Chapter 7

Mudassar slammed the door shut to his cabin and plopped on his chair, pulling his hair in frustration he groaned. He was on his way to talk to Sana. It's been days since she was recovering and he kept finding ways to spend all his free time with her, alone which was kind of impossible as their family or hospital staff kept dropping by. He never hated Sana'a popularity as much in all those years as he did in the last days.

Well, she liked keeping her circle close and small back in their school days. But things changed in those 9 years they were apart. Her shell broke and she started socializing more. Now the whole of her ER department along with other doctors and even the patients was her acquaintance.

His phone rang flashing 'Ammi'. He silenced the device and dived into the whole of his work.

For the next two days, he kept out of the hospital, visiting sites and adhering to his scheduled meetings with investors, mentors, and people he required to divulge in another field. He wanted to expand the Adami group into manufacturing medical supplies.

He shook hands with the promoter after their successful meeting and started walking out towards the office parking lot when his phone rang. He was in full mood to decline his Ammi's call but the name caught him off-guard.

"Nurse Arefa" he read and received it. Frown marring his features.

"Mr. Adami" came her panicked voice.

Sana? His eyes morphed into worry "What's wrong?"

"It's Dr. Qureshi. She's having internal bleeding. We're taking her into surgery but she refuses to comply. She wants to talk to you. Sir, please try and make her understand how important it is to get a timely surgery done"

"What?! Give her phone" He raged.

"Sana talks to him" the phone shuffled.

"Sana, what the in the world is wrong with you? Just go with them. Stop being stubborn for once" he yelled on the phone.

"Keep yelling. I'm not going with them also" came a voice laced with pain and fatigue. "You can continue ignoring me"

"Sana. Sana" the phone beeped.

He clutched the phone tight, wanting to slam the device into the wall. He pinched between his eyes and re-dialed but no one received.

He punched the car hood. Getting inside, he started driving to the hospital. How was he supposed to inform that crazy woman how difficult it was to not see her when his steps carried him towards her at every second?

The drive was short, a blessing to his mental health. He rushed inside and found the same hospital ruckus. Taking the elevator, he walked towards her room. Half a mind that Nurse Arefa would be able to convince her, Persuading Sana Qureshi was harder than finding life on Neptune.

Barging inside her door, he found her on the bed, she looked calm and healthy, her eyebrow raised mockingly. "Not ignoring me anymore I see"

"Why are you not in the surgery? Where are the doctors?" he looked around.

"No surgery needed, see I'm perfectly all right" She looked fine, was it a....

His face darkened. "Qureshi, you just did not trick me, you faked everything?"

" Yeah I did, so?" she challenged, shifting a little but winced. She looked up towards him "Help me sit Adami. I'm still suffering fracture"

Mudassar glared at her. "Help yourself. Now that you can fake pain and cause stress to people. I'm sure this fracture holds nothing on you."

She scowled "Keep that attitude and I'll make sure you pay for it."

The glaring match continued and she huffed.

"Fine. Don't help me, continue your ignoring game. I'll call Arif to help me" she raised the button on her left side and pressed it, all making a showoff.

"Crazy woman" he gritted and stomped towards her, he adjusted the bed and then lifted her slightly to make her lean back comfortably.

"You need something Sa...M...Mr. Adami" Arefa opened the door, her lips clamping into a baffled smile. "I...I'm so...sorry sir. She c...coerced into me helping her"

"It's fine, Arefa Appi. Just get me my phone. I won't bother you or anyone for that matter." Sana piped.

The older looked at her sternly "You have a concussion. No screen time for a week more."

"No one cares Appi. Just give me my phone. I'm bored here"

"You can leave" He dismissed the nurse and Sana glared at him.

"You can't..."

"Sana stop being difficult." He snapped. "You think this is fun calling me and conveying you need surgery? This is not funny at all. You know how tense I was the entire way here thinking about you. But no, you don't care. You're irresponsible and uncaring. Got it. Point taken. Stop proving it every time. You don't care about yourself fine. Don't. But stop worrying people for you. Stop giving stress to others. We care about you but that doesn't mean you'll take undue advantage of this care."

