Upon seeing him again, she would greet him with a smile and call him affectionately.
âWin,â she would say.
When he thought about it, his heart stuttered, as though a million ants were marching across it. It made him restless.
Jake rubbed his chin and joked, âI wonder whether Ms. Caldwell and Simon will invite me to their engagement party.â
âI didnât even get to go to your wedding when you guys were married! Millie is so pitiful. Not only did you not acknowledge her as your wife, you didnât even hold a banquet in celebration.â

took his coat and walked out.
Jake only reacted after a moment. âWin, where are you going?â he shouted.
Winston didnât reply to his question.
When Winston left the bar, Eli was dealing with the news of Millie online.
Eli looked back and asked Winston, âMr. Greer, how should I handle the news of Ms. Caldwell and Mr.
Harrison?â
Winston pulled at his tie. When he heard Eliâs question, he looked up.
The lights in the car werenât bright enough. The smell of alcohol radiated off him, and his eyelashes cast shadows on his cheeks.

Winston chuckled and said, âEli, Millie and I havenât gotten a divorce. Youâve changed the way you address her already?â
He used to call her Mrs. Greer all the time. Now, he called her Ms. Caldwell?
Noticing Winstonâs displeasure, Eli explained, âMr Greer, Ms. Lowell was the one who asked me to call her that.â
At the mention of Joanna, Winstonâs heart sank.
The car fell silent.
Eli looked at his boss carefully. He didnât dare to say a word and even tried to breathe slowly.
Winston leaned back in his seat. His Adamâs apple bobbed, and the silence continued.

Winston looked at Eli and suddenly asked, âWere you the one who sent news to Grandma, which made her go to the villa Unexpectedly?â
Eli froze. He opened his mouth to say something.
Winston raised an eyebrow and hummed inquisitively.
Eliâs silence was his answer.
Winstonâs breath paused in his throat. He tightened his fists and shouted, âEli!â
He had wrongfully blamed Millie for telling Selma on him.
âMr. Greer, sheâs your grandmother! She asked me about your plans, and Iâ¦â
Winston felt his stomach turn. He felt horrible.
He suddenly remembered how Eli had brought him to the villa drunk out of his mind after a business
dinner.
Millie fluttered around, taking care of him. She made him pasta, and he felt much better after getting some food in his stomach.
âMr. Greer, itâs my mistake. There wonât be a next time. I accept any punishment you choose to give
