The familiar voice cut through Jasperâs heart like a blade.
Alyssa suddenly came back to her senses and tore away from Jasperâs grip, as if sheâd been caught doing something inappropriate. She shoved Jasper away, making the man stumble backward.
âWhat are you you doing here, Mr. Jameson?â Alyssa asked curtly, unable to mask the shock in her eyes.
Jameson bristled with killing intent, shaking just the slightest against the dark background. He shot Jasper a menacing glare, pushing at his glasses, It disappeared just as swiftly as it came, though not before Jasper picked up on it.
In response, Jasper stirred up the deadliest energy he could muster, nearly snarling at Jameson. He was never one to lose when it came to this, especially not now when he stood before the woman he loved.
Alyssa noticed Jasperâs gaze. It looked like he was ready to tear Jameson limb by limb.
Alyssa was perplexed by the animosity displayed. Was it all because Jameson stopped him from taking advantage of her?
How shameless!
âAre you okay, Lyse?â Jameson went over to Alyssaâs side, asking kindly, âDo you need any help?â
âNo, Iâm fine.â Alyssa smiled, making Jasper tremble with envy.
It had been ages since Alyssa smiled at him like that. Yet now it was directed at Jameson Schmidt!
âYou donât look fine.â Jameson stood close by her side, exuding a protective, authoritative presence. He then glanced at Jasper. âDo you need me to do something about him?â
Jameson was behaving as if he was dating Alyssa!
Jasperâs eyes!
red with fury as he clenched his hands into fists. If Alyssa werenât here, Jasper would have struck him by now.
âNo need. His legs are still functioning, so he can leave on his own.â Alyssa didnât once look at Jasper when she spoke.
âThen⦠Can you come with me, Lyse?â Jameson asked.
Alyssaâs eyes widened in surprise.
Unable to stifle his rage any longer, Jasper hissed, âDo you have any idea what youâre asking, Jameson âI do. However, Iâm afraid some people have no idea what theyâre doing.â Jameson stood in front of Alyssa. âCanât you see how much she hates you? Youâre no longer married. I can call the cops on you right now for harassment, Mr. Beckett.â
âThatâs enough,â Alyssa quipped, not wanting things to escalate. She said flatly to Jasper, âHurry up and leave.â
âLysel âI said, leave!â Alyssa yelled, finally showing her anger. âI donât want to see you, Jasper!â
Jasper flinched. His mouth suddenly filled with blood. He held back from spitting it out, however.
Beside them, Jamesonâs lips curled into a sneer.
