In the hall, Josh and Clarissa were having a lively conversation with Jonah.
Josh had not only taken over several substantial holding companies under Schmidt Group but was also expected to take over the company one day. Jonah, on the other hand, being Winstonâs eldest and all, would likely take over KS Group one day as well.
Hence, Josh didnât mind spending some time building a connection with Jonah, even though he held no respect for the polyamorous relationship Winston Taylor had.
âI heard KS Group intends to develop in Solana City, Mr. Jonah. Youâve made quite some progress lately.â
Josh had on his winning smile.
âIâm sure weâll be seeing one another in the business world soon. Weâre on the same level, and our parents are good friends. I do hope that friendship extends to our generation and beyond.â
Jonah smiled lightly and made a toast to him.
âIf you u ever have any big projects in Solana City, Mr. Jonah, you know where to find us. Iâm sure if we worked together, we would be an unstoppable force, not just in Solana City but even in the country itself,â
Josh said before taking a sip of his drink. His strong ambition was plain to see.
âYouâre mostly correct. Nonetheless, Iâm afraid that I wonât be in my position for long. Iâll soon be taking a step back Jonahâs expression was calm as he drank his wine.
This made Josh and Clarissa share a look of confusion. âWhat do you mean?â
âAs you all know, it wasnât my intention to take over this position in the first place. Iâm only doing this for my fatherâs sake and to give my siblings a chance to fulfill their dreams and goals instead of being burdened by other responsibilities,â Jonah explained He couldnât help but smile fondly upon recalling Alyssa. âNow that Alyssa is back and enthusiastic about managing our family business, Iâll be handing over the mantle to her once the time is right.â
Joshâs expression was an incredulous one. âDo you mean⦠that Mr. Taylor means to make Ms. Alyssa the CEO of KS Group?â
âYes.â Jonah nodded. It wasnât some secret, after all. Alyssa was bound to take over the family business one day. There was no one more suitable in their family.
âBut sheâs so young and inexperienced. Shouldnât she be enjoying her youth? What about marriage and having a family of her own?â Clarissa asked gently.
âPlus, Iâm sure you have several other siblings, all competent and capable enough to take over the family business. Should it really be passed on to Ms. Alyssaâs hands? Wouldnât she be under such unnecessary pressure?â
âI understand your concerns, Madam Clarissa, but Lyse is no ordinary woman, Marriage and raising children donât go with her principles at all. She might end up abandoning us once again, only returning when Iâm in my 70s,â Jonah joked.
âI would rather she stay by my side and be CEO than have her leave. Weâve doted on her since she was a child. As long as she wants something, Iâll be sure to give it to her if she asks.â
Clarissa was touched by his statement The Schmidt family was already chaotic, even though there were only four children, with three being born to the same mother. Yet Winstonâs family, with his three wives and countless children, were so selflessly offering their family business without argument?
It was incredibly hard to believe!
Though Josh commended Jonahâs actions, he secretly scoffed at them.
Jonah really was foolish to be doting on his sister so blindly and giving his bright future up in the process.
He would surely live to regret it!
âMr. Josh!â Just then, Joshâs secretary, Morgan Styles, hurried over. The moment Morgan saw Clarissa, however, he swallowed his words back down.
âPlease excuse me for a moment,â Josh said with a polite smile.
Jonah nodded. âGo ahead.â
The moment Josh left, Clarissaâs expression turned gloomy.
âWhat did you say?â Josh asked after hearing what Morgan had to say, and his brows furrowed.
âMs. Caldwell is here, but she was barred outside the premises by the Taylor familyâs bodyguards. She insists on seeing you right now. Some of the guests have noticed her too!â Morgan reported in a hushed tone.
âShe isnât fit to be present at such an event. Kick her out.â
