asked Benjamin.
Benjamin immediately nodded. âYes, Mrs. Greer Senior, Iâve gotten everything.â

âGood. Iâll be having lunch with Mills, so all of you can rest for now,â Selma instructed, waving them off.
Millie walked into the living room. The villaâs interior was opulent, surrounded by lush greenery. Through the large floorâtoâceiling windows, she admired the picturesque landscape outside, where birds chirped, and flowers bloomed.
âGrandma, what would you like to eat? Iâll make something for you.â
Millie headed to the kitchen as she spoke. After washing her hands, she started rummaging through the refrigerator.
Selma followed behind her. Millie was still thoroughly familiar with the house. When Millie turned back to look at her, Selma was leaning against the doorway.
âMills, I truly donât want to see you leave,â she remarked sorrowfully.
Millie chuckled. âGrandma, not again. Well, since you donât know what you want to eat, Iâll just prepare a few simple dishes.â
After saying that, she started taking out the ingredients that Benjamin had just bought. They were still very fresh.
âYou must have seen the news this moming.â Selma sighed and added, âItâs so frustrating!â
However, Millie didnât respond and continued to prepare the meal.
Noticing her silence, Selma felt a lump in her throat. It was as if her words were stuck inside.
Millie, who often cooked, worked swiftly. In under half an hour, she had prepared four dishes. Throughout the process, she had to gently shoo Selma away whenever she tried to help.
Finally, she placed the last dish on the table.
