The look in Jamesonâs eyes was best described as sinister, like an evil spirit from hell.
âDonât stare at me like that! I wouldnât have done this to a friend. I had no choice but to do this to you because youâre manipulative and fickle! âShuddering, Inigo clenched his jaw and added, âYears of friendship taught me that you are a merciless man. I will have to look out for myself.â
âDo you really have the recording?â Jameson squinted and drawled.
âHah! Scared, arenât you?â Inigo chuckled gleefully. âIt doesnât make sense for me to carry it around. Of course, I have it saved somewhere secure. Lay a finger on me, and I will make the recording public.â
Jameson asked coldly, âSo, what are your demands?â He never beat around the bush in negotiations.
âGet me a private jet. Send my men and I abroad. Iâll need enough money, too! Do you know how much trouble I went through to deal with those two guys? You shouldnât be stingy.â
âHow much would you need?â
âA hundred million dollars, transferred to my offshore account. Iâll send you the recording once I receive the money and disappear from your life forever.â Chuckling evilly, Inigo raised a brow. âWe are longtime partners. I believe youâve gained a fair share from working with me. A hundred million dollars is nothing for you. Just treat it as a termination fee.â
A hundred million dollars? Carl gaped at Inigoâs bold request.
âDeal. The money will be transferred in three days,â Jameson coolly Inigo even regretted not asking for a higher amount.
Then, Jameson advised him, âIf I were you, I would stay in hiding over the next three days. Iâm sure the Becketts and the Harpers are looking for you.â He took a slow sip of red wine.
Inigo snapped, âYou donât have to remind me! Just transfer the money, and weâre good!â
After they struck a deal, Carl saw Inigo to the door. After the door closed, Jameson poured the red wine all over the pristine white rug with a cheerless look. He muttered ominously, âI raise a glass in memory of you, my old friend.â
Soon, Carl rushed back to Jamesonâs side and exclaimed, âMr. Schmidt, are you seriously going to transfer a hundred million dollars to that loser?â
âOf course I will. I canât risk having Alyssa learn about my plans,â Jameson replied lazily and waved his wine glass at Carl.
Carl picked up the hint and poured him more wine. Jameson hinted, Whatâs the point of getting a hundred million dollars if he wonât bel able to enjoy it?â
Stunned, Carl stammered, âA-Are you thinking of k-killing him off?â
âWhat else?â Jameson adjusted his glasses and explained, âThis was not in my original plan, but I couldnât risk keeping him around after he blackmailed me on my relationship with Alyssa.â
âIf you plan to kill him, why bother transferring the money?â Carl looked perplexed.
âThatâs the only way to make him leave Solana City. I will only make al move on him after he leaves the city, or it will be too risky.â
Jamesonâs expression darkened. âMonitor Inigo Montoye and his accomplices closely over the next three days. Report any movements of the Becketts and the Harpers to me right away. Before I kill Inigo with my own hands, I do not want the Becketts or the Harpers to get their hands on him. Got it?â
âRoger that!â
