Xavier’s booming voice traveled far, allowing Alyssa to overhear it.

“Dr. McAlister, I have something to attend to here. I’ll contact you again after!”

Alyssa hung up hurriedly. She immediately looked at Jasper with gleaming eyes.

The corners of his lips turned up slightly. He stroked the top of her head and asked, “How did he finally come to his senses?”

“Just last night, Jeffrey was attacked by his cellmate. He was stabbed in his neck with a toothbrush!

Lucky for him, some competent prison guards on patrol came by. Only then was he saved in time!”

Jasper looked straight into Alyssa’s eyes. “How is his condition now, then?” he asked.

“He was transported to the hospital for treatment. Once he surpassed the critical period, he made a fuss about meeting you and Madam. My guess is that he was scared shitless!”

Xavier sniggered coldly, “He has just been in prison for a few days, and there’s already been an attempt on his life. How is he going to get through the 20 long years in the future? No question, he wants to crawl to you both to beg for a way out!”

Alyssa’s eyes lit up. In her glee, she tiptoed, put her arms around Jasper’s neck, and then gave him a loving kiss on his cheek.

Jasper’s gaze turned loving. He put his right arm around her waist. With one arm, he picked her up by her tush and lifted her effortlessly.

He was bursting with his manliness, and it made her blood rush.

With his left hand on the back of her head, he responded to her with a passionate kiss.

The shy expression on her face reflected in his twinkling eyes as their lips touched.

Alyssa touched the tip of her nose to Jasper’s and complimented, ” You really calculated all the moves that evil Sophia has made. That’s my Jasper.”

She no longer held back her praises to him.

“I could think of that because I have you, Lyse, my better half. Your exceptional intelligence gave me a realization. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have thought of such an idea.”

Jasper gave her a peck on her lips, then continued, “Sophia fell intol the trap. But the main contribution was that you made use of the comments section to push her. She had a guilty conscience. That’s why she thought of silencing him.

“However, I really didn’t expect her to act on it so quickly. She is currently grounded by Javier. Ronald and Jeffrey have also been arrested.

“I’m surprised she could still find someone to do the work for her even without stepping out of the house. She really does have many people who support her.”

Alyssa narrowed her eyes. She said, “Don’t forget, Mr. Beckett. There’s still your younger sister, Betty.

If you want to make a comparison on who the cruel one is, she definitely surpasses Sophia.”

“I only have one younger sister, and that is Lauren,” Jasper answered in a hoarse and sultry voice.

He squinted, as if he were a lion eyeing a prey it had desired. His arrogance and sexiness made her heart pound extremely hard.

“You, though, seem to have a number of male best friends.”

“Who are you referring to? Dr. McAlister?”

Alyssa let out a mischievous smile and asked, “Hmm? Are you jealous?”

“What do you think?”

Jasper’s eyes turned red. He continued, “Winston, your brothers, and myself are people who put you first in our lives, and we’ll lay down our lives willingly for you. So, no one would believe he isn’t hoping for anything more with you.”

“So what? I am an unattainable dream,” she replied with a flirtatious look in her eyes.

She twirled her hair and harrumphed, “If you can’t bear to even see Dr. McAlister around me, you’re going to have lots to suffer in the future.”

Jasper knew that she was simply joking. But it made him feel sour. The bright look in his eyes became dim, too.

“But…”

Alyssa decided to stop teasing him. In a warm and cheeky voi said by his ear, “Anyone can give me the world, but there is only want.”

Jasper’s heart raced, beating heavily in his chest.

All of a sudden, he was reminded of many things about the past.

In the three years that passed, she lived through the long days and nights laden with suffering. Yet, she stayed by his side throughout.

Today, a regular friend of hers appeared by her side, and he couldn’t accept it?

When he thought about how heartless and cold he was toward her in was being sliced by a knife over and over.

It’s not something worth tearing up for, is it?”

“No, it’s not. I’m fine.” Jasper took a deep breath and put a smile on his face again.

“Get your things tidied up. We’ll first go to Cyrus, then meet Jeffrey after,” Alyssa said as she tried to get down from him.

To her surprise, he pulled her in by the waist, closing the gap between them once again.

“I’m hungry, Lyse,” he expressed his dissatisfaction in his hoarse voice.

He carried her and started walking toward the bedroom. “Feed first so I have the energy to get things done.”
