Chapter 374
âOf course. Iâll call you back after I land.â Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed in Millieâs ear. Her eyes flickered open, and she spotted Winston, who had just gotten off a call.
She stared at him wordlessly. What a small world!
Winston wasnât surprised to run into Millie on the flight, which was the earliest flight back home.
Millie regretted not buying an economyâclass seat. Meanwhile, Marvin cleared his throat and looked out of the window.
âHello, Ms. Caldwell,â Eli greeted her with a nod.
She stared at her feet. âHi.â
Silence filled the air.
The sky was dark outside. Millie turned in her seat to avoid looking in Winstonâs direction. She was ready to fall asleep after the plane took off, but Winston and Eli would not stop discussing work beside her. It annoyed her to no end.
âYouâre noisy,â she vented without taking a look at them.
Eli looked up. He immediately said to her, âIâm sorry.â
Winston glanced at Millieâs figure with an amused expression before going back to work and speaking at the same volume.
He remarked, âCall off this project and warn the people in Yerwick not to work with William Pearson. We need to axe all his businesses in Yerwick.â
Millie suddenly sat up in her seat at the mention of William. She looked at Winston. He happened to look at her. Her hair was a little messy, and her shirt collar was crooked.
âWhy donât we get rid of William Pearson once and for all?â Millie suggested.
Winston nearly choked in surprise. He shot her a wild look. He couldnât believe she had made that suggestion.
Grinning, she added, âAnd youâll tell them itâs your work.â
He was dumbstruck. Did she just suggest killing off William and pinning the blame on him?
âMs. Caldwell, I think you should rest,â he replied amicably.
She clicked her tongue and lay down. Fiddling with her fingers, she thought, âWell, itâs not like William Pearson has anything to live for.â
After she stabbed him in the stomach, he could never get an erection again. That would be a deadly blow
to a man.
Feeling tired, she drifted to sleep on her side very soon, Winston and Eli were still discussing work. It wasnât until they wrapped up that Winston realized she had fallen asleep facing him.
A wave of bitterness washed over him when he pictured all the emotions she had gone through for him over the years, and he knew they could never go back to where they were.

They landed in Yerwick at seven oâclock. The night had fallen.
Millie and Winston reached the airport entrance one after another.
âWin!â A singsong voice attracted everyoneâs attention. Joanna stood by the entrance and waved at him with a bouquet in her arms.
Millie quietly put on her sunglasses and walked past Winston after she spotted Joanna. Winston looked at Millie and swallowed hard before approaching Joanna.
JoannÃ¥ immediately gave him a hug. âWin, I missed you so much.â
He stared at the floor and pushed her away. âHow did you know Iâd land tonight?â
âEli told me!â She beamed.
Winston turned and saw Eliâs apologetic face. Eli couldnât decline to answer Joanna.
âWhatâs wrong with me asking Eli for your schedule when you refused to tell me?â she grumbled.
Winston didnât say a word, but soon, he was distracted by a scene.
Terrence had arrived at the airport with a gentleman to pick Millie up. The man shook Millieâs hands with a nervous look in his eyes.
