Landon clucked his tongue and ran after them. âSheâs right! Itâs inappropriate for you to treat her like this now that you two have divorced! Iâll carry you, Ms. White!â
âF*** off!â
âF*** off!â
The former couple spoke in unison. It was just that one of them saw red while the otherâs face was red.
Landon couldnât help thinking that they were pretty similar.
At the hospital, Alyssa was taken into the clinic. Jasper and Landon waited in the corridor. âDamn, Jasper. How could you have treated her like that? Do you think sheâd be able to handle your rough treatment? Or were you trying to rip her arm off?â Landon shook his head.
âHow did you know she was working there?â Jasper looked at him coldly. There was a trace of anger in his eyes.
âI was there for a meal and happened to run into her. Before I arrived, she was doing hard labor at the unloading bay. You shouldâve seen how hard she was workingâno one wouldâve believed she used to be a presidentâs wife.â He smiled slightly and sounded a little admiring.
Landon continued, âShe wasnât mad or upset, nor did she think too highly of herself. Sheâs honestly the most special woman Iâve ever met.â
Jasper clenched his fists and said hoarsely, âWell, you havenât seen much of the world.â
âItâs better than not knowing you have a good thing,â Landon mocked. He didnât mind exchanging insults.
Jasperâs eyes were red. He felt his heart twist.
Landon added, âIn all seriousness, I think you and Alice will eventually get back together.â
âThatâs impossible,â Jasper rasped out.
âYou obviously still care about her. Why else did you hurry over here? You have no idea how whipped you are. Sheâs all you can see. Donât you dare say she means nothing to you.â Landon leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. He shook his head.
Landon continued, âWhatever youâre doing now is poor taste, dude. You abandoned your wife for an exâlover, yet youâre mad to see her moving on. Donât tell me you wanna take a leaf out of Belbanksâ
Winston Taylorâs book and have a harem or something.â
âShe promised Grandpa to wait until after his birthday to finalize the divorce. She should stick to her word.â
âShe was only saying that because she didnât want to upset him too much. Youâre being shameless by making her stick to it.â
âKeep your nose out of my business.â Jasper suddenly felt suffocated.
âI was going to, but I do quite like Ms. White. Iâm genuinely interested in her, so I was hoping youâd leave her alone and stop meddling with her life.â Landon looked serious for once in his life as he reiterated what Alyssa had told him.
âForget about it. Youâre not her type.â Jasperâs expression darkened.
âSheâd have to give me a try to see whether Iâm her type.â
âLandon Harper.â
Landon ignored Jasperâs anger and cocked his head. âIf you change your mind about marrying Liana and decide to get back together with her, Iâll back out. Iâll forget about ever being interested in her.
âAfter all, weâve been friends for so many years. Heck, youâre my only friend. But if you continue harassing Ms. White after marrying Liana, donât blame me for kicking your ass. Iâll do it for her sake.â
Jasper pursed his lips. His expression was stormy.
*Jasper Beckett!â An angry roar ripped through the corridor. Jasper had just turned around when he was punched in the face.
