Chapter 13

Hunter put his arm around Lilac’s waist possessively, as if he was flaunting her to all the people inside the room. Since he was the main event of this party, he should share the same amount of attention to the woman he was with right now.

“Do you think he is going to kill me?” Hunter asked when he saw Lilac’s face became uncomfortable to see Aiden and Ruby together. They actually came to the party as a couple, as if to announce their togetherness.

Lilac really wanted to scold herself for being so dumb. What she actually expected? Of course, they would be together, Ruby was carrying the firstborn of the future alpha after all, the baby would continue the line of alpha in this pack, the baby was so precious. There was no way she could compare to this woman, even though she was the destined mate.

“What is it with that long face?” Hunter glanced at her and scoffed. “That woman is not as beautiful as you. It’s his lose for being a cheater.”

Lilac grimaced. She was not sure whether he was trying to cheer her up or he had another hidden purpose with the way he talked to her. Thank you, but a mate bond is a complicated thing. You can’t just break it casily.

“Are you telling me, you have not yet rejected him?” Hunter raised his brows Lilac frowned. He made it sounded so easy and trivial. “As a lycan, you will not understand how the mate bond works, so don’t talk about it lightly.”

A lycan didn’t have a mate bond, they wouldn’t know how it felt to have one, or the happiness and relief when they finally found their other half. It was a thrilled, something that every werewolf looked forward when they came to age.

However, lycan didn’t have such thing, they would choose their partner for life based on their interest.

There was nothing tied them down.

“Mate bond is a bullshit. You people, are trying to make it sounds special. What is that for?”

“So, you can find your soulmate,” Lilac replied. A little bit offended, because of the way how blunt Hunter talked down about their identity that had been there for hundreds of years.

“In that sense, your soulmate is a cheater? Hunter retorted and Lilac couldn’t find the right answer for that. “See? It’s ridiculous.”

Lilac didn’t want to butthead with him, but she didn’t want to approach Aiden and Ruby either. The look on Aiden’s face was mortifying, his expression showed as if his family had been slaughtered. Why would he care!

“I want to get some drink,” Lilac mumbled, as she tried to go away, but Hunter didn’t let go, he pressed his palm against her hip to prevent her from moving away, which made Lilac glared at him. “Are you crazy? want to drink something,” Lilac hissed.

“Let’s get the drink together after we greet them all.”

“Because you are my woman for tonight.” Hunter tilted his head, as if he was thinking for a while. “Well, it can be more than tonight if you want. I don’t mind.”

“You are crazy!” Lilac growled, but she kept her expression in check, since they were still out of carshot from Aiden, so in his point of view, the two of them were simply having a delightful conversation, especially when the music was so loud.

“Do you have another swearing words? Because you have used that one often.” Hunter smirked to see how annoyed Lilac was with him. Somehow, the look on her face amused him so much. “Don’t put a long face like that, you don’t want him to see how miserable you are. Show him how unaffected you are with his infidelity, then he will know what he has lost.”

Lilac pressed her l*ps tightly, she didn’t want to listen to what he said, because deep down she knew, she didn’t want to appear so miserable in front of Aiden. She didn’t want to give him the pleasure to know how much had broken her heart and trust.

“Such garbage doesn’t deserve your tears, Lilac.” Hunter cursed at the son of the alpha of this pack lightly, as if he had done it several times and he was very smooth with it.

Somehow, his comment made Lilac giggled. She felt oddly relief, there was someone cursing at Aiden, since no one would dare to do that in this pack.

“See? Your smile is so beautiful.” Hunter stretched out his hand and tucked a strand of her hair.

This small gesture didn’t go unnoticed by Aiden, since he had been watching the two of them.

“Are you, okay?” Ruby asked Aiden, who was so stiffened upon watching the sight before his eyes.

Meanwhile, the alpha and the luna narrowed their eyes with the interaction between Lilac and Hunter.

“Mother, Aiden.called his mother, as he turned his b*dy around, ignoring Ruby. “You need to warn Lilac not to go overbroad. I know she is upset with me, but to go to alpha Hunter and openly show off their affection is not right. We are indeed in peace treaty, but the lycan had been our enemy for the past year and there are still a lot of tension between us,”

Luna Jasmine nodded and then looked at her mate, who seemingly had the same opinion. “I know, I will talk with her later.” Luna Jasmine smiled helplessly. “Calm yourself down. Lilac only does it to upset you. You shouldn’t lose your temper to her again when you are in the wrong.” Luna Jasmine glanced viciously at Ruby, who immediately lowered her head.

The luna didn’t like this random woman, who came out of nowhere and was very disappointed to her.son. but in the end of the day, the baby in that woman’s stomach was Aiden’s flesh and blood.
