Chapter 23

“I reject you as my mate.” Lilac said clearly. Her voice rang inside the main hall, followed by a loud gasp from people around them. She stared at Aiden when she felt the snap of the mate bond between them.

The pain was staggering, as she fell to her knees and breathed heavily, while Aiden took a step back.

clutching his chest, as she felt the same pain that Lilac tried to endure right now.

“No..” Aiden muttered the word in disbelieve when he watched Lilac’s face contorted in pain. He didn’t mean to push her this far, he didn’t mean for her to reject him. He only wanted to scare her, so she would know she had nowhere to go.

Why she didn’t plea and ask for forgiveness for what she had done and why she took things too far?

Aiden didn’t expect the rejection. He expected for her to beg and plea with him, to save her life because she had no one aside from him and this pack…

“No… Lilac… I don’t…” Aiden clutched his chest tightly, as he was having a hard time to breath, he felt the mate bond snap and this feeling would linger for a few days before it really disappeared and there was nothing that could tie them down.

On the other hand, Lilac’s rejection took Hunter by surprised as well, because not so long ago, she was still having a doubt to reject Aiden. Whatever was in her mind to reconsider the rejection must have vanished the moment Aiden landed a harsh slap on her cheek However, he was also the first person, who snapped back to the reality and carried Lilac in his arms because she was in so much pain to be able to stand on her own feet.

The sight agitated Aiden even more, as he growled at Hunter to put her down.

“Put her down! PUT HER DOWN!” Aiden roared, he was about to approach Hunter, staggering on his feet, as he was still trying to hold back the almost unbearable pain.

But right at that time, alpha James came to stop his son. He knew the fight would break loose the moment Aiden got his hand on Hunter and with his current condition, there was no way his son would be able to tackle down the alpha lycan.

More so, it would ruin the purpose of the meeting. It would trigger another war with different reason and the peace treaty they had earned in so much difficulty with a lot of blood and lives would go to the drain if another war broke Alpha James couldn’t let that to happen, especially when the cause of it was because Aiden’s impulsiveness.

“HOW DARE YOU TO TOUCH MY MATE?!” Aiden was enraged with jealousy, the pain only made it hard for him to think straight, as he wanted to make Lilac took back what she had said. This woman had gone too farl “HOW DARE YOU TO TOUCH MY MATE!”

With that, Hunter turned around and Aiden could see how Lilac rested her head against his chest, while closing her eyes, her face contorted in pain, as her breathing became shallow.

However, what Aiden saw was how Lilac was being too close with the other man and he couldn’t accept that.

She was his mate and no one should touch her that way, aside from him. They were too close and the sight of them right now only made his blood boiled with anger. Aiden didn’t even care with his father’s warning to keep it down and cut it out.

“Mate?” Hunter repeated the way Aiden claimed Lilac, he used a mocking tone when he spoke and this didn’t go well with Aiden. “I thought you don’t understand it, but as far as I know, less than ten minutes ago, she has rejected you as her mate. Don’t you think the cause of the pain you have to endure right now is the valid evidence that you are no longer able to call her as your mate, because you are not.”

Hunter didn’t even falter when he criticized Aiden. He didn’t hold himself back and alpha James narrowed his eyes at him.

“Alpha Hunter, I think you don’t need to be nasty about it. This is our internal problem, you shouldn’t be here in the first place, alpha James said sternly.

Yet, Hunter simply chuckled when he heard that and then looked around him to the other five alphas and lunas that presence there, his gesture was very clear.

“It’s so funny when you said this is your internal problem when all the alphas and lunas are here, except from me. I thought, we have united and will work together in the future, but with your statement, why I feel like I was being left alone? Does the peace treaty hold any meaning for you?”

Hearing that question, alpha James couldn’t retort, so did the rest of the alpha, because they didn’t know what the right word to say.

And when they thought alpha Hunter would be petty enough to bring alpha James’s mishap with his statement, actually the alpha lycan turned around and continued to walk, as if there was nothing happened. He literally took away Lilac under her mate’s nose, or he could say it was her ex mate.

Once Hunter had taken Lilac away, Aiden broke down, he roared on the top of his lungs, the pain and anger mixed together and it was not a good combination to say the least.

Meanwhile, Hunter decided to take Lilac to her own bedroom, because he had caused so much trouble. and stir the situation into a murky water. He couldn’t provoke them more than this.

“I will return to take you with me, just wait for me, okay?” Hunter said, as he leaned over to k*ss Lilac’s l*ps, which startled her.
