Chapter 355
Once Millie was done with everything, she returned to the hospital. When she reached the ward, she saw Julia sitting on the couch with a serious expression, waiting for her.
Millie instantly put her hands behind her and greeted Julia with a smile, âHi, Mom.â
âGood to know you still remember that Iâm your mother,â Julia said sarcastically before scolding Millie. âWhere did you go so early in the morning? Have you fully recovered? Have you forgotten that you have multiple checkups today?â
She was furious and angrily threw Millieâs note on the ground. âMillie, youâre an adult now. Canât you make me worry less about you?â
Millie felt embarrassed as she admitted her mistake. She regretted leaving a note and disappearing. âIâm sorry, Mom,â she whispered.
Julia huffed and ignored her.
Millie promptly sat beside her and said gently, âMom, Iâm really sorry. I wonât do this again. Iâll listen to you. I wonât leave again.â
She reassured Julia, saying, âIâll get a checkâup and only leave the hospital when Iâm fully okay, alright?â
Julia gazed at Millie. As a mother, she understood her very well. Millie wasnât the type to easily listen to her. Julia sighed, finding it difficult to be angry with her daughter, and tapped Millieâs forehead.
Millie shut her eyes, then opened them, letting out a chuckle.
Julia exclaimed unhappily, âIâve bought you breakfast, now hurry up and eat it. Your grandparents are going to visit you later, so donât leave again.â
âOkay,â Millie agreed. She wouldnât leave the hospital again.
Julia left after Millie finished her meal.
Millie was waiting for her checkâup and felt bored, so she went for a walk in the hospital corridor. She was wearing a hospital gown that was a bit big for her and a pair of shorts. Her black hair cascaded down her back, and her face was small and lovely.
People walking past her couldnât help but take a second look at her, and they praised her with a smile, âSheâs so pretty.â
Not many people could wear a hospital gown and still manage to look beautiful.
As Millie walked past Winstonâs ward, she noticed that it was completely empty.
Several nurses came out, muttering, âMr. Greer is so busy. Despite being unwell, heâs

still working.â
âHeâs truly responsible. Achieving such success is no easy feat.â
âHas he been discharged from the hospital?â Millie asked them suddenly.
The nurse quickly turned to Millie and greeted her, âMs. Caldwell.â
Millie stood still, awaiting their response.
âYes. Mr. Greer mentioned he needed to leave for a business trip, so he was discharged from the hospital and left early in the morning.â
Millie was surprised that Winston went on a business trip despite his arm injury. Even though she didnât want him involved in her affairs, she was still grateful to him.
She truly thanked him for not giving up on her in that difficult situation. However, it didnât move her.
After that, she continued walking until she met Eli.
He greeted her warmly. âMs. Caldwell.â
Millie nodded at him in return. âHasnât Winston been discharged from the hospital? Why are you here?â
âOh, I came here to visit a friend. Mr. Greer mentioned he left something in the ward, so I also came to retrieve it.â
Millie acknowledged and asked, âIs Winston on a business trip now?â
âYes, thatâs right. He went abroad,â he replied.
She frowned. âBut his injuryâ¦â
Eli could sense that Millie was worried about Winston and promptly reassured her.â Donât worry, Mr. Greer said that heâs perfectly fine. Moreover, the overseas project is indeed an urgent one.â
Millie didnât ask further. After expressing concern for her wellâbeing, Eli was ready to leave. Suddenly, he recalled something and turned back to ask, âMs. Caldwell, do you know a man named Sonny Alpers?â
Millie stopped and gazed at Eli, thinking about the name that had been mentioned. âNo. Whatâs the matter?â she asked, surprised.
