Rachel hadnât wanted to say anything about Winston After all, Millie still loved Winston, and she would be hurt if Rachel talked shit about him.
But he was the one who asked for it.
Winstonâs handsome features morphed into a cold scowl as he said in a low voice, âRachel!â
Rachel wasnât like Millie. She never let the same mistake happen twice. She glared at him and taunted boldly, âWhatâs with the barking? Are you a dog?â
Winston frowned deeply. His dark eyes were staring at Rachel coldly.
The other people in the lobby immediately turned to look at them. When the manager saw Winston, he immediately arranged for someone to control the crowd. He didnât want to cause a scene.
Joanna immediately stood in front of Winston and said, âEnough! Rachel, if youâre mad at me, then say it to my face! Why are you yelling at Win?â
âDid you think I wouldnât dare to yell at you?â Rachel glared at Joanna.
Was she really taking herself that seriously?
âYouâre just a mistress. What did you think would happen in front of his actual wife?â Rachel jeered.
Joanna trembled when she heard that. Did Rachel just call her a mistress?
âRachel, watch your words! Youâre crossing the line!â Joanna shouted.
Rachel wanted to laugh. Crossing the line? She could cross it even further.
Millie pressed her lips together and noticed Winstonâs icy expression.
He was holding himself back.
Millie pulled Rachelâs elbow again. She knew Rachel felt bad for her and wanted to speak up for her friend, but she didnât want Rachel to get into trouble because of her.
However, she couldnât stop Rachel from talking. She fired off like a machine gun, saying. âYou knew Winston was married and yet continued to flirt with him! Youâre in the wrong and so is Winston. Both of you are horrible people!â
She then spat angrily at their feet.
Winston dug his fingertips into the gift box he was holding. He could understand why Rachel was acting the way she was since she was Millieâs best friend, and that was why he wouldnât do anything
to her.
âWin and I truly love each other. Millie was the one who refused to let us be happy,â Joanna said -pitifully. No one had ever called her a mistress to her face before.
Millie froze. Refused to let them be happy? Millie had fallen in love with Winston first. Did true love always come true for everyone?

Chapter 90
The Caldwell familyâs house was filled to the brim with roses. Rachel had practically bought her every single rose in Yermick City.
Millie looked at the front and back yard covered in roses and asked, âWhy do I need a man when I have a best friend like Rachel?â
âWhatâs going on?â Terrence asked in confusion, having just gotten home from work. âDo you have a new admirer? Gosh, what a scene!â He looked up at his daughter and reminded her, âMills, you have a habit of falling too easily. Donât be swayed just because he filled our yard up with roses!â
Millie forced out a tense smile.
Suddenly, her phone began to ring.
Millie turned around and leaned against the railing instead. It was a call from Winston.
Millie hesitated for a moment before accepting the call. She brought her phone to her ear and looked down as she said coldly, âMr. Greer.â
âCome out. Iâm in front of your house,â he said icily His tone sounded more like a command than a request.
Millie froze in surprise.
She turned to look outside the gates. Beyond all the roses in the yard, she could see a silver supercar) parked below a nearby tree.
âWhat do you want?â Millie asked, distraught.
He rarely came over to the Caldwells. Why was he coming over so often now?
âJoanna was being unreasonable earlier and made you unhappy. Iâm here to apologize on her behalf,â Winston said. His voice sounded low and flat, almost as if something was dragging his mood down.
Millie looked down, feeling her heart skip a beat.
Apologizing on Joannaâs behalf? He was Winston Greer, the backbone of Yerwick Cityâs finances.
He never bowed down for anyone, unless that person was Joanna.
Millie couldnât help but sigh wistfully.
She replied, âNo need. Iâm not mad.â
The other end fell silent for three seconds before he laughed bitterly and asked, âYouâre not mad?â
Millie replied lightly, âYes.â
She used to get mad because she loved Winston, but now she no longer loved him. She wasnât his wife anymore, so what was there to be angry about?
Rachel had already cheered her up by buying her a whole gardenâs worth of roses.

If that was the case, then what had Millieâs true love gotten her?

Rachel chuckled mockingly. âOkay, you could call your relationship true love. What about Millieâs true love?â
She turned her aim towards Winston. âYou can tell us for yourself, Winston. Was the love Millie showed you not true love?â
Winston looked at Millie. His gaze seemed weighed down.
Millie looked away, not wanting to look at him.
Her heart hurt whenever she looked at him.
Rachel waited for his reply, but he stayed silent. She finally said angrily, âMillie spent seven years waiting for you. Even a dog would have been kind enough to notice her efforts by now. Sadly, you canât even measure up to a dog. Letâs go, Millie.â
Rachel grabbed Millie by the wrist and walked out. When she walked past Joanna, she purposely shoved her with her shoulder.
Joanna was the real betrayer here.
Had she forgotten that Millie was the only reason Joanna could even go study medicine in the first place?
She would have been nothing without Millie.
Millie had been so good to Joanna back then. Even Rachel had gotten jealous of how well Millie treated Joanna, but she had fallen in love with Winston.
âHurry up and finalize the divorce, bastard! Youâre a piece of shit!â Rachel shouted as they left.
Millie didnât know whether to laugh or cry after witnessing Rachelâs temper.
âCome on, youâre a movie star! Is it really okay for you to be cursing in public like that?â Millie asked jokingly.
âPlease, my best friend is getting treated like trash by her husband! I couldnât care less about my image right now!â Rachel said through gritted teeth.
She had already done her best to hold back just now.
If she followed the script of her usual female lead roles, she would already have slapped Joanna into next week.
How could she dare to act so cocky in front of Winstonâs actual wife?
âLetâs go somewhere,â Rachel sald as she opened the door and beckoned for Millie to enter.
âWhere?â Millie asked.
âIâll buy you flowers! Iâll buy you a whole truckload! Heck, Iâll buy you a whole garden!â Rachel declared.
It was just a stupid bouquet of flowers! What was there to show off about it?
Millie approached Winston and was about to walk outside with him.
Suddenly, Terrence grabbed her arm.
Millie and Winston looked at him at the same time. He was clearly in a horrible mood, and his expression was as flat and cold as a rock.
He said, âMillie, talk things out as soon as you can. The earlier you two let each other go, the better for everyone involved.â
