Chapter 400
Winston narrowed his eyes. It turned out Kennedy knew that Millie was his exâwife. Then why was he trying so hard to get close to Millie?
âMr. Greer, when will you release my cargo?â Kennedy pursed his lips, his gaze ominous.
Winston sized him up. It was as if he was trying to see through Kennedyâs intentions.
âWilliamâs goods are banned in Yerwick. This is a straightforward rule. But Mr. Sullivan, since you insist on importing them, donât expect any leniency from me.â Winstonâs voice was low and laden with authority.
Kennedy scowled, his eyes full of provocation as he taunted, âMr. Greer, is this all youâre capable of?â
âItâs more than enough for dealing with you,â Winston retorted with a mocking smile.
Kennedy immediately took a step forward, while his expression betrayed a hint of agitation.
Winston shot him an icy sideways glance and said coldly, âKennedy, if youâre trying to use the Caldwells to threaten me, I suggest you give up on that idea now.â
After all, the Caldwell family wouldnât easily be turned into a pawn in Kennedyâs game. Terrence might appear easygoing, but he was unyielding when it came to protecting his interests.
Kennedy balled his right hand into a fist and clenched his teeth in anger. Winston, on the other hand, met his eyes with a cold stare.
âLet me repeat myself. My family had nothing to do with that incident!â
Their eyes locked. Winstonâs expression was one of firm resolve, while Kennedyâs eyes were filled with intense hatred.
But in no time, Kennedy regained his composure. He smiled and nonchalantly commented, âMr. Greer, everyone has their Achillesâ heel. Donât be too confident just yet.â
Winstonâs expression darkened as he fixed his frosty gaze on Kennedyâs retreating figure.
âWinston.â Jakeâs voice came from behind.
Winston turned before acknowledging him with a hum.
âAre you alright?â Jake approached and patted his shoulder.
Winston nodded. What could possibly happen to him?
âKennedy seems aggressive. Is he back to seek revenge for what happened years ago?â asked Jake. That day was the first time he interacted with Kennedy.
Winston didnât respond, but Jake took his silence as confirmation.
He sighed before saying, âHey, I heard youâve been looking at wedding dresses lately. Are you really
going to marry that pretentious bitch?â
Winston shot him a look. âHer name is Joanna.â

âItâs all the same to me,â Jake responded. It was evident that he wasnât fond of Joanna.
He pouted and continued, âHave you thought this through? Once you marry Joanna, getting a divorce will be much harder than with Millie.
âBy the way, isnât the coolingâoff period for the divorce with Millie almost up? You should be getting your divorce decree soon, right?â
Winston was already feeling troubled, and now, Jake only added to his frustration by bringing up these matters.
âWin, you really need to think this over,â Jake advised seriously, firmly patting Winstonâs shoulder. Winston gave him a sideways glance. âI thought you were all for my divorce before. What changed?â Jake parted his lips to respond but couldnât find his words.
Winston scoffed. âAre you taking Millieâs side just because youâre trying to work with Rachel?â
With that, he entered the elevator. Before Jake could catch up, he pressed the close button.
Jaké stood before the elevator doors, chuckling in resignation.
Why did Winston have to be so perceptive all the time? Wouldnât life be easier if he were a bit more oblivious? Why did he have to lay out everything so clearly?
After leaving the hotel, Winston didnât know where to go. He drove around aimlessly, and somehow, he ended right outside the Caldwell Villa.
At that moment, his phone buzzed with a message from the designer.
âMr. Greer, do you have time tomorrow? Iâd like to meet with you and Ms. Lowell to take your measurements.â
