âBy the way, Iâll be here tomorrow morning to fetch Ms. Alyssa and drive her back to Solana City. Itâs time I get back to work.â
Sinead thought back to when her beloved youngest son knelt to clean Alyssaâs feet. She wrinkled her nose, saying, âYou were doing just fine by Mr. Jonahâs side, Sean. Heâs KS Worldâs CEO, after all.
âWhy are you going back to Ms. Alyssaâs side now? What kind of future would that hold for you?
Winston will want to pass his family business onto his sons one day, not his daughter.â
âHavenât you read the news, Mom? Ms. Alyssaâs been taking Solana City by storm,â Steven cut in excitedly.
He continued, âThe netizens are even calling her âQueen of Pseudonymsâ now. By the looks of it, sheâs nearly as capable as her brother, Jonah.â
âThatâs because she has her father to help her!â Sinead said, still upset.
Sean held his motherâs hand and said earnestly, âMom, Ms. Alyssa is very generous and kind to me.
She needs me. And as long as she still needs me, Iâll always be there by her side⦠until she decides otherwise someday.â
Sinead was astounded and felt as though she had been neglected or had slipped from importance to a child who was now wholly engrossed with their fiancée.
Spencer gazed incredulously at his younger brother. Sean had basically confessed his love to Alyssa Taylor.
*Sean, does Alyssa return your affection?â Sinead asked, still worried about her son. She felt like Alyssa might have seduced him into whatever this was. She didnât want her pride and joy to go to waste like this!
Sinead added, âLook at what Alyssa made you do! Just because we owe it to the Taylor family didnât mean they could just treat you like you were subservient!â
Sean hugged his mother, seeing the tears in her eyes. âYou overthink, Mom. Ms. Alyssa truly is kind to me. She never demands or orders me around. I do what I do of my own volition.â
Meanwhile, the atmosphere was getting heavy and dense in the other car.
âStay out of the Taylor familyâs way from now on!â Spencer reprimanded sternly.
Spencer continued, âDo you not remember what Iâve always taught you? Never forget those who have âBesides, your net worth is already more than millions! Why do you still need to go work with the Beckett family and turn against the Taylors?â
âI did nothing wrong! The Taylor family is the one whoâs pushing my limits!â Simon gritted out, feeling contempt at the humiliation he had suffered earlier tonight.
Simon added, âAlyssa must have told her father about this. Thatâs why he bought out Evergreen Capital and took control of my firm!
âI refuse to let her get the best of me! Iâm going to make her regret it if itâs the last thing I do!â
âWhen will you wake up from this delusion of yours?â Spencer angrily slapped Simon across his cheek.
Spencer asserted, âListen and do as I say. I am your father. I.wonât let you down! Do you think you can manipulate the Taylors like the Beckett family? Theyâre more close-knit than you can imagine.
âI know that better than anyone else! Trying to attack one of them is waging war with their entire family.
Youâll lose everything you have!â
But Simon was still adamant. In the end, all Spencer could say was, âIâm warning you, you can go dig your grave all you like, but keep our family out of this!â
After clearing things up with Alyssa, Sean returned to work by her side. Though his first love had to end so abruptly and sadly, it was still an end to something he had been holding on for years.
What remained on his mind was that kiss from that night in Tatianaâs bedroom.
âSean. Sean? The eggs are burning!â
Alyssaâs yell jerked him back to the present.
Smoke billowed from the grayish-looking lumps in the pan before him.
âShit!â He quickly switched off the stove and tossed the pan in the sink before turning on the tap.
âWhat is up with you? Youâve been so distracted lately.â Alyssa hurriedly came over to see if he had suffered any burns.
âIâm sorry, Ms. Alyssa. I havenât slept very well these past few days. Please, let me make another omelet for you.â
Sean was about to scrub the blackened pan when Alyssa stopped him.
âNo need. Weâre running out of time. Letâs just grab breakfast at a café outside. I need you to drive me to Crater Mountain Park later. I want to go see Mr. Forrest.â
