Chapter 76
Millie frowned, unhappy with Winstonâs teasing.
Just as she was about to push him away, he pulled her into his embrace. He deliberately rested his chin on her shoulder and teased her, âSatisfying you is not out of the question.â
Millie was
rendered speechless. Winston really had ho shame. Why hadnât she realized that she was so shameless before?
She stomped on Winstonâs foot. He didnât back off, but he did let her go.
Millie glared at him resentfully. She was about to tum and leave when Winston frowned and asked, â Can you walk? Donât fall again.â
Millie forced a smile. âYou donât have to concern yourself with these matters, Mr. Greer.â
Then, she raised her leg, but unexpectedly, she stumbled again.
Winston hurried forward to help her, but before he could hold her, she had already grabbed the edge of
the bed herself.
Millie looked down. Her dress was caught on the bed,
Winston couldnât help but chuckle softly. Like a cello, it was low and sonorous.
He walked over to her and helped her untangle her dress.
When Millie met his gaze, she felt extremely embarrassed.
She quickly walked out, wanting to get away from Winston.
Meanwhile, he followed behind her quietly, smiling unknowingly.
The doctors were pacing outside the door. Once they saw Millie and Winston, they immediately greeted them. âMr. and Mrs. Greer.â
Winston grunted in acknowledgement before turning to look at Millie, who looked down. Her heart trembled. Very soon, she would not be Mrs. Greer anymore.
âThis is the ointment you need.â The doctor handed Millie an ointment and reminded her, âAlthough your wounds arenât deep, there are many of them. To prevent infection, please come back three days. later for a followâup.â
Millie nodded at once. âOkay.â
âGood. You studied medicine yourself, so I wonât say more.â The doctor smiled before looking at Winston and teasing him. âMr. Greer, you will need to take extra care of your wife for some time.â
Winston paused and looked at Millie for some reason. Both of them looked awkward.
Even though they were married, they didnât know why when someone referred to them as husband and wife, they would always feel uneasy.
Millie thought that Winston wouldnât answer the doctor. After all, the doctor had referred to her as his

Millieâs heart raced. She didnât want to admit that this was the scar she got four years ago from saving.
Winston.
This would only reopen the wounds in her heart which reminded her of her foolishness. She had risked her life for a person who didnât love her. Yet, she gained nothing in return.
Millie straightened out her dress. With an indifferent expression, she said calmly, âI fell from a height and crashed into a vase when I was young. The vase broke and cut me.â
âA vase?â Winston wanted to examine Millieâs wound more closely, but Millie had already turned to face him.
Her eyes were reddened. âYou didnât care about me when we got married. Weâre getting a divorce now, so why are you still so concerned about me?â
Winstonâs lips parted slightly. Millie leaned toward him and said playfully, âCould it be that youâve started to take an interest in me, Mr. Greer?â
The doctors in the emergency room looked at each other before leaving.
Winstonâs expression darkened. He didnât look too happy. âMillie, youâre being delusional again.â
Hearing this, Millie smiled and said, âReally? Then donât ask so many questions. Otherwise, Iâll overthink.â She slipped out of bed.
âThank you for sending me to the hospital, Mr. Greerâ¦â Millie was about to leave when she stumbled.
Before she could fall to the ground, she felt a warmth around her waist. The next moment, she was pulled into an embrace.
Millieâs face was buried in Winstonâs chest. She felt a slight pain from her wounds that had been touched.
For some reason, she held his arm tightly.
Winston narrowed his eyes. Feeling Millie grabbing him, he couldnât help but smile. âPerhaps I can say that you did that on purpose,â he said flirtily into her ear.
D
In his world, he only had one wife, and that was Joanna,
Not wanting the doctor to feel awkward, Millie was about to say something when she heard Winston say in a low voice, âOkay.â
She looked at him in shock. Meanwhile, Winston was staring at her.
His gaze was profound. What was he looking at?
Millie bit her lip. She really didnât understand Winston now.
What was the meaning of this? Was he trying to preserve her dignity? Did she have to thank him?
âIâm sorry for troubling all of you to come here so late at night. Iâll treat you all to a meal soon,â Winston said politely.
The doctors all waved their hands.
Winston held Millieâs wrist and looked at the doctors, saying regally and calmly, âThen my wife and I will leave first.â
Millieâs eyes were filled with shock. She stared at her wrist that was being held by Winston in disbelief before looking at his face.
âYou donât have to see us off.â With that, he led her out.
He quickened his pace a little. Millie followed him somewhat reluctantly, but her gaze did not leave his
face.
Winston was indeed handsome. He was tall and he had a lean waist.
His face was flawless, and he had a tall nose bridge, double eyelids, and long and thick eyelashes. His side profile was extremely attractive.
Millie thought that if she could turn back time, she might still inevitably fall in love with Winston.
However, Winston was not his usual self that night. Why was he treating her so well?
