Chapter 376
Millie stole another look at Kennedy, thinking, âHm, heâs pretty hot.â
Her phone chimed. It was a text from Rachel. âHave you landed? Wanna join me for some drinks?â
âSure!â Millie replied before closing her phone. Then, she whispered to Terrence, âDad?â
âWhat is it?â Despite being interrupted, Terrence didnât seem irked.
âRachel invited me to hang out. Dropâme off in front.â Millie pointed toward the front.
Terrence replied, âOkay.â
Before she left, she nodded at Kennedy, âMr. Sullivan, happy working with my dad. See you again when I have the chance.â
Smiling, he answered, âYeah. See you again.â
Millie shut the car door and skipped her way to meet with Rachel. Unbeknownst to her, Kennedy, who had hesitated to cooperate with the Caldwell Group, finally gave the green light.
Millie changed into a black dress at the bar and casually put her hair up with a claw clip. Her elegant nape was on full display.
She ordered a glass of wine and searched for Rachel in the crowd. She spotted Rachel on her phone in a
corner.
Raising an eyebrow, she approached her friend with the wine and teased, âBabe, are you alone? Wanna join me for some drinks?â
Rachelâs head snapped up when she heard Millieâs voice.
They exchanged a smile. Rachel remarked, âUgh, that was so corny.â
Millie swirled the wine in her glass, looking unbothered, âDid you miss me?â
âIâm here to tell you that I plan to work with Simon Harrison,â Rachel announced.
Millie nodded. âThat sounds awesome. I have my eyes on the Harrison Corporationâs latest beauty line. It is a perfect match for you. I think it will sell like hot cakes!â
âMills, thatâs not my point.â
Millie raised an eyebrow. What was Rachel trying to say?
âFrom my interactions with Simon, I think heâs a great guy. Are you not going to reconsider dating him?â Rachel inquired with a frown.
As Millieâs good friend, she hoped Millie could settle down with a decent man. At times of need, she wouldnât mind giving Millie a push.
The mention of Simonâs name didnât make Millieâs heart flutter. She was honest with herself, and she only saw Simon as a friend.
âRach, I have no feelings for him,â she replied honestly.

A short pause later, Rachel let out a sigh. âMills, be honest with me. Are you still interested in Winston-
At the mention of Winstonâs name, Millie protested, âI might find it hard to fall in love with another man, but that doesnât mean I still have feelings for Winston.â
Rachel frowned with a complicated expression.
Millie stated, âRachel, I wonât look back. There is no possibility between Winston and I.â
âAlright. Thereâs plenty of fish in the sea. Mills, you deserve better!â Rachel gave her a hug. âWinston Greer is just a massive jerk and a piece of trash! Letâs throw him out! Remember, Mills. He didnât fall out of love with you. You were the one who dumped him!â
Then, Rachel added, âLetâs stop it now and start drinking!â She lifted her glass and coolly clinked glasses with Millie.
Before long, they were resting on each otherâs shoulders.
Rachel suddenly said, âMills, Iâll let you in on a secret.â
âHuh? What is it?â Millieâs eyes were glazed over.
Rachel leaned against Millie and whispered into her ear, âWâWhen in college, WâWinstonâ¦â

Rachelâs breathing grew heavy. Millie turned as she noticed something was wrong. Why did Rachelâs skin feel hot to the touch?
Frowning, she touched her forehead. Her body temperature was in the normal range. After that, she stared at Rachelâs empty glass before taking a sniff.
Oh, this was bad.
