Chapter 406
need the herb?â Winston asked
just heard itâs very rare so I want tgcollect it. What if it comes in handy later? Like the Snowdrop last timeâ¦
Mentioning the Snowdrop made Joagha sigh. She would never forget about that incident. Millie had really humiliated her.
1 still need it, so I canât give it to you, Winston refused outright.
Joanna was displeased. âDidnât you say you werenât giving it to William anymore? So why canât I have it? Win, itâs just a herb. If itâs about money, I can pay for it
âItâs not about the money.â Winston turned her down again. He couldnât give her the Aspher, no matter what
âAre you planning to give it to someone else?â Joanna asked, puzzled,
Winston wasnât the type to hold onto things just for the sake of it. If he wasnât willing to give it to her, it meant he had use for it.
âYes,â Winston answered, choosing not to lie to Joanna.
When she heard his response, she huffed. âFine, everyone else is more important than me. Just give it to them. I donât want it anymore!â
âThe herb wouldnât be of any use to you, but it might be useful to someone else,â Winston explained.
Joanna shrugged and responded, âAlright, I donât want it then. Your connections are obviously more important.â
âThatâs my girl.â Winston smiled.
With that, Joanna finally let the matter go. If she couldnât have it, then so be it.
Millie was asleep when Marvin called. Still groggy, she answered the phone.
âBoss, Iâve managed to get in touch with the Aspherâs owner.â
Millie immediately opened her eyes, her voice tinged with excitement as she asked, âDid they agree to meet?â
âThey did. We talked about the price. They said the price is negotiable if youâre truly interested and it could be of use to you. We can discuss it in person. But since theyâre busy with work, they set the meeting for tonight at Rose Café.â
Millie narrowed her eyes and said. âAlright, you go.â
âI canât,â Marvin replied.
Millie was confused. âWhy not?â
âThey said you need to go in person to get it.â
Millie couldnât help but find it strange, Why did they need her to go in person?
âHow do they know whoâs buying?â she asked Marvin again.
Marvin fell into a brief silence before saying, âIâm not sure, but the seller insisted it has to be you. They want to see how sincere you are.â
Millie was rendered speechless. âAlright, Iâll be there on time.â
She couldnât shake the feeling that the Aspherâs owner was someone
she knew.
That evening, Millie arrived at Rose Café at the agreed time
+25 BOWLS
âYou can go now.â
Sitting in the car, Millie spoke to a young woman in the passenger seat. The woman was dressed in a white shirt and black skirt with her hair styled in pigtails.
Yvonne Booker grinned and replied, âGot it, boss! Iâll take care of it.â
With that, she quickly got out of the car and headed into the café.
Yvonne, an 18âyearâold young woman who Millie had taken in from the orphanage, was a ray of sunshine at M Base. She was smart and a great help to everyone.
Marvin got up from the back seat and yawned. âBoss, you really know how to outsmart them!â
âI donât even know who this person is, yet they insisted I come in person. Of course, I had to be cautious,â Millie replied with a snort.
The Aspherâs owner didnât know who she was either. What harm was there in sending someone else?
Millie watched as Yvonne entered the café and chose a seat by the
window.
Marvin then texted the person, saying, âIâm here by the window. Where are you?â
Yvonne glanced around. The café was crowded, and everyone seemed busy.
Right then, Marvin received a reply.
The seller: âI genuinely want to sell the Aspher to someone who truly needs it, but you sent someone else to pick it up.â
Marvin frowned after reading the message. What was this supposed to mean?
Marvin: âDo you know whoâs buying the Aspher?â