Sana stared at him blankly. She smiled mirthlessly. "You're right. I shouldn't act this desperate. I'm sorry for doing everything. You can leave Mudassar. Thank you for telling me that" Her eyes darted away from him. She closed her eyes and didn't open them back.

He blinked hard, coming down from his high of anger. He exhaled and walked toward her. He tried taking her hand but she jerked away from him. Not looking back at him.

"Sana. I was angry with you but I shouldn't have said so much. I'm sorry. You're not desperate. I know you're bored in here" He said.

She didn't say a word.

"Sana. Say something, please. I'm sorry for hurting you. That day was too difficult for me and it just came out all on you." He touched her face. "You don't know how much nightmare-ish that day was. One second you were driving towards me and another you were lying in that up-side down car, all bloody. That accident broke everything inside me and I thought I lost you..."

She snorted "You lost me the day you said I wasn't fitting with you. Had I yelled at you that day? I would have felt better than worthless in all these years." She looked at him straight, staring into his soul. "You know how much my world revolved around you? I kept fewer people close to me because I knew I was imperfect but I thought I was the best version of myself with you. You were my best-friend Mudassar and just one day you said all that to me. Breaking all of me. But you taught me independence and I'm glad you did. I wouldn't have been a doctor if not for you showing me my place that day. So really you...."

" I loved you" he announced "You really think I meant a single word I said that day? You were the smartest kid in your class. You were beautiful at the age of sixteen. Do you think you didn't fit with me? Wrong Sana Qureshi. You fit everywhere and where you don't you stand out brightly." He raked a hand in his hair. "The reason I said all those things was because I was falling in love with you. You started being more than just best friends to me. I was scared about these new feelings. I was insecure you'll realize your worth and you'll leave heartbroken so I did that stupidity. I left you. But you see the irony? I changed places, I met People I did every single thing but I couldn't move on from you. Every time I saw you with your parents I fell more and deeper into you. I tried treating you as my employee but that just became more difficult with you there with me in the same building. Every time you barged inside my cabin, I wanted to tell you how much I love you, but you come with all your big guns and started shooting words at me, not giving me a chance to talk. God, it was suffering."

"Good that you got the punishment yourself. That's for pushing me away" She scoffed "And, I do give you chance to speak. Like now"

He rolled his eyes, slapping his forehead. "Is that the only thing you have to say?"

"Well..." she trailed "I have to tell you this. At every party those aunties shoved their daughters to you for marriage I resisted screaming at the top of my voice that you were gay and not interested in females."

He gaped "What? I'm not..."

"I know" she cut him off "I didn't want you to marry them but at the same time I didn't know then that you loved me. I was jealous and possessive of you" she shrugged and winced loudly.

"Careful crazy head" he chastised, but started laughing in return. "You seriously are the only piece in the world. Allah will never make another one after you"

She glared huffing "I'll make another me myself and trust me my daughter will learn everything from me. She'll give you such a hard time Adami, I'll mentor her for doing that to you."

"Then I'll have to keep a tight leash on my girls" he stated promisingly.

She gasped "W...what did you say?"

"That you're mine and so will be our daughter." He smirked.

Sana was speechless "Huh... I...no"

"Yes." He said in finality. "You're marrying only me Sana Qureshi. I won't let you think otherwise."

Sana pouted.

"What?" he frowned "What is that face for?"

"You could have been a little more romantic and have chosen a better place to propose to me Mudassar. I'm in a hospital and on bed rest. And what's that..." she mimicked his tone " 'You're marrying only me Sana Qureshi. I won't let you think otherwise.' Be romantic. Take me on a date or shower me with all your love and then ask me to marry you. Who will say yes to that proposal?"

His laughter made her groan in frustration.

"Mudassar" she screamed in annoyance. "Call mine and your Ammi. I'll tell them how insane their lovely son is. I'm not marrying you, idiot."

"Oh," he chuckled, covering his amusement he tried to pull a straight face but failed "You're marrying me, love. No choice you got there"

Her face contorted to almost crying. "You're not funny idiot Adami"

He tried to push down his amusement and exhaled loudly.

"Moron" She scowled. He pulled her into a hug.

"I'm so sorry love. I love you" he said.

She leaned in him grumbling "I love you too. This one is free. Next time you'll earn it "

"Got it, love"
