âWhat do I need to do for you to let me go free, Jasper Beckelt?â Alyssa growled over the phone. âDo you know how imitating it w âYou keep getting involved in my private aftalts again and again. Iâve said Iâd make it up to you for being attacked. Sean has gone to you already. So, what is this now?â
âDidnât you want a divorce? This is your chance,â Jasperâs voice quivered slightly. âCome outside to see me, and Iâll fet that right go wonât go after your brother,â
âYouâAlyssa Inhaled sharply.
Was this really Jasper Beckett? What the hell had happened to him? He was usually so composed and collected!
âFine, Iâll come outside. But you better keep your word tonight. The divorce is final after this! Alyssa retorted, then angrily hung up the call As Alyssa was about to head outside, Clark hurried over to Mandy and said urgently, âMadam, thereâs a Maybach parked outside the premises for nearly an hour now. Its license plate is A7777. Two men in suits are with it. Theyâve been surveilling the manor since their arrival. Should I alert the security?â
Mandy gave it a thought. âNot yet. Donât tell Winston first. Iâll take care of it.â
âYes, madam.â The butler nodded.
Mandy swiltly went to get Colene and Lyla. âEmergency meeting, girls,â
âWhat?â Lyla blinked, clueless.
Colene sald, âWhat Is II, Mandy? Spill the beans.â
âThat asshole Jasper Beckett is here, right outside the grounds. My guess is heâs here for Alyssa again,â Mandy revealed, gaze turning steely.
Colene turned furious in a split second. âWhat? That heartless bastard is right outside our home? That fuckâIâm going out right now!â She was able to march out the front door when Lyla grabbed her by the sleeves, stopping her. âCalm down, Colene! We canât cause a scene lest Winston finds out. We canât Jeopardize Alyssaâs secret!â
âWhat else can I do? Heâs outside right now!â Colene lumed. âOur Alyssa has suffered so much while being married to him. Look at what heâs done now. She has become a divorcee for no reason at all! We canât just sit back and let him do that to her. You may be able to, but I canâllâ
âWe canât either, Colene. But Alyssa has begged us not to interfere with this. What if you only cause more trouble for the kid after this? All she wants is an end with the man and this whole affair, not drag things out,â Mandy explained, holding onto her friend.
Lyla frowned. âBut Mandy, It doesnât seem like Jasper wants to give up on Alyssa. Iâve heard of the manâs temper. Heâs always distant and cold to everyone, save that Gardner girl. He has never had a girlfriend either.
âI really donât think heâs here with bad intentions. He drove all the way from Solana City to Belbank just for Alyssa, after all. I wonder if heâs regretting his decision to divorce Alyssa.â
âThat manâs nothing but a goodâforânothing scumbag!â Colene cried, hands balling up. âSomeone like him would never feel regret for his actions. Even if he did, itâs too late! Whatâs done canât be undonelâ
âI did see Alyssa leaving earlier. She might be going to meet Jasper outside.â
Hearing this, Mandy pressed a hand to her chin as if in thought. A faint smile appeared on her lips.
âStay here, Lyla. Make sure Winston doesnât find out about Alyssaâs affairs. Letâs go, Colene. You wanted to do justice for Alyssa, didnât you? Nowâs your chance.â
It was fall, so the temperature had been decreasing to uncomfortable levels of chill. Even the winds were bitingly cold.
Xavier shivered, wanting to get back into the car. But Jasper was still standing stock straight beside the car, seeming entirely unbothered
