Chapter 390
âMr. Greer, are you giving up already? I havenât even started to get serious,â Kennedy teased, leaning against the net with a smirk.
Winston didnât respond. Instead, he picked up his water bottle and took a sip. At the same time, he glanced at Millie, who was drenched in sweat, her face flushing.
Millie couldnât shake the feeling that something wasnât right between Kennedy and Winston.
âSince the game is over, Iâm done playing.â Millie then told Kennedy, âIâm going to take a shower and then head home. Mr. Sullivan, you should discuss business with my dad.â
Suddenly, Kennedy offered, âLet me give you a ride home.â
Millie was somewhat taken aback but quickly declined, âThereâs no need for that. Thank you, Mr.
Sullivan.â
With that, Millie headed to the womenâs locker room. Before long, she had finished showering and changed into a new outfit.
The top had a clever zip design. Pulling the zipper down would reveal her cleavage, while the lower part would expose a subtle design detail. So, Millie habitually pulled it down.
As she was about to leave, she spotted Winston standing by the door. He leaned against the frame with his hands in his pockets, looking like a laidâback university student.
When he noticed Millie coming out, he looked up. Their eyes met as she popped a candy into her mouth. âAre you waiting for me?â
âYes,â he replied honestly, his gaze briefly lingering on her outfit.
Millie nodded. âWhat is it that you want to tell me?â
Winston glanced toward the court before turning back to her and answered, âStay away from Kennedy.
âIn what way?â Millie asked as she narrowed her eyes.
âIn every way possible.â

Whether it was business or personal matters, Winston wanted Millie to keep her distance from Kennedy.
âDo you know him well?â Millie asked. She was puzzled because she didnât recall such a person being part of Winstonâs life.
âMillie, thatâs not important. Just heed my advice. Stay away from him. Itâs for your own good,â Winston replied seriously.
Although Millie didnât know the exact reason, she decided to be cautious. After all, Winston had made. the effort to speak to her.
âGot it.â

As Millie turned to leave, Winston suddenly called out to her, âHey.â
She looked back with confusion. Winston pressed his lips together and pointed at her shirt, saying, â Your zipper.â
Millie lowered her head. âWhatâs wrong?â
Winston frowned. Did she really not see how inappropriate it was?
âCanât you just zip it up properly?â he uttered flatly.
But Millie ignored him. She simply walked away without looking back.
As Winston stared at her departing figure, his gaze reflected complicated feelings that he couldnât quite put into words. It seemed like Millie had always been rebellious.
Her obedience during their marriage was nothing more than an act. No wonder Millie had become so resolute. Loving him had made her lose herself.
Suddenly, Winstonâs phone buzzed. It was a message from Eli. âMr. Greer, Kennedy has returned.â Winston pursed his lips. Eliâs information had come too late. He had already seen Kennedy.
Kennedy hadnât changed much from his younger years. He was still quiet and reserved, yet every glance he shot at Winston was filled with menace. It was as if he felt the world had let him down.
Eli: âDo you want someone to keep an eye on him?â
Winston: âYes.â
Eli: âMr. Greer, thereâs one more thing. Sonny doesnât have much time left. Do you want to see him for one last time?â
Winston gripped his phone tightly as he recalled Joannaâs words.
âWin, letâs just put the past behind us. I donât blame Sonny anymore. Seeing him only brings back memories of that terrifying day. Letâs just stay away from him, okay?â
Winston glanced at Eliâs message before putting his phone away.
